In this addition I ve included the name of those who will be recognized at the Mass for their milestone anniversaries. It was held on the Feast Day of Saint Lawrence Deacon/Martyr. Deacons with milestone ordination anniversaries were recognized. The Diocese of Palm Beach thanks all deacons for their dedication to the Church and our faith family. 3 Catholic Charities Receives National Accreditation Congratulations to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach for once again achieving national accreditation as a social service organization through the New York-based Council of Accreditation (COA)! Organizations pursue accreditation to demonstrate implementation of best practice standards in the field of human services. The national accreditation signifies that the diocese s Catholic Charities serves its clients with the highest professional standards and competence. It took Catholic Charities eight months to complete the reaccreditation process. During the review COA looked at a variety factors and standards ranging from client safety to financial accountability, and determined Catholic Charities showed continuous commitment and compliance. Retreat for Catechetical Leaders The diocesan Office of Catechesis, Leadership, Youth and Young Adult Ministry Formation will be holding their Annual Spiritual Retreat on August 2 for all Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders. It will be held at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center in North Palm Beach. Dr. Paul Ashton will direct the retreat and the topic will be Jesus, The Good Shepherd. The retreat starts with morning Mass at 7:30 a.m. in the chapel and the day will conclude at 3 p.m. Attendees should register with Marie at mdriver@diocesepb.org Training for Teachers The diocesan Special Needs Ministry will offer a Training Session on August 5 for Teachers of special needs children who attend Parish/Catholic School Religious Education Programs. All parents are welcome, Please contact Kathryn Sullivan at ksullivan@diocesepb.org if you will be in attendance. The Special Needs Ministry is a ministry of the diocesan Office of Catechesis, Leadership, Youth and Young Adult Ministry Formation. Meeting for Parents of Special Needs Children The diocesan Special Needs Ministry will offer a Meeting for Parents of special needs children on August 7, at 7 p.m. at Kaffeehaus at St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach. All parents are welcome to attend. Please contact Kathryn Sullivan at ksullivan@diocesepb.org if you will be in attendance. Meeting for New Hires The diocesan Office of Catechesis, Leadership, Youth and Young Adult Ministry Formation will be holding their Opening Year Administrative Meeting and an Orientation Meeting for New Hires at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center in North Palm Beach. Both meetings will take place on August 16. This Administrative Meeting is for all current Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders and will start at 10:00 a.m. and conclude with luncheon. The Orientation for New Hires will start with luncheon and continue until 3 p.m. Scoops & Scriptures Event The diocesan Office of Catechesis, Leadership, Youth and Young Adult Ministry Formation will be holding a Scoops & Scriptures event on August 24. 6 GET UP AND GLOW! Save the Date for 5k Glow Run Mark your calendars for Catholic Charities Counseling Program s newest fundraiser. All proceeds from this 5k GLOW RUN will benefit the Counseling Program in Palm Beach and Martin counties. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. The 5K will begin and end at Mirasol Park in Palm Beach Gardens. This is a family fun event and all runners/walkers are welcome to attend! Respite Services Coming to Caregivers in St. Lucie County Beginning in Fall 2017, Catholic Charities will be offering Respite Care to Caregivers of the sick, elderly and homebound in St. Lucie County. Respite Care involves short-term or temporary care of a few hours a week. For more information on this new program, please contact Catholic Charities Associate Director Rob Siedlecki at Catholic Charities Receives National Accreditation Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach, Inc. has achieved national accreditation through the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA). Catholic Charities provides services to more than 20,500 unduplicated clients each year through 13 programs and ministries. It took Catholic Charities 8 months to complete the reaccreditation process. Organizations pursue accreditation to demonstrate the implementation of best practice standards in the field of human services.
