1 TEMPLE CHAI S 23 rd ANNUAL ELLEN WOODNICK MITZVAH MALL SHOPPING LIST for PK-2 nd grade & ECC Sunday, November 24, 2013 Temple Chai Social Hall Alef The Ellen Woodnick Mitzvah Mall is run by our 4 th Grade Religious School Students and Families. This project is intended to help promote G milut Chasadim (acts of loving kindness) and to provide a meaningful gift giving alternative. The Ellen Woodnick Mitzvah Mall is a fair of non-profit organizations that promotes charitable giving in a simple and educational setting: STEP 1: Talk with your children about who they would like to honor this holiday season with a gift. STEP 2: Our PK-2 nd graders and ECC children have a condensed mini mall that they will get to shop at to help make their Mitzvah Mall experience more manageable and educational. This shopping list reflects the six core organizations that will be represented at their mini mall. If you, as a parent and/or family would like to make additional donations to some of the other organizations represented, please fill out the other shopping list that can be found at templechai.com or in the Religious School office. Please note that PK-2 nd graders will not have an opportunity to make purchases for organizations not listed on their mini mall form. STEP 3: Go through the attached shopping list and see which gifts you would like to purchase. o There are gifts ranging from $1 cents to $18 o Donation/Tribute gift cards are available from each of the organizations at the Mall STEP 4: Fill out the shopping list with your child(ren). Checks are to be made payable to Temple Chai. STEP 5: On November 24 th, your child(ren) will have the opportunity to go to the Mall to make their purchases. All students in pre-k thru 3 rd grade will be escorted around the Mitzvah Mall by a 4 th Grader. They will help them make their purchases and then personalize their gifts. ECC families, please come to the Mitzvah Mall anytime from 10am-11:45am to shop. PLEASE SEND EACH OF YOUR STUDENTS TO THE MITZVAH MALL WITH THEIR OWN SHOPPING LIST AND CHECK/CASH. Religious School students go to the Mitzvah Mall by class it is not possible to coordinate for siblings to shop together. TEMPLE AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS Mitzvah Mall is open to everyone! We welcome you to shop at the Mall on November 24 th with our students. Or, you can send your completed shopping list and payment to the school office and we will mail you your donation/tribute cards. (Please note this is the condensed shopping list for PK-2 nd grade, if you would like the full shopping list please download a copy online at templechai.com or pick up a copy in the Religious School office). The Mitzvah Mall is named in memory of Ellen Woodnick, a beloved 4th grade teacher at Temple Chai, who co-chaired the Mitzvah Mall for many years. May her memory be a blessing.
