Welcomes you to your Sabbath Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Mark 2:27, 28 And he said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath. כי תשא take Ki Tisa When you Exodus 30:11-34:35 / I Kings 18:1-39 / Mark 9:1-10 Pastor Mark Biltz 02/23/2019 Adar I 18, 5779 Shabbat (Saturday) Service: First half: 10:00 10:50 am Mid-Service Break: 10:50 11:05 am Second half: 11:05 12:30 pm Services are held at: Pacific Christian Center th St. E., Tacoma, WA Exodus 30:12,13a When you take the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul to the LORD, when you number them; that there be no plague among them, when you number them. This they shall give, every one that passes among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary:. Exodus 30:15,16 the rich is not to give more or the poor less than the half-shekel when giving Adonai s offering to atone for your lives. You are to take the atonement money from the people of Israel and use it for the service in the tent of meeting, so that it will be a reminder of the people of Israel before Adonai to atone for your lives. 2 Exodus 30:30-33 And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office. And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil to me throughout your generations. On man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall you make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy to you. Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people. Exodus 31:13,14a Tell the people of Israel, You are to observe My Shabbats; for this is a sign between me and you through all your generations; so that you will know that I am Adonai, who sets you apart for me. Therefore you are to keep My Shabbat, because it is set apart for you. Exodus 31:16,17 The people of Israel are to keep the Shabbat, to observe Shabbat through all their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the people of Israel forever; for in six days Adonai made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and rested. Exodus 31:18 When he had finished speaking with Moshe on Mount Sinai, Adonai gave him the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. Exodus 32:1-3 When the people saw that Moshe was taking a long time to come down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, Get busy; and make us gods to go ahead of us; because this Moshe, the man that brought us up from the land of Egypt we don t know what has become of him. Aaron said to them, Have your wives, sons and daughters strip off their gold earrings; and bring them to me. The people stripped off their gold earrings and brought them to Aaron. Exodus 32:4 He received what they gave him, melted it down, and made it into the shape of a calf. They said, Israel! Here is your god, who brought you up from the land of Egypt! Exodus 32:21-24 Moshe said to Aaron, What did these people do to you to make you lead them into such a terrible sin? Aaron replied, My lord shouldn t be so angry. You know what these people are like, that they are determined to do evil. So they said to me, Make us gods to go ahead of us; because this Moshe, the man that brought us up from the land of Egypt we don t know what has become of him. I answered them, Anyone with gold, strip it off! So they gave it to me. I threw it in the fire, and out came this calf! Exodus 32:7,8 Adonai said to Moshe, Go down! Hurry! Your people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have become corrupt! So quickly they have turned aside from the way I ordered them to follow! They have cast a metal statue of a calf, worshipped it, sacrificed to it and said, Israel! Here is your god, who brought you up from the land of Egypt! 2
Exodus 32:9,10 Adonai continued speaking to Moshe: I have been watching these people; and you can see how stiffnecked they are. Now leave me alone, so that my anger can blaze against them, and I can put an end to them! I will make a great nation out of you instead. Exodus 32:11 And Moses sought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why does your wrath wax hot against your people, which you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? Exodus 32:12 Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people. Exodus 32:15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. Exodus 32:21,22 Moshe said to Aaron, What did these people do to you to make you lead them into such a terrible sin? Aaron replied, My lord shouldn t be so angry. You know what these people are like, that they are determined to do evil. Exodus 32:30-32 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said to the people, you have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up to the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if you will forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written. Exodus 33:1 Adonai said to Moshe, Leave, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt; and move on from here toward the land of which I swore to Avraham, Yitz chak and Ya akov, I will give it to your descendants. Exodus 33:2,3 I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: to a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you in the way. Exodus 33:5a Adonai said to Moshe, Tell the people of Israel, You are a stiffnecked people! If I were to go up with you for even one moment, I would exterminate you! Exodus 33:12,13 Moshe said to Adonai, Look, you say to me, Make these people move on! But you haven t let me know whom you will be sending with me. Nevertheless you have said, I know you by name, and also, You have found 3
favor in my sight. Now, please, if it is really the case that I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways; so that I will understand you and continue finding favor in your sight. Moreover, keep on seeing this nation as your people. Exodus 33:14-16 He said, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. He said to him, If your presence doesn t go with me, don t carry us up from here. For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn t it in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth? Exodus 33:18-20 He said, Please show me your glory. He said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. He said, You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live. Exodus 33:22 It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; Exodus 34:4,5 He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets. The LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. Exodus 34:6-8 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation. And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Exodus 34:9 He said, If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us; although this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance. Exodus 34:11-14 Observe that which I command you this day. Behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you: but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherim; for you shall worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. 4
