A Word from Prophet Chris It's summertime in Chicago! And I want to be the first to welcome you to Mission Summer! Our God-given mission is to wrap our arms around Chicago and love the city to life in Christ. And while we live out our mission everyday and in every part of our congregational life, there is no time like the Summer to get out there and get our arms around our families, community, and city. That s why I want us to give ourselves to the mission this summer. And guess what, we re going to have a ton of fun while we do it! We re concentrating our efforts this summer on one goal...reaching our city with the love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons and gatherings will be missional. We re asking Grow Groups to lean into mission this summer. We re planning a dynamic Go Sunday in August. We even have a model for you to live your everyday life missionally. We are believing God for 400 Meaningful Interactions in this 9-Week Campaign. A meaningful interaction will be measured as any interaction in which the love and/or Gospel of Jesus is shared and a connection is made that allows for follow-up and relationship development. I look forward to seeing you on the Mission Field! Grace and Peace, Prophet Chris Butler Senior Leader Chicago Embassy Church 1

"GO" Sunday 2nd Annual Chicago Teacher Fair As a service of appreciation to all of the adults who educate and guide the city's children throughout the school year, Chicago Embassy Church will host our 2nd Annual Teacher Resource Fair. The fair is a place where teachers and all adults who work in the schools and with our children can come to receive resources, pampering and a well deserved (and rarely received) thank you. Chicago Embassy Church sets aside one Sunday of each quarter to forego our usual Gathering and mobilize the entire congregation toward an effort of fellowship, outreach, or service. The Teacher Resource Fair on is one such "Go Sunday". 9am - 1 Hour Worship Chicago Embassy Church 10am - Setup & Prep 11am - Fair Opens 3
Grow Groups are smaller Gatherings organized around a particular theme, outreach, or interest. These groups are designed to help you GROW. The groups help in the following ways: Grow people in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His people, the church. Grow believers in their knowledge of the scripture. Grow the size and scope of our movement to wrap our arms around Chicago and love the city to live in Christ. Grow Groups take many shapes and sizes. They can meet practically anywhere. The following Groups will meet during Quarter 3 Bible Buffs Lead Facilitator: Prophetess Sandra Walker Bibles Buffs is an outreach oriented group that meets every Thursday evening at the McDonalds on 65th and Stony Island. BBs conduct a Bible Study in the open where people can and will overhear the conversation and want to interact. Through this interaction, many hear the Gospel and receive the grace of God. For Creatives Only Lead Facilitator: Sister Deanna Reed-Foster Are you a creative person who wants to know how to use your gift to prosper in life and glorify God? Then, this Grow Group is for you! We re creative a space for the artists, singers, dancers, musicians, actors, and other creatives to come together, explore the scriptures, create, and bless the world. Reach Your Goal Lead Facilitator: Prophetess Denise Brown It takes faith and accountability to breed success. It doesn t matter what goal you re trying to reach, you ll need support. This group is for anyone who is going to try to reach a specific, short-term goal. You ll get secrets from the scripture, personal support, and the healthy community to help make it happen. The "Y" Factor Lead Facilitator: Prophet Chris Butler There is a difference between men and woman; the Y chromosome. This curriculum-based group will walk through an original curriculum by Prophet Chris Butler that looks at what the Bible says about the creation and fall of man (male and female) and how that impacts as men and living with men. The Fitness Group Lead Facilitator: TBD This Group is coming together to make sure that we keep our bodies, minds, and spirits healthy. With fitness focused bible encouragement being shared on a regular basis and meet-ups to run, workout, train, and learn. This is the help you need to get closer the Lord, get healthy, and build relationships. Living Single Lead Facilitator: Sister Andrea Parker Understand, celebrate, and thrive in your singleness. This is the community for single adults who want to live a godly, single life. You ll get instruction from the scripture, supportive community, and lots of opportunities to have fun and be a blessing to others. These groups may be adjusted and others groups may form. 6 Missional Living As the greatest model of missional living, Jesus shares three key strategies in the Gospels using The Son of Man came statements. Each of these strategies represents something that can easily be incorporated into daily life. Together, they provide a roadmap for Missional Living. 1 Seek Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who are lost. Each week, we re asking every partner to seek out a person who is either unsaved, or not walking closely with the Lord. This can be a call, a text, a card in mail, a visit...it s about reaching out and letting them know that you see them and more importantly that God sees them. 2 Serve Mark 10:45 - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. It s simple; serve someone. Take out the trash for them, mow their lawn, or carry their groceries. Every act of service (no matter how small) creates an opportunity to Christ to break through with His love, His encouragement, and His salvation. 3 Sup Matthew 11:19 - The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds. For the most part, we all eat everyday. When we commit to sharing at least one meal each week with someone else (preferably someone who needs an encounter with Jesus), Christ will begin to show up as He did when He walked the earth as a man. Your mission is to do each of these three activities at least one time every week of the Mission Summer Campaign (preferably with someone who is not walking with the Lord). Chicago Embassy Church 5
