The minister commended the efforts of the workers at the site for their selflessness in carrying out their duties under various circumstances, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, Al-Shamali congratulated the workers on the occasion of Ramadan wishing them further success. He also listened to a detailed explanation about the nature of KOC operations in the area. The minister was accompanied on the tour by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Nizar Al-Adsani and the KOTC Chairman and KPC Managing Director for Government and Parliament, Public & Media Relations Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid Al-Sabah and a number of top oil officials. 2 KPC CEO Visits KOC Meeting discussed latest changes in oil sector The KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani has visited the Company along with a number of officials. They were received by KOC CEO Hashim.S. Hashim. The two sides held a meeting during which Al-Adsani spoke about the latest changes in the oil sector, and highlighted the role of KOC in the coming period in terms of achieving production and operational goals as well as the execution of projects as scheduled. For his part, Hashim welcomed Al-Adsani s visit and his accompanying delegation, while stressing KOC s keenness to develop work mechanisms and implement strategic goals in the desired manner. The meeting also included a discussion during which the KPC CEO received and addressed questions from the attendees. New Oil Field Discovered in Kabd Discovery far from inhabited areas KOC has announced the discovery of a new oil field comprising commercial quantities of oil and gas at Kabd area, west of the country. CEO Hashim S. Hashim told reporters on this occasion that the primary results of the discovery marked the flow of commercial quantities of oil and gas from the above-mentioned field, located to the north of the Managuish field. Hashim emphasized that 5500 barrels per day and 4,5 million square feet of associated gas poured out of the exploratory well in the new field. 2 The well will be developed soon, since there is a following phase that could take 4 to 5 years before commissioning the field on the official output timetable, after the completion of the demarcation of the reservoir limits in the field and the count of the required wells to reach the maximum production from it Hashim affirmed. He added that the new field is located far from the residential areas and stables and that Kabd is a huge area, while the new field was situated at the extreme north besides the Salmi line.

3 Three Groups Organize Safety Day Event themed, Management of H2S in NK Jurassic Gas Project The Gas Field Development Group, the Production and Project (Gas) and Planning (Gas) have recently held their annual Safety Day. The theme of this year s Safety Day was management of H2S in the North Kuwait Jurassic Gas Project. During the event, former DMD NK Hosnia Hashim spoke about the ongoing work of KOC s H2S Taskforce and how KOC s partner, Shell, is providing technical expertise. Other speakers included Manager Gas field Development Group Ealian Al-Anzi, Manager Production and Project Gas Group, Ali Al-Kandari, Vice President Development Growth & JV Dave Masson (Shell), Country Chairman Ahmad Atallah (Shell) and Team Leader Operations & Maintenance Bader Al-Qaoud. The event was chaired by the excellent hosts Senior Process engineer Haytham Al Habshi and Planner Maryam Al Houli. Around 150 people attended the successful event and feedback given included the appetite to learn more about this very important topic. Buildings Maintenance Team Organizes Blood Donation Campaign Campaign involved Ahmadi Services Contractors The Buildings Maintenance Team organised a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Blood Bank and the Ahmadi Hospital, within the framework of the continuous campaigns being held by the Company. The campaign, this time targeted contractors working under the umbrella of the Ahmadi Services Group. Dr. Abdul Ridha Dashti, of the Ahmadi Hospital s Health Awareness Department, delivered a presentation asserting the importance and benefits of blood donation and the cases of donating or refraining from donating blood. Engineer Anwaar Al-Enezi, of the Buildings Maintenance Team, said in her speech that the campaign falls in line with the World Blood Donation Day. Buildings Maintenance TL Fayez Al-Mazkour told Energy that the main goal of the campaign was to make contractors have the wonderful and noble feeling of forming part of the blood donation campaigns. At least 15 employees from each group took part in the Campaign. 3

4 WK Mega Complex Contract Signed Project costs KD 17, 4 million The WK Directorate has signed a contract with the Enma a Real Estate Company for the construction of its new Mega Complex to the tune of KD 17,4 million. The signing ceremony was attended by former WK DCEO Adnan Al-Aradi and the Enma'a Company s CEO Waleed Al-Jary, along with other officials from both sides. In a speech he delivered on the occasion, Al-Aradi called on the concerned parties to consider the HSE issue and to work as a team in order to implement the project in the most desired manner. He added that the idea of mega office complex is in line with KOC s decentralization vision to ensure that services are available in each Directorate. Al-Aradi expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the project and prepared engineering designs as well as contracts. For his part, Al-Jary emphasized his company s eagerness to implement the project on schedule, in cooperation with all the concerned parties. In the meantime, the Team Leader (Projects Management) Farooq Al-Hindal, indicated that the design of the building is inspired by the desert landscape shaped as a snake in a defensive posture. He added that the project is due to complete by Workshop Between KOC, KNPC Meeting aims to boost coordination in technical aspects The Gas Operations Group has organized a workshop with participants drawn from the Kuwait Oil Company and Kuwait National Petroleum Company to discuss technical aspects related to production and outline solutions in order to minimize gas flaring. The meeting was attended by Gas Operations TL (N&WK) Adnan Al-Adwani and TL Gas Operations (S&WK) Hamad Al-Zuwayyer and Water Handling (WK) TL Salman Al-Qabandi, along with a host of section heads. The workshop lasted for two days, where the first day was dedicated to the discussion of technical aspects for Desulfurization in both Shuaibah and Ahmadi refineries while the second day tackled technical issues pertaining to gas removal plant in Ahmadi refinery. Overall, the workshop focused on means of enhancing communication and coordination between the two sides as well as laying down optimal solutions for pertinent technical issues due to the inseparable nature of the two companies operations. 4

