Detailed Itinerary DAY 01; HYDERABAD On arrival at Hyderabad airport, meet with our office representative, assistance and transfer to hotel, check in. Rest day free for personal activities, relax etc. Overnight at hotel. Hyderabad: founded on the River Musi five miles east of Golconda, in by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. In the 16th century the city grew rapidly along the banks of river Musi. Many buildings sprang up along the River Musi and Golconda was the capital of the Qutb Shahi rulers. Hyderabad, under the Nizams, was the largest princely state in India. Area wise it was as big as England and Scotland put together. The State had its own currency, mint, railways, and postal system. There was no income tax. Soon after India gained independence, Hyderabad State merged with the Union of India. On November 1, 1956 the map of India was redrawn into linguistic states, and Hyderabad became the capital of Andhra Pradesh. DAY 02; HYDERABAD Breakfast at hotel, explore this wondrous capital, a 400 year-old metropolitan city teeming with bustling-bazaars and Muslim monuments. Begin with excursion visit to Golconda Fort one of the most magnificent fortress complexes in India once famous for its diamond mines. The history of Golconda Fort dates back to the early 13th century, when this south eastern part of the country was ruled by the Kakatiyas. It is built on a granite hill 120 metres high, and is surrounded by crenellated ramparts constructed of large masonry blocks weighing several tonnes. The massive gates are studded with large pointed iron spikes to prevent elephants from battering them down. The outer wall surrounding the entire township of Golconda, is about 11 kilometres long, and is strongly fortified. In its heyday, the 10 kilometre long road from Golconda to outer Hyderabad, was a fabulous market selling jewellery, diamonds, pearls and other gems, which were famous all over the world. Qutub Shahi Tombs quite close to the Golconda fort are the tombs of the seven Qutub Shahi rulers in the Ibrahim Bagh. The galleries of the smaller tombs are of a single story while the larger ones are two storied. In the centre of each tomb is a sarcophagus which overlies the actual burial vault in a crypt below. The domes were originally overlaid with blue and green tiles, of which only a few pieces now remain. The tombs are domed structures built on a square base surrounded by pointed arches. The mausoleums
of the Sultans of Golconda, the founding rulers of Hyderabad are truly magnificent monuments that have stood the test of time and braved the elements. In the city visit Charminar an imposing monument, which reflects the glory of the Qutub Shahi dynasty. It is a massive square structure, 56 m ( ft) high and 30 m (98.42 ft) wide. This monument is built entirely of granite and lime mortar. It has 4 minarets one on each of its corners. These fluted minarets are attached to the main building and rise towards the sky to a height of 56 m ( ft). Each minaret of the Charminar has a double balcony. A small bulbous cupola crowns each of these beautiful minarets, which is decorated with petal like formations. A short pointed spire crowns all the minarets. This beautiful colossus in granite, lime, mortar and, some say, pulverized marble, was at one time the heart of the city. This great tribute to aesthetics looks sturdy and solid from a distance but as one moves closer, it emerges as an elegant and romantic edifice proclaiming its architectural eminence in all its detail and dignity. Grand Mecca Masjid: oldest masjids in the city & the biggest. Muhammed Quli Qutub Shah began building it in 1617 under the supervision of Mir Faizullah Baig and Rangiah Choudhary. Mughal emperor Aurangzeb completed the construction in It took 77 years to come up as the magnificent edifice we see today. Overnight at hotel. DAY 03; HYDERABAD - BIDAR GULBARGA (250KMS/ 5HRS) Breakfast at hotel, drive to Gulbarga en route visiting Bidar a tiny district steeped in history of India. Bidar has lots of historical monuments from Bahmani era. The structure of the great Mahmud Gawan Arabic University is reminiscent of the rich architecture of the Bahmani era. The Bidar Fort situated next to the city is one of the biggest forts in India. Sultan Alla-Ud-Din Bahman of the Bahmanid Dynasty shifted his capital from Gulbarga to Bidar in 1427 and built this fort along with a number of Islamic monuments. Constructed on the edge of the plateau, has a haphazard quadrangular layout plan of 0.75 miles (1.21 km) in length and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) breadth. The peripheral length of the fort walls measure 4,500 yards (4,100 m). The walls, bastions, gates and barbicans of Bidar, though in ruins, are well preserved and considered as some of the most stylish in India. It is surrounded by a triple moat. Jami Masjid; a large mosque, is without minarets or prominent domes. The mosque though simple in design but has a symmetrical plan with well-organized constituent parts. Solah Khamba Masjid; (16 pillared mosque) with a notable dome built on a 16-sided drum in the fort was built in Its long
