5 Introduction Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology Khuzdar is a well-known public sector university providing a technical base for development of country by producing about 230 technically sound, professional & motivated Engineers every year. The Engineers passed out out from this institution are contributing their due share in development of country by serving in different public & private organizations. BUETK contributes in defining standards & systems for the up-lift Of socio-economic order through quality education and services by providing an environment conducive to learning, teaching, academic inquiry and innovation maintaining academic excellence and professionalism adhering to establish systems for ensuring good governance for management and transfer of knowledge benchmarking with other leading institutions of higher education for improvement enhancing efficient and effective operations by encouraging participation of stakeholders pursuing continuous improvement through creativity, team work and adaptation to change for playing a catalytic role to achieve the national, regional and global. Since last decades, Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology Khuzdar has achieved important milestones and gained immense significance as an institution of higher education in Pakistan. The university produces professionals and researchers of very high caliber, capable of developing indigenous technologies to meet the growing demands of the 21st century. Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology Khuzdar has a team of devoted and foreign qualified faculty, state of art laboratories, well-furnished central and departmental libraries, newly established directorate Office of Research, innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) in pursuance of HEC Policy, students hostels and other basic facilities of life. 8 Foreword BUETK third convocation coincides with the decade celebrations and provides us the opportunity to review our performance and up to date of the history of the University. Students of BUETK, join the university with the urge to gain meaningful and rewarding education and pass out on the completion of their cherished ambitions with confidence and competence to fulfill their social and professional duties. They are equipped with assurance and intellectual maturity of successfully completing not only the prescribed courses of study but of successfully achieving an emancipated outlook to think and work independently. Convocation is an immense public occasion when the University celebrates the accomplishments of its graduates. It is a commemoration of a student s life at their University and an opportunity to share this significant milestone with faculty, peers, family and friends. It is great pleasure for us to announce that the Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology, Khuzdar, is holding its 3rd convocation in the month of 25 October, 2016 to confer degrees and award medals and prizes to those, who proved themselves worthy of the same in undergraduate programs. The university is offering degree programs which are directly relevant to the economic development of Balochistan and to the emergence of the region as a hub of advancement in modern sciences, engineering and management. The university is growing with breadth and depth of concentration on meaningful learning and productive research. Bringing modern education to the doorsteps of youth, without putting undue financial strain on the finances of their parents/ guardians is the cherished ambition of all public sector universities in the country and they are shouldering this responsibility to the utmost in comparison with the financial/material resources being provided to them by the government. The Faculty Development Program undertaken by the university in collaboration with HEC has started yielding tangible results. Faculty members sent abroad for MS and Ph.D studies have completed their programs successfully and are contributing to the academic accomplishments at this university by sharing their newly gained knowledge and expertise with the students. BUETK has already managed to develop a critical mass of academic expertise which can he turned to good account for the promotion of excellence in higher studies and research. The impact of this development has started becoming discernible and is likely to make a techno-scientific-industrial breakthrough in the country s least developed region. There is dire necessity of peaceful atmosphere for the achievement of laudable milestones in our quest for quality. Unfortunately the region has been infected by political unrest and terrorist activities which are a matter of concern for all the patriotic citizens of Pakistan. The prevailing dissatisfactory state of the situation inland and across the borders is a matter of worry for all the forward looking people. Our law and order problems are putting unnecessary strain on our much needed financial resources which are rapidly shrinking and marring the process of the cherished development. In spite of the financial cuts and restraints imposed by the government, BUETK continues to provide quality educational services without any hindrance. The availability of Video- Conferencing facility at Campus is a major development which enables the university to come in closer association with HEC and other universities. The facility also provides access to guidance from foreign educational sources. We are confident that our alumni would contribute considerably towards the society. Mamnoon Hussain (President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan) On the auspicious occasion of 3rd Convocation of Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar (BUETK), I appreciate the services of the Vice Chancellor, management and the faculty for not only equipping the students with the most valuable tool of education but also for the growth and further development of the University to cater for the educational requirements of the area in a significant manner. The BUETK, in a relatively short span of time, has secured a significant place in the Higher Education Commission s ranking of the national universities. It has earned recognition in providing quality education in the disciplines like Engineering, and computer Science and Information Technology. I wish to congratulate the Vice Chancellor for his tireless efforts and spectacular vision for turning BUETK into hub of opportunities for the students of periphery of Balochistan and the heart of CPEC. All those associated with the University deserve to be complimented for the progress it has made and the milestones achieved. This institution has bagged a reputation of building the economy of Balochistan in specific and Pakistan in general, as Engineers are reckoned assets for the Game Changer programme CPEC. In this regard the Vice Chancellor has paid special attention to the skill sets of future builders of our nation in order to make them capable and competent professional Engineers of Pakistan. It is worthy to mention the commendable efforts of the Vice Chancellor due to which BUETK is now ranked amongst the best Engineering Universities in the Country. Universities not only impart knowledge but they are also meant for directing their students towards the development of society and nation by providing the education. Market based education especially professional education is the back bone of the economy. BUETK has no doubt, been a ray of hope despite the odds during the last decade. 