No child deserves to feel forgotten and alone. When you support Angel Tree, you help prisoners children know they re not forgotten, you help share the Gospel with lonely families, and you serve as an example of Christ s love to the parents behind bars. How can you help? 1. Pray for the ministry. 2. Angel tree ministry will be accepting unwrapped toys until December 18, Donations can be dropped off at the church any time the church is open. 3 Pastor s Corner: The Christmas Miracle of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love Sunday, November 27, begins the Advent toward our celebration of Christmas. Never under estimate the effect of the Holy Spirit during this season. It is not by chance that the world looks for something to hope for; dreams about peace on Earth; attends joyful gatherings; and, shares expressions of love. The World is simply a better place during Advent and Christmas. Say what? I know, I know. You can t see past the consumerism that ruins Christmas while you yourself become a giant-sized consumer yourself. I know you can t see past the War on Christmas, while you approach each cashier begging for a fight. I know you can t enjoy Christmas anymore because a close relative will not be there this year. I know you can t stand the music, the crowds, the Hallmark movies, the weather, the relatives, the office parties, and on, and on, and on, and on. Do you still love me? While all of your forebodings are true, they still have no effect on the greatness of this Advent and Christmas Season. The Truth of the Incarnation of Christ is still True. The special move of the Holy Spirit during this season is still a reality. The hope, peace, joy, and love that people share and desire is still present all around you. Remember this, accepting truth has never been forced on any of God s creatures. You can be as pessimistic as you want. You can be as angry as your want. You can be as stingy as you want. You can be as lonely as you want. You can be as sad as you want. God will not force you to be anything else. You do not have to enjoy the Advent and Christmas season, but that doesn t mean the rest of the world has to join you either. So, give into the move of the Holy Spirit this year and enjoy Advent and Christmas. Buy some gifts with the cash you can afford to spend. Attend some parties (alcohol free of course). Spend time with family and friends. Attend church services wherever you are this Christmas. Celebrate the Incarnation of Christ and you will not mind the inconveniences of Christmas music or people in your life. So, this year hope a little, make peace, joyfully celebrate Christ, and finally, would you just give Love a chance? Merry Christmas, Pastor Shepard 3

4 Join us for Community Prayer Night Monday night, December 19th at 7 P.M. Let s pray for our community together! The Senior Adult Ministry will meet on Tuesday, December 13 th at 12 noon. We will be receiving a special Christmas offering for the Weimert family on Sunday, December 11 th! Come party with us! We will have our 2 nd Annual Ugly Sweater Party with a Christmas Cookie Exchange on Saturday, December 17 th at 5pm. This is a potluck party so bring your favorite Christmas-y dish to share! We will play games and award prizes. The cookie exchange is optional if you would like to participate simply bake one kind of cookie and bring enough to share! Join us on Christmas Eve for a Candlelight Communion Service at 7 pm And Celebrate with us on Christmas morning at 10:07 AM. We will have a brief family service to celebrate our Savior s birth. 4
