9 Judgment Against Babylon (13:1-14:23) Judgment announced (13:1-16) Army summoned for battle Destruction of the day of the lord Instrument of and extent of God s judgment (13:17-22) Medes will engage Babylon Babylon will be like Sodom and Gomorrah God s mercy on Israel (14:1-2) House of Jacob resettles in their own land Strangers will receive them and even serve them Song against Babylon s king (14:3-21) God s judgment and desolation on Babylon (14:22-23)

10 Judgment Against Other Nations Judgment against Assyria (14:24-27) God s purpose is to destroy Assyria His purpose cannot be stopped Judgment against Philistia (14:28-32) Despite the death of Ahaz, desolation will be total Zion will provide refuge for God s people Judgment against Moab (15:1-16:14) Desolation and wailing foretold for the cities of Moab This would all happen within three years Even God will cry for Moab Moab encouraged to make peace with Israel

Judgment against Syria and Israel (17:1-17:14) Fall of Damascus and Ephraim Glory of Jacob will diminish but a remnant is spared Man will return to God, not to idols Cities of Israel desolate because they forgot God Collapse of nations who plunder Judgment against Ethiopia (18:1-7) Convicted of trusting in diplomacy and alliances God will take care of the enemy in His own time The enemy (or friend) will honor the Lord

Judgment against Egypt (19:1-25) God will bring civil unrest and tyranny upon the nation Nile River will become unusable Egypt will fear God and the land of Judah Egypt will eventually turn to God and be blessed A Sign against Egypt and Ethiopia (20:1-20:6) Isaiah serves as a sign when Assyria invaded Ashdod To discourage nations from placing hope in Assyria