14 Message from Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad (Chairman, Higher Education Commission) I am pleased to learn that Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology, Khuzdar (BUETK), has scheduled its 3rd successive convocation and extend warm wishes to the Vice Chancellor, learned faculty of BUETK for being so dedicated to the cause of quality education, and management in their efforts to manage the event successfully. It is a matter of immense pleasure to see that BUETK is focusing on paving the path for progress of the society by providing well trained human resource required for full utilization of our resources, which has solely made possibly be the far-sighted and insightful leadership of the Vice Chancellor. Higher Education Commission (HEC) is also encouraging to see that the university is producing high caliber graduates from the very beginning for development of the society and it has consolidated its position as an institution of trust. Higher Education Commission has been supporting BUETK since its inception and it will keep on doing so in future. It s unfortunate that budget cuts on higher education compelled us to dismantle some areas of training and development, but our commitment to higher education stands fast and we are committed to realizing our cherished goals. We encourage Public sector universities to move ahead to have their feet fixed firmly on the ground so they may not totally depend on HEC for finances. Today is the day of celebration not only for graduating students and their parents but for the Faculty, Staff, members of academic council and syndicate to witness the fruits of their hard work and contributions in their respective capacities. This traditional and memorable event provides us an opportunity to recognize the achievements of our graduates publicly, and deservingly a time of great pride for you, your family and the staff who have guided you during your stay at the University. The university is proud of its reputation and the quality of its graduates. We believe, it is the perfect place in which to grow academically and professionally because the innovative and effective academic ambiance of this university involves the potential of its students in an exciting way that perhaps students have never imagined before. The university is widely known as an institution of strong performance and high ambition as in last few years it has continued to make excellent progress towards its goals. 19 BATCHES OF GRADUATING STUDENTS The 3rd convocation of Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar is being held to award degrees to the following batches in different programs of study. 1. 20 ORDER OF PROCEEDINGS On the prescribed time all guests are seated and the procession with Guests of honor will be entered in the convocation Hall. Academic Procession The teacher / officers of the university will then form a two lines procession leading by Registrar and walk into the Convocation Hall in reverse order of seniority, The, Chancellor, Guests of honour and the Vice Chancellor will follow at the back of the procession. Academic Procession enters the Convocation Hall. As soon as the procession enters, all shall rise from their seats and remain standing till the Chancellor, Guests of honour and the Vice Chancellor take their seats on the dais. Announcement: Stage compare (Engr. Jan Sher Khan) will make announcements. * Announcement to sing the National Anthem is made and all the participants will stand up. * The Chief Guest is requested to declare the Convocation open. Chief Guest: "I declare the convocation open." Announcement: * To properly start the convocation, Qari Sahab is called to recite few verses from the Holy Quran. * The Vice Chancellor is requested to come on the dais for welcome address. * The registrar is called on dais to start the formal proceedings. The Registrar: Ladies and Gentlemen! As you know the Convocation is a lifetime event in the life of students. It is a very auspicious occasion and one which all students look forward to. 50 Civil Engineering Department The Department of Civil Engineering at the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Khuzdar is the oldest and the largest in Balochistan. The department has produced 589 engineers who have made significant contributions in the planning and execution of Civil Engineering projects in the national as well as international level. The department offers a four-year course leading to Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. Vision The department of Civil Engineering strives to graduate highly qualified engineers, maintain nationally recognized research and provide quality professional and community service to the region and the world. Electrical Engineering Department The Electrical Engineering Department at the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Khuzdar came into being along with the establishment of the Balochistan Engineering College in The Electrical Engineering Department is one of the largest departments in the university. Department of Computer Systems Engineering & Sciences Computer Engineering and Computer Science are integral part of modern day development. Keeping this in view, Department of Computer Systems Engineering and Sciences (CSE&S) at Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology was established in Currently CSE&S department offers Bachelor of Engineering program in Computer Systems Engineering in morning and programs of BS (Computer Science) and Master of Computer Science (MCS) in evening. CSE&S department also offers degree programs of MS computer science and ME computer engineering over weekends. It is also worth mentioning that this department is also responsible for video conferencing facilities and Network infrastructure services at BUETK. The aim of the CSE&S Department has always been to provide high quality education in the field of Computer systems Engineering, Computer Sciences and Information Technology (IT) to highly talented young generation of Balochistan in particular and all across Pakistan in general, through target oriented teaching and problem oriented research.
