4 ATTENDANCE Prompt attendance is expected for every day of the Z man and for all Sedorim. If it is necessary to miss any Seder or even part of a Seder, a member of the Hanhalla must be consulted with in advance. This is also inclusive of Shabbos Sedarim and meals. CARS Talmidim in BMZE are not allowed to have cars. If a specific need arises, please speak to the Hanhalla. YESHIVA PROPERTY While we encourage our Talmidim to feel at home in the Yeshiva, we strongly request that private Yeshiva property not be tampered with without express permission from those in charge. This includes office phones, computers, etc. Damage to yeshiva property will be repaired and require reimbursement. DORMITORY Baruch Hashem, our Yeshiva boasts beautiful and spacious dormitories which are fully equipped to meet the needs of the Talmidim. We make every effort to ensure that the dormitories are both physically comfortable and spiritually appropriate for young aspiring B nai Torah. To achieve this goal, we ask each Talmid to cooperate with the following rules: 1) Only current Talmidim of our Yeshiva are allowed to stay in the dormitory. Arrangements for any guest must be made in advance with the Hanhalla. Otherwise, no one is permitted to stay or even visit in the dormitory. Page 2 Mincha - 2:45 PM Mussar Seder - 3:00-3:15 PM. This has an extremely positive impact on the high school students and enhances the kesher between the Bais Medrash and the high school talmidim, and the Ruach HaYeshiva in general. Page 7

5 RECREATION The Yeshiva is happy to provide the following recreational items for use during Bein HaSedorim: 1) Basketball courts 2) An exercise room stocked with modern state-of-the-art equipment such as treadmills, stationery bikes, weights, etc. 3) Student Lounge equipped with Ping Pong table 4) A haimishe books lending library featuring Artscroll books and novels 5) An X-Box game room which is available after night Seder 6) A computer center designated for the exclusive use of Bais Medrash students. Additionally, the Yeshiva will once again be offering its Motzei Shabbos JCC program. Details will be forthcoming at the beginning of the Z man. SHABBOS Shabbos is an important part of Yeshiva life. Spending Shabbos together with Rabbeim and chaveirim is truly a special experience, as the Kedushas Shabbos blends with the Sidrei HaYeshiva to form a unique and unforgettable ruach. Generally speaking, the yeshiva runs on a three-week Shabbos cycle, with the first two Shabbosim being in and the third Shabbos being out. On the first in-shabbos, talmidim eat all seudos in the Yeshiva. On the second in-shabbos, the Yeshiva will designate one seudah which the talmidim eat out of the Yeshiva. Talmidim can make their own arrangements or the Yeshiva will gladly place them.the other seudos must be eaten in the Yeshiva. The third Shabbos will be an out-shabbos. Talmidim should use much discretion when making arrangements for Shabbos so as not to impede their growth as B nei Torah. The Yeshiva will assist in making arrangements whenever necessary. Additionally, talmidim wishing to spend Shabbos with relatives living in or visiting the Miami area should make every effort to schedule these visits on out- Shabbosim only, so as not to interfere with the Yeshiva schedule. Page 6 2) Every Talmid is expected to act in a responsible and considerate manner towards other dorm residents. This includes avoiding disturbances late at night, 3) Talmidim will be expected to keep their personal areas and items neat and clean. Beds must be made daily. In order for the custodians to be able to clean properly, items cannot be left strewn about. Please be aware that the custodial staff is authorized to discard items as they deem necessary. 4) Talmidim may not move to a different room, nor may they rearrange the furniture in their rooms without permission from the Hanhalla. Please report to the office any maintenance problems or repairs which may be needed. They will forward it to the proper department. 5) Due to the difficulty in finding appropriate secular reading material nowadays, the Yeshiva prohibits secular novels, newspapers, and magazines from the Yeshiva campus. Due to the great sensitivity involved in this matter, the Hanhalla will remove any inappropriate materials found on campus. The Yeshiva allows Jewish periodicals (Mishpacha, Yated Ne eman, HaModia etc.) onto the premises. Anyone wishing to have a subscription of these periodicals sent to the Yeshiva may do so. 6) Food can only be kept in the dormitory in closed containers. No cooking or other food preparation is permitted in the dorm. This is due to critical fire and hygiene considerations. 7) In keeping with the general responsibility of attending all T filos and Sedorim in a timely fashion, it is highly recommended that each Talmid bring an alarm clock with him to the Yeshiva. 6 8) Tzniyus Code: In order to maintain a Ruach which is appropriate for Bnai Torah, the Yeshiva has instituted a basic Tzniyus Code in the dormitory. This will be announced at the Orientation at the beginning of the Zman. LAUNDRY Our dormitory is equipped with coin-operated washers and dryers. These will be available for use during Bain HaSedorim hours only. Additionally, the Yeshiva has an arrangement with a local dry cleaning or laundry service. Prices will be announced at the beginning of the Z man. The Hanholas HaYeshiva is makpid that laundry not be done in private homes without receiving special permission. MUSIC / IPODS / MP3 PLAYERS The Yeshiva continually strives to maintain a strong Ruach HaTorah. As such, we do not allow non-jewish music in the Yeshiva and dormitory. ipods : Talmidim are allowed to have ipods (other than ipod Touch), MP3 players, and the like for the purpose of listening to Shiurim and music. However, they cannot have movies, TV shows or other forms of inappropriate entertainment loaded onto them. Laptops/ ipads: Laptops, ipads, and any other form of computers are absolutely prohibited. WIFI : Due to the prevalence of hot spots in urban areas, any technology that has access to WIFI is prohibited. This applies even to gaming devices. The Yeshiva reserves the right to remove any technological device(s) that it deems inappropriate. PERSONAL CONDUCT MEDICAL ISSUES All Talmidim should bring with them their current medical insurance information, including insurance cards (or copies) complete with customer service numbers. Please realize that your insurance coverage may be limited to specific providers in the Miami area. If a medical situation arises, please see the Hanhala as soon as possible. We will do our best to help arrange the best possible treatment. Anyone with any type of pre-existing or chronic medical needs should please notify the Hanhala at the beginning of the Z man. Page 4 The Yeshiva expects each talmid to uphold the high standards of personal conduct of true B nei Torah. This is important not only for personal growth, but also because our talmidim serve as role models for our high school students as well as for the community at large. In keeping with this, Yeshiva policy does not allow any smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages at any time. Furthermore, neither smoking materials nor alcoholic beverages of any type are allowed to be kept on the Yeshiva campus. Any such items found on campus will be removed. Similarly, the Yeshiva expects each Talmid to uphold the appearance of a Ben Torah. Though there is no official dress code, we expect each Talmid to use discretion in both manner of dress and personal grooming. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Please be aware that the High School dress code is dark solid colored pants and light solid colored button down shirts. Page 5
