All rights Reserved. CCLI License No RECEPTION OF PRAYER REQUESTS SCRIPTURE READING Luke 15:1-3, Jesus tells a parable about a son who ponders his father's love only after he has spurned it. The grace he receives is beyond his hopes. That same grace is a crisis for an older brother who believed it was his obedience that earned his place in the father's home. Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, "This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them."

5 So he told them this parable:.. "There was a man who had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.' So he divided his property between them. A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living. When he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed the pigs. He would gladly have filled himself with the pods that the pigs were eating; and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself he said, 'How many of my father's hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger! I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands." ' So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him. Then the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly, bring out a robe the best one and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!' And they began to celebrate. Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. He called one of the slaves and asked what was going on. He replied, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.' Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. But he answered his father, 'Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!' Then the father said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. Please remain standing after this. OFFERING PRAYER God our provider, you have not fed us with bread alone, but with words of grace and life. Bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And also with you. HOLY COMMUNION Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

8 In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 9 As you come forward receive the bread from the Pastor and then dip it in the cup held by the Communion Assistant. Then partake of the elements together. You may return to your place by using the side aisle. The Praise Band will be singing during distribution. You are welcome to sing along. PRAYER AND BLESSING O God, in this holy meal you have embraced us and gathered us into your arms of compassion and protection.release us now to go on our way in these forty days, ready to see our work as prayer, ready to fast from complacency, and ready to share with those in need; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. SOUP AND SPIRIT On the Wednesday evenings in Lent we will have our Soup and Spirit gatherings. We will offer a simple meal of soup and bread at 6 p.m. (If you need other food for dietary reasons, you are welcome to bring your own food.) (ELC/Trinity) YOUTH GROUP is sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner with all proceeds going towards the 2015 National Youth Gathering in Detroit. Please sign up so we can prepare enough food for March 23rd. All you have to bring are proper shoes, your enthusiasm, a will to participate and of course you can invite a friend. Don t miss this rock on sporting

12 event filled with friendly competition and opportunities to connect with other youth from the area. The youth group that wins the tournament received the Martin Luther Trophy which they keep for a year. We will meet on Palm Sunday, March 24, 3:00 pm 6:00 pm at Solomon s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. Come and help our youth group to win the Luther Trophy!!! EASTER FLOWERS We invite you to take part in our annual flower display on Easter by sponsoring a mum, tulip, or lily in memory or in honor of loved ones. The flowers are purchased from Fisher s Florist at the cost of $10.00 each. Please make your check payable to Trinity Lutheran Church. Order forms are located on the Welcome Table in the narthex or on the table in the fellowship area. We need 18 purple mums, 11 white mums, lilies and assorted tulips for a total of 47 for the Easter tree. Please complete and return the form to Donna Wolfe by March 17. WORSHIP ASSISTANTS NEEDED FOR HOLY WEEK AND EASTER VIGIL- Worship assistants and readers will be needed for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Saturday Easter Vigil Services. Please sign the sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex if you are able to assist. FAMILY FUN NIGHT as we lead up to the Retreat we are having a get together for Duck Pin Bowling at Turner Lanes, 1350 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, MD. We will begin at 5:30 pm. Cost is $3.50 per game. THE ANNUAL FAMILY RETREAT will be held on Friday April 19 and Saturday April 20. We will begin on Friday at 6 pm and end on Saturday at 4 pm. It will be at the Zinn-Tozer Lodge at Camp Nawakwa. Attorney Murphy will cover powers of attorney, wills, asset management, etc. Time is Tuesday, March 19 th at 7:00 PM in the Social Room of the church. The facility is handicapped accessible.
