2 PRAYER STEPS FOR NEW Muslims STEP 5: FATIHA Al-hamdu lillahi Rabb il-'alamin Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem Maliki yawmi-d-din Iyya-ka na'budu wa iyya-ka nasta'in Ihdina-sirat al-mustaqim Sirat al-ladhina an'amta 'alai-him Ghair il-maghdubi 'alai-him wa la-ddallin Ameen الح م د ل ل رب العال ي ن الر ح م ن الر حي م م الك يو م الدي ن عي ن ست عبد و إي اك ن إي اك ن قي م ا هدنا الص راط الست ير يهم غ ل نعم ت ع ذي ن أ صراط ال ي هم ول الض الي ن غضو ب عل ال All praise unto Allah, Lord of all the worlds The most Affectionate, The Merciful Master of the Day of Requital We worship You alone, and beg You alone for help. Guide us in the straight path. The path of those whom You have favored. 3 STEP 6: SOORAH Qul huwal laahu ahad Allah hus-samad Lam yalid wa lam yoolad Wa lam yakul-lahu kufuwan ahad Say, He, Allah, is One. Allah is He on whom all depend. He begets not, nor is He begotten. And none is like Him. قل هو هللا أح د هللا الص م د م ي و لد لم يلد و ل هۥ كفو ا أ ح د و لم يكن ل STEP 7: IN RUKOO Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem س ب ح ان ربي العظي م Glory be to my Lord, the Almighty STEP 8: FROM RUKOO Sami Allahu liman hamidah Rabbana wa lakal hamd ا و ل ك الحم د س مع هللا لن ح مد ه رب ن Allah hears those who praise Him, Our Lord, praise be to You STEP 9: IN SAJDAH Subhana Rabbiyal Ala Glory be to my Lord, the Most High عل ى س ب ح ان ربي لا قل Say هو He أح د One ص م د Self-Sufficient م يكن And there is none ل د Begotten و لم Not يلد He begets ي ول Heard س مع High س على ا Almighty عظيم Equal كفو ا One who م ن Page 3

4 STEP 10: IN SITTING BETWEEN TWO SAJDAH Allahummaghfirly War ham nee Wahdi nee Waa fi nee Warzuq nee ا لل ه م اغفر لي و ار حم ني و اهدني و عافني و ار زقني O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me and guide me and protect me and provide me sustenance STEP 11: TAHEYAT At taheyatu lil-lahi was salawatu wa taiyibatu As salamu alaika ayuhan nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu As salamu alaina Wa ala ibadil lahis salihin Ash hadu an la ilaha ilallah Wa ash hadu anna muhamadan abduhu wa rasuluh الت ح ي ات لل والص ل و ات و الط يب ات ي ه ا الن ب ي و ر ح م ة هللا الس ل م ع ل ي ك أ و ب رك ات ه الس لم ع ل ي ن ا و ع ل ى ع ب اد هللا الص ال ح ي ن أش ه د أ ن ل إله إلهللا دا ع ب ده و ر س و له و أ ش هد أن م ح م All compliments, prayers and beautiful expressions are for Allah. Peace be on you, O Messenger, and mercy of Allah and his blessings. Peace be on us and on all righteous servants of God. I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Envoy. تحي ات Compliments صلوات Prayers طيبات Beautiful Expressions سلم Peace أي ها O نبي Prophet رحمة Mercy بركات Blessings Servant عبد Muhammad PBUH م ح م د Messenger رس ول Righteous ones صالحين I testify أشهد Page 4

Allahuma barik ala Muhamadin wa ala ali Muhamad, Kama barakta ala Ibrahima wa ala ali Ibrahim, Inaka hamidun majid الله م بارك عل ى م ح م د و عل ى وآل محم د كما باركت عل ى إبراهيم وعل ى وآل إب راهي م إن ك حميد مجيد O Allah, bless Muhammad and Muhammad s family as you blessed Abraham and Abraham s family. Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great. STEP 13: DUA Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman katthira wa'ala yagfiruzunuba illa anta fagfirli magfiratham min'indika warhamni innaka anthal GafururaHeem الل ه م إني ظلمت نفس ي ظل ما. ت ول يغفر الذن وب إل أن ا كثي ر ي مغف ر ة من عند ك فاغفر ل وار حمني إنك أنت الغف ور الرحي م O Allah, I have been extremely unjust to myself and none grants forgiveness but You, forgive me, with the forgiveness that comes from You and have Mercy, upon me. Verily you are the Forgiver, the Merciful. الس لم عليكم و رح مة هللا STEP 14: SALAM Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you Page 5
