We got to be talking about JOY and I relayed an experience I had some couple of years ago whereby I was asked what delights me. It was a great shock to my system that I went blank, and was unable to recall anything on the spur of the moment by which I was delighted! What is it, that deep down, delights me? What is it that deep down, delights you? What is it,that brings you JOY? And so, I have been working on intentionally noting the little things, be they incidental like playing with a child, encouraging a young mum, drinking a cuppa out of fine bone china, snuggling up under a rug on the couch with a book, seeing people grow in their faith, enjoying a friend s company... or other apparently incidental or intentional interactions with people who replenish you and encourage you. One evening recently, I recall, my family were all home for dinner and I was standing at the stove making cheese sauce and an overwhelming feeling came over me. I smiled to myself and shed a tear. I am sure this was the joy of the Lord. Do you notice these things? Joy is amongst God s gifts to his people. There are various reasons for not feeling joyful, and at these times, we can lean on the indwelling of God s Holy Spirit to help us through. Despite hardship, Psalm 16 declares to us that In your presence, (God) is fullness of joy, the richness of security comes from God. Enjoying God is something we are created for. It is an integral part of our total relationship with God. So my prayer for you is that you may simply delight and know the full measure of joy that God can bring to our life. Capt. Railton & Anne Toni's Young Adults and Children s Update This month at Kidzone we welcomed Julian our new volunteer leader! We are very grateful for his help and it is very nice to have a male role model around! We learned about how God calls and helps us to be extraordinary, and have practiced being humble, kind and generous! We also have marvelled at God s creation and have done lots of creating ourselves. We do have a lot of fun at Kidzone! On Sunday mornings we have been learning a lot about the Bible, how we can use it and what it is all about! We have also enjoyed making things for our mums and celebrating Mother s Day! While semester one is drawing to a close we have been praying for our young adults as they get their assignments and placements done, and prepare for exams. Our young adults programs have taken a recess due to such busy times! Please continue to pray for our young adults as they sit their exams and continue to pray for our programs as they get back up and running in June. Toni and the SYA and Children s Ministry Team Activities and Groups Tuesday: Events & Development Team, 10am 1pm. We welcome Leanne to reception on Tuesdays. 3 7pm: Young Adults Life Caleb & Toni s. In recess until members return from OS. 2 nd & 4 th Fridays in the month: 9.30am 11.30am: MOPS (Mothers of Pre & Primary Schoolers) & MOPPETS. Friday 8th June is our next date. Friday: 4.00pm 5.30pm weekly during term, Kidzone, for Primary School children. 1 st & 3 rd Fridays in the month: 9.30am 11.00am: Life Group/Bible Study. Our next life group is Friday 1st June. News and Events Sunday 3rd June: 10.29am! OMG! All aged church, followed by lunch ($5 ea/$12.50 per family)topic: Trusting in Troubled Times'. Saturday 9th June: Girls' Brekky Club, Pages Café, (inside Koorong) Vicki Street, Blackburn Sunday 10th June: Sunday 10.30AM, followed by morning tea. Sunday 17th June: 10.29am! OMG! All aged church, followed by lunch ($5 ea/$12.50 per family) Sunday 24th June: Sunday 10.30AM, followed by morning tea. Sunday 24th June: Salvo Young Adults: SAVE THE DATE The Red Shield Appeal is over for another year and we thank all who helped organize, collect, count and support our little centre in any way. The total for our Centre alone is just on $12,000. Well done all! We thank Kirk Hall, who turns up on the intersection every year, for his 15 years of collecting. This is his last year as he moves to Alice Springs to live. And we couldn t have got it all together without Lokesh, our Bank Manager and his family team in the counting house. Thanks to Margaret for the muffins too. (PS: ask Lt Harriet how she pulled up after hours on the intersection. She may still be hobbling!) 3/6

4 RETREAT for women: What a great day we had on Saturday 12 th May, our annual spiritual retreat day for women. Lynne Burgess is author of All In Night, and All In2Night. She facilitated the day, speaking from her own experience to women of all ages, stages and statuses, about living confidently and with purpose. We enjoyed the delicious hospitality of Salvos Catering and there was much interest in this entrepreneurial venture raising funds and work experience for asylum seekers. Our confidence and purpose messages were reinforced through the practical vision boards and coaster tiles we created. Once again, a delight filled day. 4/6
