1 SHIVA LINGA ASHTAKAM MANTRA & MEANING Shiva Lingashtakam Mantra or Shiva Linga Ashtakam Mantra is a highly revered prayer to Lord Shiva. Shiva Lingashtakam Mantra features eight Stanzas on Shivalinga and it is said that any Shiva devotee who chants the holy octet of the Shiva Linga Ashtakam with great devotion would in the end get moksha and reach the Shiva Loka (the world of Lord Shiva). 1

6 Kumkuma Chandana Lepita Lingam Pankaja Haara Sushobhita Lingam Sanchita Paapa Vinaashana Lingam One who is smeared with kumkum and sandal-paste, One who is adorned with the garland of snakes, One who destroys the accumulated sins of past lives, 6

9 Suraguru Suravara Puujita Lingam Suravana Pushpa Sadaarchita Lingam Paraatparam Paramaatmaka Lingam One who is worshipped by Brihaspati the celestial perceptor, One who is adorned by the flowers brought from the celestial gardens, One who is the Supreme self of the great and the small, 9

Any one who chants the holy octet of the Shiva Linga Ashtakam with intense devotion and reverence, In the holy presence of Lord Shiva, Would in the end enter the world of Shiva Loka the world of Lord Shiva, And thereby keep HIM company blessed in Shiva consciousness! 10

11 The very word SHIVA stands for Absolute Blessedness, Supreme Blesedness, Supreme Auspiciousness. How Absolute Blessedness? Because once you realise that you are Blessed, Blessed, Blessed you are thrice Blessed and there is no greater Blessing. So it is Blessedness Absolute... it is SHIVAM. It is Peace Absolute... so it is SHANTAM. It is non- dual, One without a second... so it is ADWAITAM. And it is the Supreme Truth.. so it is SATYAM. And it is Supremely facinating and beautiful... so it is SUNDARAM. It is Supremely attractive... so it is KANTAM. SATYAM SHIVAM SUNDARAM KANTAM SHANTAM SHIVAM ADWAITAM We pray for all of humanity to attain divine God- consciousness and be merged in SHIVA- consciousness in Oneness with the Supreme Divine Being... May LORD SHIVA shower HIS eternal Divine Bliss and Blessedness upon all of humanity is our humble divine prayer... OM HRIIM NAMAH SHIVAAYA! 11
