The people realised that the idols have no power to hear or respond Instead of following Ibrahim they sentenced him to death and cast him into a huge fire Allah saved Ibrahim from the fire and made him of the Allah s prophets Ibrahim AS left his people and along with him only a young lady named Sarah and Ibrahim s nephew Loot believed in him Loot AS became a prophet and was sent to the people of Sodom The people of Sodom committed shirk, practices homosexuality and abducted travellers Allah sent angels in the form of beautiful men to Sodom. Ismail AS encouraged his father to do as Allah commanded Just as Ibrahim AS was about to sacrifice his son Allah stopped him and informed Ibrahim AS that they had passed Allah s test Allah then instructed Ibrahim AS and Ismail AS to rebuild the Ka aba in Makkah Years later Allah would bless Sarah and Ibrahim AS with a son Ishaq who lived in Palestine After Ibrahim s AS death his sons Ismail and Ishaq AS inherited prophet hood from Allah and taught their people about tawhid in Makkah and Palestine Ishaq AS had a son Yacoub who was known as Israel and was blessed with prophet hood like his father and grandfather (Ibrahim) Yacoub AS had 12 sons the second youngest of them was Yusuf AS Yacoub AS hoped that one of his 12 sons would succeed him as a prophet and follow the example of his forefathers Yusuf AS as a young boy informed his father of a strange dream where he saw the son, the moon and 11 stars prostrating before him Yacoub AS understood that this was a sign from Allah that Yusuf AS would grow up to be a prophet Shaytaan had sowed the seeds of jealousy between the sons of Yacoub and they resented Yusuf due to Yacoub s love for him They plotted to rid themselves of Yusuf by throwing him in a well The brought Yusuf s blood soaked clothes to Yacoub and said a wolf ate him 157. A caravan found Yusuf in the well and took him to Egypt where he was sold as a slave 158. Al Aziz, the man who bought Yusuf, raised him and treated him well 159. When he became older Yusuf was incredibly handsome and Al Aziz s wife sought to seduce Yusuf Yusuf rejected her advances and was imprisoned 161. In prison Yusuf met two men. The first dreamt of himself pouring wine the other dreamt of birds eating bread he carried on his head 162. Yusuf explained that one would pour wine for the king and the other would be crucified and birds will pek at his head Yusuf stayed in prison for many years 164. The one who poured wine for the king heard that the king had a strange dream of 7 fat cows and 7 thin cows and 7 lush stalks of grain and 7 dried

6 stalks. No one could interpret the kings dream 165. The kings cupbearer approached Yusuf in prison and asked him to explain the king s dream. Yusuf explained that this referred to 7 years of prosperous years will first occur where Egypt will store the excess food followed by 7 years of drought where the food stores will be eaten The king wanted to free Yusuf but he requested that his name be cleared first. When it was discovered that he was falsely imprisoned the king appointed Yusuf as chief over the stores of Egypt Yusuf AS become very powerful and oversaw the distribution of Egypt s surplus Due to the drought people from all over the region came to Egypt for food and one day his brothers came to buy food. Yusuf recognised them but they didn t recognise him 169. Yusuf planted the cup of king in his youngest brother s (Binyameen) bag so as to keep him with him in Egypt His ten older brothers begged Yusuf to let their younger brother. Finally Yusuf revealed himself to them and pardoned them all 171. He sent his shirt to be put on his father s face who had become blind from the sadness he felt 172. Yusuf brought his family to Egypt where they were known to the Egyptian s as the banu Israel ie the children of Yacoub Prophet Ayoub AS was of the progeny of Nuh (AS) and Ibrahim (AS) 174. He is mentioned 4 times in the Quran 175. He is known by all for his patience 176. Allah bestowed on Ayoub (AS) strength, a loving wife, a large family and masses of wealth Allah caused Ayoub s lands and livestock to be lost 178. Then his children died one by one 179. Then his health started to fail 180. Every organ of his body suffered except his heart and tongue 181. He was totally shunned by all his friends and supporters and left alone 182. Only his wife remained by his side 183. After 7 years had past in this manner Ayoub s wife became despondent and said to Ayoub (AS): How much longer will Allah allow this to go on? He became deeply upset. He asked her How long had Allah blessed me with goodness? 184. Ayoub (AS) told her: If I am healed I would surely lash you 100 times for this 185. He made duah and Allah ordered him to strike the ground where a spring gushed forth for him to wash in it and drink from it His wife returned and he struck her 100 times using a blade of grass Allah resorted his health, wealth and family Prophet Jonah (Yunus) (pbuh) also known as Dhan-Nun 189. He came from the town of Nineveh whose people worshipped idols 190. His people denied him and said for Yunus to bring the punishment from Allah 191. Yunus left his people in anger before Allah had instructed him to do so While on a ship storms continued to crash against them and the captain decided one of the people of ship had to be thrown overboard They drew three lots and Yunus AS name appeared each time.