2Kings 23:13,14 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the detestation of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the detestation of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. And he broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men. Exodus 34:29,30 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses knew not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him. Ecclesiastes 1:9 What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Daniel 2:32,33 As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass, its legs of iron, its feet part of iron, and part of clay. Daniel 2:38b-40a you are the head of gold. Another kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things. Daniel 8:3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last. I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; and no beasts could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself. Daniel 8:21 As for the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia. And the goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king. Daniel 8:22-24 As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his nation, but not with his power. And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise. His power shall be great but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction and shall succeed in what he does, and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints. Matthew 24:3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age? 5
Matthew 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:10,11 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. Matthew 24:12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:15,16 So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Daniel 11:31-33 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 1Maccabees 1:62-64 But many in Israel were determined and resolved in their hearts not to eat anything unclean; they preferred to die rather than to be defiled with food or to profane the holy covenant; and they did die. And very great wrath came upon Israel. The officers of the king in charge of enforcing the apostasy came to the city of Modein to make them sacrifice. Many of Israel joined them, but Mattathias and his sons drew together. Then the officers of the king addressed Mattathias: You are a leader, an honorable and great man in this city, supported by sons and kindred. Come now, be the first to obey the king s command, as all the Gentiles and Judeans and those who are left in Jerusalem have done. Then you and your sons shall be numbered among the King s Friends, * and you and your sons shall be honored with silver and gold and many gifts. But Mattathias answered in a loud voice: Although all the Gentiles in the king s realm obey him, so that they forsake the religion of their ancestors and consent to the king s orders, yet I and my sons and my kindred will keep to the covenant of our ancestors. Heaven forbid that we should forsake the law and the commandments. We will not obey the words of the king by departing from our religion in the slightest degree. As he finished saying these words, a certain Jew came forward in the sight of all to offer sacrifice on the altar in Modein according to the king s order. When Mattathias saw him, he was filled with zeal; his heart was moved and his just fury was aroused; he sprang forward and killed him upon the altar. At the same time, he also killed the messenger of the king who was forcing them to sacrifice, and he tore down the altar. Thus he showed his zeal for the law, just as Phinehas did with Zimri, son of Salu. Then Mattathias cried out in the city, Let everyone who is zealous for the law and who stands by the covenant follow me! Then he and his sons fled to the mountains, leaving behind in the city all their possessions. 6
1Maccabees 1:10-15 There sprang from these a sinful offshoot, Antiochus Epiphanes, son of King Antiochus, once a hostage at Rome. He became king in the one hundred and thirty-seventh year * of the kingdom of the Greeks. In those days there appeared in Israel transgressors of the law who seduced many, saying: Let us go and make a covenant with the Gentiles all around us; since we separated from them, many evils have come upon us. The proposal was agreeable; some from among the people promptly went to the king, and he authorized them to introduce the ordinances of the Gentiles. Thereupon they built a gymnasium * in Jerusalem according to the Gentile custom. They disguised their circumcision and abandoned the holy covenant; they allied themselves with the Gentiles and sold themselves to wrongdoing. 1Maccabees 1:54-57 On the fifteenth day of the month Kislev, in the year one hundred and forty five, * the king erected the desolating abomination upon the altar of burnt offerings, and in the surrounding cities of Judah they built pagan altars. They also burned incense at the doors of houses and in the streets. Any scrolls of the law * that they found they tore up and burned. Whoever was found with a scroll of the covenant, and whoever observed the law, was condemned to death by royal decree. Matthew 24:20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 1Maccabees 2:32-41 Many hurried out after them, and having caught up with them, camped opposite and prepared to attack them on the sabbath. The pursuers said to them, Enough of this! Come out and obey the king s command, and you will live. But they replied, We will not come out, nor will we obey the king s command to profane the sabbath. Then the enemy attacked them at once. But they did not retaliate; they neither threw stones, nor blocked up their secret refuges. They said, Let us all die in innocence; heaven and earth are our witnesses that you destroy us unjustly. So the officers and soldiers attacked them on the sabbath, and they died with their wives, their children and their animals, to the number of a thousand persons. When Mattathias and his friends heard of it, they mourned deeply for them. They said to one another, If we all do as our kindred have done, and do not fight against the Gentiles for our lives and our laws, they will soon destroy us from the earth. So on that day they came to this decision: Let us fight against anyone who attacks us on the sabbath, so that we may not all die as our kindred died in their secret refuges. Now it so fell out, that these things were done on the very same day on which their Divine worship had fallen off, and was reduced to a profane and common use, after three years' time; for so it was, that the temple was made desolate by Antiochus, and so continued for three years. And this desolation came to pass according to the prophecy of Daniel, which was given four hundred and eight years before; Hebrews 11:7,8 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated of whom the world was not worthy wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 7
Deuteronomy 32:8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. Revelation 21:10-12 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed. Revelation 22:14,15 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