5 Al-Abdurrazzaq: Oil Sector Commitment to CSR highly appreciated The Central Blood Bank Services Controller at the Ministry of Health Dr. Rana Al-Abdurrazzaq expressed appreciation towards the oil sector s commitment to its social responsibilities, its continuous participation in blood donation campaigns and its encouragement of employees to take part in such events. She was commenting on the positive outcome of the celebration of the World Blood Donors Day themed Celebrating the Donation of Live, during which a number of state institutions, including the oil sector, societies and individuals, were honored. High among the prominent bodies that were honored was KOC, represented by the Ahmadi Hospital. "The oil sector was one of those bodies constantly eager to participate in any effort to donate blood and encourage employees to do so, a gesture that we highly appreciate, she maintained. While KNPC came in the first position on the ranking of regular blood donors this year, the Ahmadi Hospital, of KOC was 4 th. 2 nd KOC Chess, Checkers Championship Various segments of society took part KOC organized the 2 nd Chess and Checkers Championship amid a high turnout by the Company staff and their families. Men, women, youngsters and players from outside KOC also took part in the event. The Championship took place in a competitive atmosphere in a bid to clinch the precious gifts that were allocated by KOC. 5

6 Fluor Celebrates 10 Years of Partnership with KOC 60 million manhours also celebrated The Flour Company has held a town hall meeting to celebrate 10 years of partnership with KOC and the achievement of 60 million manhours. The event was attended by Fluor Vice President Ashley Rees and Team Leader PMC Management, Saeid Al-Duwaisan, along with a number of officials from both sides, as well as a host of employees and contractors. On the occasion, Rees delivered a speech in which he highlighted the fruitful relationship between the two sides and expressed appreciation for the opportunity availed to his Company to execute a number of KOC s mega projects over the past decade. For his part, Al-Duwaisan described the achievement of 60 million manhours as a major success that has been realized thanks to the tireless efforts of the employees, while expressing appreciation to Fluor for these achievements. Al-Duwaisan received a plaque on behalf of the Company and prizes were distributed among a number of Fluor employees in recognition of their efforts. Maintenance Team Holds Farewell for Three Employees The Maintenance Team (SK) organized a farewell ceremony for three of its employees. The event was attended by SK Operations Manager Shaker Faras and Maintenance Team Leader Yousef Al-Humoud. The honorees included Maintenance Supervisor, Ahmad Al-Adwani, Senior Foreman (Mechanical Maintenance) Mubarak Al-Azmi and Senior Foreman (Mechanical Maintenance) Fanar Al-Dosary. The Group Manager and Team Leader have both commended the efforts of the three colleagues in service of the Company. Al-Adwani spoke on behalf of the honorees where he highlighted the true friendship that prevails in the Team. 6

7 KOC organizes yearly Qerqe an Celebration Event saw huge turnout by employees children The Social Services Team organised the yearly celebration of Qerqe an (a traditional mixture of toffee and kernels) for the employees children at the KOC Tent in Ahmadi. Children were accompanied by their parents to the Tent in a joyful Ramadan atmosphere to attend the festivities that lasted until late on the nights of July with the participation of a popular folklore band and cartoon characters to the amusement of children. Senior Administrative Affairs Officer Khaled Al-Muhanna told Energy newsletter that the most important aspect this year was the number of children and parents that attended the Qerqe an celebration organised by KOC for their entertainment and joy. Several contests and games for children and adults were also organised in a joyful ambiance with the participation of parents in this traditional activity, customary of the holy month.... And Another Qerqe'an At Ahmadi Hospital In keeping with tradition during the month of Ramadan, the Ahmadi Hospital distributed Qerqean to children admitted to hospital to amuse them and make them feel happy and comfortable. The event took place in the attendance of and participation by the hospital Manager, Dr. Emad Al-Awad and a group representing the medical and nursery staff. Dr. Al-Awad, accompanied by the Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Aref Al-Abbasi and the Head of the Administrative Support Services Team, Qusai Al-Amer, toured the children wards and handed them the Qerqean bags. This humanitarian gesture impressed the children, who were deprived, as a result of health problems, from sharing this traditional Ramadan celebration with their peers. 8 No August 2013 Ramadan Center at Al-Ashjaee Mosque Al-Khawari: Ramadan initiatives aimed at community service KOC has put in place an eventful program to mark the holy month of Ramadan which included a set of activities befitting the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month. Corporate Services Manager Ismael Al- Khawari affirmed that the Company has created a Ramadan Center this year, the first of its kind, in Al-Ashjaee Mosque. In this regard, the center was prepared at an early stage through regular maintenance of the mosque to accommodate worshippers and provide services. Al-Khawari further indicated that the Company has also handed out a special gift containing a booklet about Ramadan and imsakiah. The activities of the center also included carefully selected religious presentations delivered throughout the month in accordance with a timetable set for this purpose, in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs (Ahmadi Mosques Department). Religious contests have been equally conducted involving the worshippers with the winners receiving prizes. An elite group of local and foreign reciters was hosted to lead prayers. Al-Khawari concluded by stating that the Company constantly seeks to contribute to the community, in line with its corporate social responsibility through a wide range of initiatives and activities organized throughout the year. 8