Yunus jumped overboard and was swallowed by a whale In the whales belly Yunus AS repented to Allah by saying La ilaha illa Anta (none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah), Glorified (and Exalted) be You (above all that evil they associate with You), Truly, I have been of the wrong doers." (Ch 21:87 Quran) 196. Allah forgave Yunus AS and the whale expelled Yunus AS on a beach 197. His skin was inflamed from the acid that burnt him and when the sun rose over him he suffered tremendously Allah caused a plant to grow over his body and he was healed Yunus AS returned to his city and was surprised to find that the punishment Allah sent against them had not destroyed them 200. Yunus s AS people were the only people ever to be saved from the punishment while seeing it coming as they all repented sincerely and Allah accepted from them Prophet Musa AS is the most mentioned nabee in the Quran, mentioned over 130 times 202. He Is of the ulool azim ie the 5 highest prophets 203. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) met him in the 6 th Samaa on the Miraaj 204. Allah favored him above all other prophets through Allah s direct speech to him Prophet Harun AS is the older brother of Musa 206. Mentioned 20 times in the Quran 207. He supported Musa through his mission 208. Harun was a nabee (prophet) while Musa was a nabee and rasool (prophet and messenger) 209. The story of Musa and Harun is the most repeated story in the Quran 210. During the time of Yusuf (AS) Yacoub (AS) and his tribe was brought to Egypt. They were given status and honour and grew stronger in Egypt 211. As time went by the Bani Israel were seen as a threat to the Egyptians and so the Pharaoh oppressed them 212. They were forced to work like slaves and were not allowed to leave Egypt 213. The religion of the Egyptians was that they worshipped the Pharaoh, which went against the religion of Ibrahim (AS) 214. Pharaoh saw or was informed a dream where a fire came from Palestine to Egypt and destroyed the homes of the Egyptians but left the homes of the Israelite unharmed 215. The Egyptians understood that this dream was a prophecy for the destruction of the Pharaoh at the hands of an Israeli boy 216. Pharaoh ordered all male children born that year to be executed. This was the same year Musa As was born Allah inspired Musa AS mother to put him in a basket and cast it into the Nile 218. Pharaoh s wife Aasiyah AS found the baby boy and accepted Musa and took him as a son who she would raise Allah made it so that Musa did not drink from any other woman except from his mother When Musa grew up he came to learn that he was an Israelite and his people were being oppressed by Pharaoh 221. One day he found an Egyptian abusing an Israelite. Musa intervened and by accident killed the Egyptian Musa fled Egypt to city of Madyan where he married and become a shepherd for ten years.

After ten years Musa returned to Egypt and on his way got lost in the desert 224. He saw a burning bush in the distance and when he approached it a voice spoke to him 225. Allah spoke to Musa from the burning bush instructing him to go to Pharaoh and call him worship Allah alone and to set the Banee Israel free Musa asked that his brother Harun be tasked to assist him in this duty. Allah accepted Musa s request and appointed Harun as a nabee Musa AS and Harun AS came to Pharaoh calling him to Allah but he refused to believe and asked for a sing from Musa AS Musa AS cast his staff on the floor and it became a huge snake and he pushed his right hand to his left side and it came forth shinning Pharaoh said this was plain magic and he too had magicians who would challenge Musa AS at a festival in front of all of Egypt Musa AS challenged the magicians of Pharaoh and defeated them. The ropes and sticks of the magicians appeared to be snakes but Musa AS staff turned into a huge snake and ate that of the magicians The magicians fell down in sujood and were the first to believe Pharaoh continued to disobey Allah so signs were sent against him. Allah caused drought and crops to fail. The Nile flooded, then Allah sent the locust, frogs, lice and Nile became like blood Musa AS took the Banu Israel away by night and Pharaoh chased them Musa AS struck the Red Sea and it parted The Israelites passed through the two parts and when Pharaoh entered it the Sea joined and drowned Pharaoh 236. Musa AS took his people through the desert. Musa AS struck a stone and 12 springs of water gushed forth 237. Allah sent down from Jannah Manna and Salwa for them to eat 238. When they reached Jerusalem the Israelites refused to fight the Canaanites so Allah made it haram to them for forty years to wonder in the desert 239. Musa AS left his people for forty days to receive the Torah from Allah 240. When he returned he found his people worshiping an Idol made by a man called Saamiri 241. Musa AS destroyed the idol and Allah forgave them They then asked Musa AS to show them Allah for them to see so Allah seized them with a lightning bolt and resurrected them and forgave them A man was killed and they asked Musa AS to help them find the murderer so Allah commanded them to slaughter a cow Surah Al Baqarah is so referred due to the story of the Israelites reluctance to obey Allah The finally obeyed Musa AS and Allah commanded them to touch the dead man s body with the meat of the cow and he came back to life to identify his murderer When Musa s AS people still disbelieved Allah sealed their hearts and the entire generation of people passed away in the desert before reaching Jerusalem After Musa AS and Harun AS, Prophet Yousha (Joshua) guided the Israelites He lead his people to Jerusalem and was instructed by Allah to liberate the city before sunset When the sun started to set he made duah And Allah delayed the sun from

