2 Churchwide Promotion Ideas GOTM Allocations My Golden Dollars Making a Difference Speakers List Sermon Outline Teaching guides for preschoolers, children, students, and adults One Annual Church Missions Offering GOTM Artwork/Graphic Resources - bulletin ads, logo, theme graphic, etc. These items are included in the material mailed to churches in their standing order of week of prayer materials or in a sample packet to churches without a standing order: Poster, GOTM Envelope, Prayer Guide, Speakers List, and GOTM DVD. HELPS FOR THE PASTOR, WMU DIRECTOR, CHURCHWIDE MISSIONS COORDINATOR, OR MISSIONS SUPPORT LEADER: Begin with prayer about how your church can be involved in the Season of Prayer for State Missions and the. Read through and review all materials. Use the sermon outline for a Sunday morning worship service..invite a guest speaker, a state missionary, or someone who is involved with one of the ministries supported by the, to share during a worship service or to speak during the allotted time for the sermon..enlist age-level leaders to teach the mission studies to preschoolers, children, students, and adults. The studies can be coordinated to be done all the same time on a Sunday or Wednesday evening or each age-level group can have their study during their regular meeting times when it is convenient for them. Share ways your church members are involved in ministries supported by the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions. Some ways to do that are:.conduct a churchwide Missions Fair on a Sunday evening during September, enlisting those members to prepare a display table about the ministry and be available at their table to answer questions..ask each volunteer to prepare a display or poster about their ministries and ask three or four of these volunteers to briefly explain about their ministry (1 or 2 minutes each)..for each Sunday of the month, have one of these volunteers speak about the ministry in which they are involved. Preview the 2016 GOTM promotion videos. Note those segments that feature ministries in your area or ministries in which some of your members are or have been
3 involved. Show segments during worship services, prayer meeting, or age-level study times. Mail a letter, prayer guide, and Golden Offering envelope to each family in the congregation. Place prayer guides in Sunday morning bulletins/worship folders on one Sunday during September. Encourage people to take the guide home and follow the instructions for praying for Tennessee missions each day of the week..place Golden Offering envelopes in the pew racks or include one in each bulletin/ worship folder along with the prayer guide..display posters in prominent places throughout the church. Fill in your church s Golden Offering goal..ask that the pastor or the person making the announcements in Sunday services to mention the several times during the month and give updates on the amount received..using information from the prayer guides, set up eight prayer stations where people can conduct their own prayer walk by visiting and praying at each station. This activity could be done before or after worship services, on Wednesday evenings, or at any other time the church is open. This could also be adapted to be a churchwide activity during a missions fair or on the evening of all age-level studies. PRAY: Prayer is an important part of the Season of Prayer for Tennessee Missions! Pray, using our Scripture passage from Romans 10:14-15 as a guide: How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? Pray for the 3.65 million Tennesseans who are lost and have no relationship with Jesus Christ. And how can they believe in the one of who they have not heard? Pray for those in Tennessee who live in remote areas or have come from other countries and have never heard about Jesus and His saving power. And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Ask God to show you opportunities to share the gospel with those who need to hear. Also, pray for God s guidance in getting personally involved in one of the ministries or in reaching out and connecting in your local community. And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? Pray for God to send more laborers to share the gospel. Pray that we will reach our statewide Golden Offering goal of $1,850,000 and be able to increase the number of workers. Pray about what you should give to the. As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Using the prayer
4 guides, pray for the ministries of Tennessee Missions and for the missionaries and volunteers who work with them. GIVE: The goes to help fund several things across our state, such as: Revitalizing Churches, Reaching the Lost, Serving People Groups, Meeting Human Needs, Equipping Future Generations, and Promotion of the Season of Prayer and Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions. One hundred percent of the Golden Offering that your church gives goes to these ministries. The goal for the Golden Offering is $1,850,000. As you can see, this is a very important part of Tennessee missions. Suggestions for Setting Your Church Goal: If the church reached its goal last year, then increase the goal by 10%. If this is the first time the church has set a goal, then start with a goal of $10 or $20 x the number of people who regularly attend the Sunday morning worship services. Dream big and remember that a goal is an amount to reach, not a burden to bear. Focal Point for the Goal: On a table in a prominent location in your church, place a map of Tennessee. Create a large arm and hand out of butcher paper long enough to reach across the map, connecting West Tennessee to East Tennessee (not so large that it completely covers the map). Place the arm on the map or on the table directly above the map and tape it in place. Either tape or draw a GOTM offering envelope on the hand to represent giving. Divide the arm and hand into sections and let each section represent a certain amount of your offering goal, then color in each section as you receive the offering. Prepare a poster with pictures to show several ministries across our state that are supported by the Golden Offering. Display this poster on the table behind the map. (This visual aid could be adapted to be displayed on a bulletin board.) This display will be a way for your church members to be reminded of the Golden Offering and the ministries it supports, and it will also be a way for them to keep track of the amount of offering as it s given. GO: Missions Involvement Ideas Keep the theme It s Personal! Reach. Connect. Give. in mind. Look around to discover ministries in which your church or groups from your church could become involved.
5 It s Personal! Commit to being personally involved in ministry instead of waiting for someone else to do it. Reach. Reach across the street or next door. Reach into your community, city, and across our state to find those who are lost and need to hear the Gospel. Connect. Connect with directors/leaders of ministries in your area to ask how your church can help. Personally connect with those you come in contact with each day as you go about your daily life. Give. Give of your time, talents, abilities, and money to help in the work of some of the ministries you discover. Donate items to help with these ministries. REMEMBER: TENNESSEE IS OUR MISSION FIELD! Written by Sharon Tyler, Tennessee WMU Central Region Promotion Director and member at Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville.
