3 God created all the life that we see on the earth Man and woman were created and it says that we are created in the image of God. People are the highest form of God s creation

4 God breathed into man the breath of life Genesis 2:7 God is the giver life and we don t have the right to take a life

5 I. We are to Save Life

6 If God doesn t want us to take a life, then he wants us to save lives From the very young to the very old Society has made unborn babies not human People say they aren t human therefore that life can be taken

7 And then there are assisted suicides If a person is suffering and they want to die give them a drug to kill them

8 If someone wanted to get an abortion and they were talking to you You would do everything you could do to save the child And help the mother put the child up for adoption If someone was depressed and wanted to commit suicide You take that seriously and help them get help

9 II. What about War, Self Defense, and Protecting your Family?

10 Americans fought in WWII against Hitler and his army The Germans were killing innocent people and they had to be stopped. But even in the midst of WWII, people were saving lives

11 Corrie Ten Boom was a Dutch Christian that saved many Jews from the Germans. She was sent to prison camp with her sister And was released by a clerical error Oskar Schindler is another man that had a factory and saved 1200 Jews from death

12 Yes, God has even made allowances for self defense in the Bible If a thief is caught breaking in at night and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; but if it happens after sunrise, the defender is guilty of bloodshed Exodus 22:2,3

13 Our front door had a noise that it made about 2 am I was fully awake and ran to the dining room. In the dark, I saw the figure of a man standing in my dining room. What do you do in that situation?

14 III. Jesus Taught about Murder of the Heart Matthew 5:21,22

15 The worst way to relate to people is to murder them That is, the deliberate act of killing an innocent person And according to the teachers of the law, that is all you had to avoid Just don t murder someone and you are obeying the law

16 But Jesus wants to get to the heart of the matter What could lead up to murder? What is murder of the heart? It all starts with what we think of someone If someone did something you didn t like, what would you think or do?

17 Jesus is saying that anger is as bad as murder because an out of control person will do things that shouldn t be said or done

18 I worked for a coin dealer in High School and College, we would get some of the most perfect coins in, Brilliant Uncirculated. But then we got coins in that were called Cull. But whether a BU or a cull, they still had the same face value

People are the highest form of God s creation This is not the same as the taking of an animal s life Such as a chicken or a pig or a cow Some people have confused human life with animal life This is talking about human life and God holds our lives precious God breathed into man the breath of life Genesis 2:7 God is the giver life and we don t have the right to take a life This is a very short command with no explanation In the Hebrew language it is 2 words, don t murder That is, don t take an innocent life I. We are to Save Life Within this command it is implied that we do the opposite If God doesn t want us to take a life, then he wants us to save lives From the very young to the very old Society has made unborn babies not human People say they aren t human therefore that life can be taken I think it says something about a society when it is OK to take the life if it is unwanted. But if the parents want the child, they will do everything to save the life If the child is not wanted, it s a fetus If the child is wanted, it s a baby And then there are assisted suicides If a person is suffering and they want to die give them a drug to kill them My father died of cancer and he was suffering the last few days He was given pain medication to ease the pain As I saw him for the last time, I saw how much he was suffering None of us live forever And the next few days I prayed that God would take him to heaven And it happened 3 days later Only God gives life and takes life We don t take it away from someone Thinking more positive, we are to do all we can to save life If someone wanted to get an abortion and they were talking to you You would do everything you could do to save the child And help the mother put the child up for adoption If someone was depressed and wanted to commit suicide You take that seriously and help them get help II. I said, Johnny, what are you doing in my house? In his drunkenness he realized who I was, a pastor and said, Jesus is out in the car and said I could come in for a sandwich. Lori called the police, they came and asked the same question and took him to jail to sleep in off. Adrenaline is a funny thing, if I had a gun, I would have shot him, if I had a baseball bat I would have beat him I am glad I had neither, I would have killed him and regretted it I would have been justified in doing it but made a fatal mistake So can we defend our family? Yes I think these are related But defending and protecting your family would happen on rare occasions It may never happen for many of us May God give us wisdom III.