prayer hall has nineteen passageways; each passage is five compartments deep. In plan, the mosque measures 295 feet (90 m) x 77 feet (23 m). The main prayer hall is supported by 18 piers; the other areas of the mosque are supported by 60 round piers. All the piers support a roof which has 84 domes. The domes are flat with features of pendentives. Massive circular columns supporting the structure are fashioned with leafy motifs at the top. The Mihrab (prayer niche) located on the rear wall is enclosed by a cusped arch. On arrival check-in at Hotel, rest time free & easy to relax. Overnight at hotel. The northern Deccan, including the district of Gulbarga, passed under control of the Sultanate of Delhi. The revolt of the officers appointed from Delhi resulted in founding of the Bahmani Sultanate in 1347 by Hassan Gangu, who chose Gulbarga (Ahsenabad during this period) to be his capital. From 1724 to 1948 Gulbarga was part of Hyderabad state ruled by the famous Nizams. It was integrated into India in September 1948 after the Indian army defeated the Nizam. Gulbarga was known as 'Kalburgi' in former days which means stony land in Kannada, but also means "rose petals" in poetic Persian. Sharan basaveshwara temple is a famous Hindu temple which is located at the heart of the Gulbarga city. Sharan was a guru and basav is shishya who upheld the relation of guru shishyas. Hazrat Khwaja Bande Nawaz mausoleum built by the then Bahamani King Ahmed Shah Wali. Khwaja Bande Nawaz Gesudiraz played an important role in preaching Islam in the Indian context during the 14th century. Gulbarga's old moated fort is in a deteriorated state, but it has a number of interesting buildings inside including the Jama Masjid, reputed to have been built by a Moorish architect during the late 14th or early 15th century who imitated the great mosque in Cordoba, Spain. The mosque is unique in India, with a huge dome covering the whole area, four smaller ones at the corners, and 63 smaller still all the way around. The fort itself has 15 towers.

The church that is present here today was supposed to have been rebuilt in 1619 from an earlier church. Rest time to relax on the beach. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 11; GOA Breakfast at hotel, day at leisure for spending time on the beach, touring Goa on your own or relaxing at your resort / hotel. Optionally visit South Goa Temples, Old Portuguese Manor (without guide). Sri Bhagawati Temple supposed to be over 500 years old and is dedicated to Goddess Ashtabhuja or Eight Handed Goddess. The temple is constructed in a grand style and the entrance is flanked by two statues of elephants. Shri Shantadurga Temple dedicated to the Goddess known as Shantadurga who is known to be a peaceful form of Goddess Durga. According to legends, she settled a major dispute between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu amicably. The temple is constructed beautifully and is located amidst scenic landscapes. Shri Mangesh Temple beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The lovely temple attracts lots of devotees and the architecture of the temple follows every norm of the traditional Hindu architectural style. Rest time to relax on the beach. Overnight at hotel. DAY 12; GOA MUMBAI (flight) Breakfast at hotel transfer to airport to board flight for Mumbai. On arrival assistance and transfer to hotel. Rest time to explore the city with your driver. Mumbai is a bustling city that blends the old with the new. See the stark contrast of this wealthy city, with its palm-lined streets, art deco homes and fashionable shopping areas amid the chaos of daily life, where cows roam the streets and wallas (local tradesmen) ply their trade. Overnight at hotel. DAY 13; MUMBAI Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Gateway of India and board a ferry from here to The Elephanta Caves, an island 11kms from Mumbai, proud to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Elephanta Caves contain rock cut stone sculptures that show syncretism of Hindu and Buddhist ideas and iconography. The caves are hewn from solid basalt rock. Except for a few exceptions, much of the artwork is defaced and damaged. The main temple's orientation as well as the relative location of other temples are placed in a mandala pattern. The carvings narrate Hindu mythologies, with the large monolithic 20 feet (6.1 m) Trimurti Sadashiva (three-faced Shiva), Nataraja (Lord of dance) and Yogishvara (Lord of Yoga) being the most celebrated (few steps of walking involve not recommended for wheel chaired passenger).
Return to Gateway of India and begin the city tour of Mumbai. Visit fascinating 'Getaway of India' that gives you a ringside view of the 'madness and magic' of MUMBAI - the living city that 'never sleeps'. Visit Includes Dhobi Ghat, Mani Bhavan, Marine drive, Drive passes High Court, Prince of wales Museum, University, Flora fountain, Visit to Crawford Market & Victoria terminus now CST, Babulnath Temple, Banganga tank. The idea behind the tour is for you to experience the city the way locals do, to see Mumbai from an insider s perspective. We will make sure you experience the real spirit of Mumbai.