Missional Sharing & Support SHARING IS PART OF FELLOWSHIP. The testimonies that we create together will serve as mutual encouragement as we allow God to work through us this summer. As God shows up in the midst of your Missional Living, share the testimony. We also want to help you follow-up with people you meet and reach out to this summer. So, we re asking that you also share basic contact information for the connections you make. WE WILL NEVER SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH ANYONE ELSE. WAYS TO SHARE: Send an with a few sentences about the connection you made and how God showed up. Include the Name, phone, and of the person you reached. Send the to MissionSummer@ChicagoEmbassy.church. MOBILE APP Open the Mobile App. Select Connect and then Mission Summer. This will take you to the Digital Connect Card where you can share the follow-up information for the connection you made and a few sentences about what God did in the connection. MOBILE APP We ve created a private Facebook Group called Chicago Embassy Church - Mission Summer. This Group is only open CEC partners who are actively working in the Mission Summer Campaign. This is the perfect place to share stories, ask for prayer, and build community around the campaign. PLEASE DO NOT SHARE CONTACT INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE. If the Group Moderators see contact information, we will delete the post. IN-PERSON There will be special Mission Summer connect cards available at the Gathering throughout the summer. You can ask a member of the Host/Hostess Team for a card and complete the information in person. Cards will be collected at offering time during the Gathering. Q Playbook 6
What is the Gospel? 1 God is holy. This is where it starts. Understanding that God is the creator of all things and that everything that has been made is made to bring glory to God. 2 We are hopeless. The very first humans God created disobeyed God. Sin was introduced to the human bloodline. Every person is born guilty of all the wrong we have done and hopelessly prone to disobey the law of God. This inability to submit to God separates us from God. 3 Christ died and rose again to save that which is lost. The punishment for sin is death. Jesus died as a substitute for all who would believe in Him. But, dying wasn t enough. Jesus rose after three days in the tomb and created a new race of men...reborn from the dead as righteous children of God. 4 Salvation is a free gift given to all who put their faith in Christ as savior. Yes, salvation is a miracle. When we believe in Jesus Christ as savior, He saves us. His death is imputed to us and a new life in Him is born on the inside of us. No one can believe in Christ by their own power, faith in Christ is a gift from God. It is less a decision to believe and more a recognition of the fact that you DO believe. Remember that the Gospel is not about what we avoid, it is about what we obtain. The good news is not that we get to escape hell (even though we do escape hell). The good news is that we get to enjoy the everlasting and ever-increasing joy of the never-boring, ever-satisfying Christ. Chicago Embassy Church 7
Tips for sharing your faith. 1 PRAY Spend time praying that the Holy Spirit will lead you on mission. Jesus instructs his disciples to wait for the sending of the Spirit (Acts 1:4-5) before they go out on mission. The same is true for us today. The reality is that no fruit will come from our missional efforts if they aren t saturated with prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 2 DON T GO IT ALONE Talk to others about how you plan to share the Gospel. Work in pairs and teams to reach people and places. God uses His church to reflect the gospel. This can be done as communities work together to intentionally display and declare the good news. 3 LISTEN Mission should be done with the posture of humility and compassion. A tangible way of doing this is actively listening to what people are saying. Knowing a person s story will allow for a more faithful contextualization of the gospel. 4 JUST TELL THE STORY So what should we tell people about God? How should we do it? A good place to start is with the presentation of the overarching story of the Bible. By doing this we ll be able to proclaim that Jesus is King, that He is working to right every wrong, and that He is restoring every broken part of this earth! Now that is good news! This is much better news than the individualized gospel of Jesus hiding in our hearts. 5 PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOURSELF DAILY The reality is that most of the anxieties that come from evangelism stem from Christians not believing the gospel themselves or not really knowing what the Gospel is for themselves. We constantly need to be reminded of, and be transformed by the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus. As we are sent into the world with the message of life, we must deeply know, delight in, contemplate, and give thanks for the gospel. Remember, it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). 6 EXPECT GOD TO WORK Do you believe that God is doing something through us? Do you believe that we are His agents here on earth? Do you believe that He is going to use us to transform lives? Let s be people who anticipate the powerful work of the Holy Spirit! Let s be people who believe that God can and will redeem our family, friends, and neighbors! Q Playbook 8
