1 2017 Youth Group Mission Trip To strengthen youth in their walk with Jesus Christ, and to prepare them for the secular world they will encounter after high school. Immerse is a 6-day ministry trip for high school youth groups. Participants will engage in several diverse service projects and experiences. They will also receive training from local pastors and leaders. Time each day will be devoted to personal devotions, service, training, testimonies, and group debriefing. Participants will serve alongside various churches and organizations in the Lincoln area that are seeking to bring about restoration and hope to the hurting. Participants will employ a variety of skills and gifts, and hear dynamic stories of life change from local church members. Teams will serve at-risk children and teenagers, homeless, working class poor, incarcerated, refugees, and those struggling with substance abuse. Immerse will raise awareness and challenge students to deepen their relationship with Christ, understand their gifting, and respond to God s call in their lives. Immerse is a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church.

10 2017 Youth Group Mission Trip Serving Week s Schedule and Prayer for the Day: Sunday: Worship at F Street Neighborhood Church, Northern Lighthouse and Bolivar House Prayer for the day That our students transition from the journey to worship and service. Monday: Service at Northern Lighthouse, Foster Care Closet and the Bike Kitchen Prayer for the day Lord give us a servant s heart filled with compassion. Tuesday: Service in Omaha at Restored Hope; dinner and shared mission stories Prayer for the day Lord give us a vision to serve the suffering and down trodden. Wednesday: Service at Homeless Prevention Center and Bolivar House; dinner and story at Butler s house. Prayer for the day Inspire us with stories of love to those in need. Thursday: Service at F Street Neighborhood Church, Power of Poverty Training and Food Net Prayer for the day Give us the skill and insight to serve others well. 11 2017 Youth Group Mission Trip Return Route Departing Lincoln at 5:00 am on Saturday April 8th. The basic route back is through the Dakota Badlands to see Mt. Rushmore in the early afternoon. Again prayers for a safe return trip and trouble free drive.

16 2017 Youth Group Mission Trip Planning Mission Trip Pre-planning: Sunday evening March 19 th Youth Group break them into teams to accomplish the following tasks, or work together to brainstorm ideas and then assign specific tasks: Cooking Team: Plan breakfast menu for your team. Make a grocery list. Menu should include breakfasts for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Snap pictures of your menu and grocery list and text it to Beth. Crafts Team: Plan a simple craft or art project that can be done with children of a variety of ages. If possible, be prepared to communicate a simple spiritual truth through the craft. This craft/project may be used at a children's' table at a FoodNet ministry (approximately 3-7 children), and also with the children at the Bolivar House (a Christian Community House children). This does not need to be fancy, just interactive and fun for the kids. A Christ-centered craft would be wonderful. A Bible story may be read along with the craft/project. Snap a picture of the craft or a description of the craft and send to Beth. Lunch Devotions Team: Have two different students share a short "devotional" prior to lunch on two separate days. Devotionals should be less than 5 minutes, and include a prayer for the meal. Devotions might include the reading of a favorite Bible passage, a short story or illustration, and/or a personal spiritual experience or challenge that ties to the Scripture. Type up a short description of what will be shared, snap a picture, and send it to Beth. (Note: It is fine if you end up changing what you want to share, based on personal experiences on the trip.)

17 2017 Youth Group Mission Trip Planning Youth Group Mission Trip Pre-planning Notes: Here is an update for our Immerse Mission Trip: Sunday, March 24 th - We will have a send off from the church for the youth. Please have your student there if at all possible. After church your child will be provided a pillow case where people from the church will be writing encouraging notes so your child will be taking this along on the trip. Friday March 31 - please have your child at church by 3:30 so we can pack up and leave as close to 4:00 PM as possible. Please provide a snack to share for the trip. Expenditures on the way - Your child will be responsible for approximately 8 meals on the road: (1 breakfast, 3 lunches, 3-4 dinners) Plan for approximately $10/meal. If you want to provide extra $ for snacks, souvenirs, provide at your own discretion. Luggage - Your student is allowed 1 duffle bag or soft carry-on suitcase AND a small back pack for the van. Remember sleeping bag/pillow and other items that were included in the suggested list provided by Immerse. Friday, April 7 th - We will be visiting the Omaha Zoo on. The cost of tickets was included in the Immerse registration fee. Sunday April 9 th Best estimate is arrival at FCF by 8:00 PM. While this is later than originally planned, the consensus from several parents that it was worth taking the extra travel time.
