Parents: O God, as we hear our sons and daughters confirm their baptism, You have touched us with a quiet sense of joy. We have watched them grow in wisdom and in favor with You and their fellow disciples. We thank You for forming their lives through Your Church, and we rejoice in the opportunity to call them brothers and sisters in Christ. This amazing group of youth love the Lord, and love music, and love sharing both with you. We chose some special songs this morning, particularly our Offertory Anthem, Trust in You. The composer is a name you may recognize from American Idol a few years ago, but that s only the beginning of Lauren Diagle s story. Recently nominated for numerous Grammy and Dove Awards, she found herself at home after the big announcements reading the story of a man who went to help Mother Teresa in Calcutta. Upon his arrival, Mother Teresa asked if there was anything she could do for him. He said, You can pray for me and pray that I have clarity. She told him no, she wouldn t pray for clarity, because that was the last thing he was holding on to. He was surprised and asked what she meant. She said I ve never had clarity, I ve only had trust. Shortly thereafter, Lauren learned that her Grandfather, who had helped to raise her, had been given just a few months to live. She was devistated, but reminded herself that God was teaching her a new level of faith in trust. If we step to the right or to the left, He is there with us. What poignant lyrics for ALL ages to remember on this Confirmation Sunday. When You don t move the mountains I m needing You to move When You don t part the waters I wish I could walk through When You don t give the answers as I cry out to You I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
