1 The Messenger From the Pastor October 2015 Hello Church Family! I want to thank you for your help in purchasing Bibles for the pastors in Kenya. Our associational missionary, Dennis Phillips, says that with your help and the help of others in our association, we were able to purchase Bibles for the nearly eighty Kenyan pastors and church leaders we worked with this past August. I promise you that they will be overjoyed. It is a tremendous blessing for them to be able to receive a new Bible, especially one with study notes. They just do not have the access or the money to purchase something like this on their own. Thank you for your faithfulness to help these church leaders teach their congregations and take the good news of Jesus all over east Africa. I also want to thank you for your work on the backpacks for Appalachia. We are not far from reaching our goal of 200 from our church. If you have not packed one yet or can pack another, then please help us reach our goal. These backpacks will be a tremendous blessing to children in the Appalachian region of the United States. Most of all, it will put a Bible in the hands of these children and show them the love of Jesus Christ. Let s reach our goal so we can begin working on the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child! For those of you who participated in our Sunday School Mentoring earlier this year, I want to give you a heads up on an upcoming event. We will be having our six month meeting on November 5 th at 6:30 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. We will be discussing outreach through the Sunday School. I would love for as many people as possible to attend! Even if you did not participate during the main training that ended earlier this year, you can still come and learn. We must be more focused on outreach. We especially need to learn how to be effective in outreach through our Sunday School classes. This will be a key to growth for the future! Mark it on your calendar and do not miss this night of food and growth in what Christ wants us to do to grow His church! Speaking of outreach, I want to continue to remind you that we are currently going through training in how to be on mission for Christ all the time. During the Discipleship Training hour starting at 5pm on Sunday nights, we are going through the curriculum Life On Mission. The basic thrust is to learn how to make our lives a continual mission for Jesus. You will learn how to simply and easily share Christ with someone, how to start conversations with non-believers about the gospel, and incorporate being a witness for Jesus on a regular basis. It is not too late to join us. I hope to see you there! Pastor Jeff Pastor Rev. Jeff Waters
2 Pag e 2 The Messenger October 2015 A Note from the Minister of Music Well, fall is officially here! The year has flown by and I am excited to see how God moves this last three months of the year.
