Jimmy Bassham, who served as Aldersgate s Senior Pastor from , is retiring after forty-seven years of ministry and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee of Hartselle First UMC is asking our help! If you remember Jimmy and his ministry at Aldersgate, they would like for you to send a note, card or letter letting him know how he helped you in your walk with Christ. THIS IS A SURPRISE, so don t tell! But send your cards, letters and notes by June 18 th to: Reverend Jimmy Bassham 2495 Mockingbird Lane NW Hartselle, Alabama May 7th is Bread Sunday Please bring loaves of bread for the Salvation Army. Drivers and servers are needed for the canteen truck. The first Sunday of each month, Aldersgate volunteers meet at the church at 5:00 PM and deliver meals to the homeless. It is a very rewarding way to spend two hours. If you can help please contact David Ezell. Your donations of bread are always appreciated. 5th Sunday Offering As our tradition at Aldersgate, this week's mission offering will be for UMCOR the United Methodist disaster relief organization. UMCOR responds to natural disasters and humanitarian crisis situations both in the United States and abroad. Donations may be made by designating UMCOR in the memo line of your check or offering envelope. Thank You With the end of the school year comes the end of this year's Backpack Meals for Morris School. Aldersgate has provided weekend meals for 120 children each month. Thank you for the donations of food and money and for helping pack the meals. A very special Thank You to Al Frazier for delivering the meals to Morris School each week. The Backpack Meals mission will resume in August.
6 April Mission of the Month: Reaching Indians Ministries International (RIMI) RIMI s mission is to reach the unreached people groups in India, South Asia, and around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, especially the poor and marginalized including Dalits, rural women, and slum children. Established in 1993, RIMI s key program areas are: (1) Evangelism and Church Planting, (2) Leadership Development, and (3) Compassion Ministries. These programs are primarily delivered through RIMI s India partner ministry, Mission India, a non-profit organization based in Nagpur, India. Mission India operates Mission India Theological Seminary (MITS) and oversees a network of over 1,000 indigenous missionaries, 28 Bible schools, and 14 Mercy homes serving over 500 children. We are involved in improving health awareness through various medical training seminars and a 100 bed hospital in Nagpur. We are also establishing village English medium schools, providing employment opportunities through economic empowerment, and providing vocational training for poor and marginalized people. This year about 500 students will be trained to become tomorrow s influential leaders for transforming South Asia and beyond. Gifts to the Mission of the Month in April will help support RIMI s God-sized dream to: * Equip 100,000 Christ-like Leaders * Establish 20,000 Disciple-making House Churches * Care for 10,000 Children * Transform 100,000 Communities Dennis Clements, our Director of Music currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board for RIMI and has known the Founder, Dr Saji Lukos since Learn more about