9 setting to Allah him to enter Jerusalem Many years after Musa (AS) had passed away and the children of Israel had been blessed with a succession of prophets to lead them. Each time a nabee died Allah appointed a new prophet to succeed him One such Prophet was nabee Shammil (Samaul) who is not named in the Quran but is mentioned 252. The Israelites lacked a king and asked prophet Samaul to ask Allah to appoint a king Allah appointed TalÛt (Saul) as their king and he lead a small army against a mighty enemy lead by a fearsome warrior Goliath 254. A young shepherded boy named Dawood challenged Goliath and killed him Allah made Dawood AS to become the next king and prophet of Banu Israel It was nabee Dawud s habit to go into the wilderness to make thikr, and Allah caused the mountains to make thikr with him Allah revealed the Holy Book The Zaboor (Psalms) to Dawood AS 258. The most beloved fasting to Allah was the fasting of the Prophet David, who used to fast alternate days. And the most beloved prayer to Allah was the prayer of David, who used to sleep the first half of the night, and pray for one third of it and again sleep for a sixth of it.'" 259. Allah taught nabee Dawud the ability to use iron which allowed their army to have the most advanced weapons amongst the people Allah blessed Dawud (AS) with a mighty son who was given knowledge and wisdom as a child. His name was Sulaiman AS 261. Dawud (AS) lived to a 100 years thanks to the 40 or 60 years gifted to him by Adam (AS). On Dawud s death thousands of people including the birds came to attend prophet Dawud s janzah Sulaiman AS took over the position as the king and prophet of the Israelites Sulaiman ruled with guidance and wisdom and was given might and strength 264. Allah further increased him by giving Sulaiman the power to speak to animals and to control the wind and to be master over all of the Jinn controlling them with his will His kingdom was so powerful that no one kingdom will equal his in answer to the duah he made to Allah 266. He heard of a queen of the country of Sa ba were worshiping the son 267. He called her to his kingdom and brought her mighty throne to him before she reached his city 268. When she saw that Sulaiman AS was not a normal king she believed in Islam and Sulaiman AS married her Zakariyah (AS) is mentioned 7 times in the Quran. He was a prophet sent to Banu Israel after Dawud and Sulaiman and just prior to the coming of Isa (Jesus) (AS) at the time of Zakariyah the children of Israel were ruled by a guided leader known as Imran. The third Surah of the Quran Ali Imran (Family of Imran) is named after him 271. The wife Imran longed for a son who would serve in the path of Allah but Allah blessed her with a daughter named Mariam 272. Prophet Zakariyah AS was married to Mariam s aunt 273. When lots was drawn as to who would care for Mariam Prophet Zakariyah AS

10 watched over her as she stayed in the temple He saw how Allah would send her special fruits out of season 275. He too longed for a son but had reached old age 276. He stood long in prayer in his Mihrab praying for a son. Allah accepted his duah and healed his wife Allah named this boy Yahya Zakariyah (AS) fasted from speech for three days as a sign from Allah Yahya AS grew up to be caring and loving to all creatures and especially caring to his old parents All blessed Yahya AS with prophethood 281.
