5 GENERAL INFORMATION We warmly welcome you to this fortieth meeting of the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology (founded in 1974). If you have arrived late and have not yet registered, you may do so at the registration table in the narthex. There will be refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after registration, breaks, and following the service on Friday evening to assist us in getting to know one another. Fellowship Hall can be reached by taking the stairs to the front of the sanctuary. The Conference Bookstore is located in Reception Hall behind the sanctuary. Books by the speakers as well as on Reformed theology are available. Audio recordings of the conference can be ordered in the Narthex. Shipping is free if ordered at the conference. Music for the conference has been provided by Westminster Brass (James Hala, director), the Tenth Church Choir & Soloists; Bryan Anderson, organ, and Dr. Paul Jones, organist and music director of Tenth Presbyterian Church. 18 SPEAKERS Joel Beeke is president and professor of systematic theology and homiletics at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, pastor of the Heritage Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids, MI, editor of Banner of Sovereign Grace Truth, editorial director of Reformation Heritage Books, president of Inheritance Publishers, and vice-president of the Dutch Reformed Translation Society. He has written or edited fifty books most recently, A Puritan Theology: Doctrine for Life, and contributed fifteen hundred articles to Reformed books, journals, periodicals, and encyclopedias. He and his wife Mary have been blessed with three children: Calvin, Esther, and Lydia. Liam Goligher is senior minister of Tenth Presbyterian Church. He previously pastored churches in Ireland, Canada, England, and in his native Scotland. Dr. Goligher has been closely involved in Bible teaching and evangelistic ministry among college students. He has spoken at conventions throughout the world, and he has preached regularly at conferences and churches in the United States. Liam has contributed to more than ten books and authored four: A Window on Tomorrow, The Fellowship of the King, The Jesus Gospel, and Joseph The Hidden Hand of God. Liam married Christine Nora Hughes in They have five children and six grandchildren. Jon Payne is senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Douglasville, GA. He also serves as a visiting lecturer in practical theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta. In addition to being the series editor of and contributor to the new Lectio Continua Expository Commentary on the New Testament, Payne is also the author of John Owen and the Lord s Supper, In The Splendor of Holiness, and coeditor of A Faith Worth Teaching, a collection of essays celebrating the 450th anniversary of the Heidelberg Catechism. Jon and his wife Marla have been married for fourteen years and have two children. 14

19 SPEAKERS Richard Phillips is chair of the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology. Dr. Phillips is senior minister of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. He speaks frequently at conferences on the Bible and Reformed Theology and is series co-editor of the Reformed Expository Commentary. Among his thirty books are The Masculine Mandate: God's Calling to Men and Jesus the Evangelist. Rick is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA and received a Doctor of Divinity from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Sharon, live in Greenville with their five children. Derek Thomas is editor of reformation21.org and minister of teaching and preaching at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. He also serves as professor of Systematic and Practical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary and teaches in both Atlanta, GA and Jackson, MS. Derek has served as editor of the Evangelical Presbyterian, a monthly denominational magazine. A graduate of RTS in 1978, he gained a Ph.D. from the University of Wales, Lampeter. He has contributed to various commentaries and has written or edited 15 books, including How the Gospel Brings Us All the Way Home. He and his wife Rosemary have two grown children and two grandchildren. Carl Trueman is a speaker on the Mortification of Spin podcast, professor of Church History at Westminster Theological Seminary, and pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. He has an M.A. in Classics from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in Church History from the University of Aberdeen. He is editor of the IFES journal, Themelios. He has authored a number of books, including The Claims of Truth: John Owen s Trinitarian Theology. He lives in Oreland, PA, with his wife, Catriona, and his two sons, John and Peter. 15
