Instruments used in a praise team include piano, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals and auxiliary percussion. Youth Praise Team: Thursdays 4:15 5:30 pm Instructor: Zivanai Masango Percussion Percussion is a fantastic way to learn music and rhythm. We have worldclass percussion instructors with a love for teaching kids music. We offer a Beginning and Advanced class. Kids will learn to play instruments such as the snare drum, cymbal, bass drum, marimba, xylophone and many more. 5 Music & Art Classes Beginning Band Wednesdays 6:15-7:00 pm Instructor: Clarissa Bond Vocal Brass The Salvation Army has a long tradition of brass bands. We strongly encourage you to come and try out a brass instrument. We provide the instruments for free and only require the students to practice. Brass instruction is done in a band setting and is a great way to learn music! Praise Hymn Dance Ministry Tuesdays 4:30-5:15 pm Instructor: Rutendo Masango Singing Company Wednesdays 5:30-6:15 pm Instructor: Sophie Davey Requirement: Grades 1st and up & attendance at Sunday performances Piano Individual Piano Lessons Private lessons TBD Instructor: Jennifer Martin Limited space available Requirements: own or have access to a piano for practice, must commit to daily practice Guitar Guitar Lessons Private lessons TBD Instructor: Zivanai Masango Limited space 8 available Requirements: commit to daily practice Program Registration requirements: Parental Permission and Activity Waiver Only $25 per family per year! (Payment plan available) Student Requirements: Speak and understand English Comply with all rules and safety procedures Attend class regularly and be on time (If a music student, accumulates 3 unexcused absences, or is excessively late they will be dropped from class) Practice regularly Complete homework assignments Be respectful Music Instruction Requirements: Practice and progress expectations will be communicated clearly each week to both the student and parents The teacher will communicate directly with the parents when a student shows no progress A 3 week grace period will exist for students who do not show measureable progress or who have unexcused absences Notice of an absence must be given to the teacher before the start time of the class; otherwise it will be marked as an unexcused absence It will be up to the discretion of the Music Program Coordinator to drop a student if they are frequently absent Piano students will need to purchase piano books for their lessons 5

6 Youth Programs BOOST Best Out Of School Time! This program is for students who need some extra educational support. Students will be signed up to come Monday-Thursday for help with their homework, reading, as well as focused support in areas recommended by their classroom teacher. Space is limited. Requirements: Application, Grades K - 8th Monday: 1:30-5:00 pm, Tuesday - Thursday: 2:30-5:00 pm Discipleship for Kids & Teens Sunday School Kids Bible Study & Activities Sundays: 9:30 am Requirement: All ages! Troops The Salvation Army has Scouting programs for both girls and boys that we call troops. The goal of our troop programs is to help kids develop: 1. Positive social and communication habits 2. Decision making and life skills 3.
