No. 138 Call to Confession Prayer of Confession (unison) Holy God, our ruler and deliverer;; you have loved us and put faith in us, and we have disappointed you. We have forgotten your good works on our behalf and failed to trust your promises. Our world shows little evidence of the justice and righteousness you love;; our governments are corrupt and our economics brutal. We do not honor you with our lives. O Lord, be gracious, and show mercy to us. Lead us and sustain us by your presence, that we may know you and find favor in your sight. Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen. Helvey Sanctuary Choir *Doxology No. 592 *Prayer of Dedication Affirmation of Faith - We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept our selves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the church. The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture, engages us through the Word proclaimed, claims us in the waters of baptism, feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation, and calls women and men to all ministries of the church. In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in church and culture, to hear the voices of people long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God s new heaven and new earth, praying, Come, Lord Jesus! Amen. *Hymn Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing No. 538

8 Psalm 96 Praise to God Who Comes in Judgment 1 O sing to the Lord a new song;; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;; tell of his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. 4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;; he is to be revered above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. 6 Honor and majesty are before him;; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9 Worship the Lord in holy splendor;; tremble before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the nations, The Lord is king! The world is firmly established;; it shall never be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity. 11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;; let the sea roar, and all that fills it;; 12 let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy 13 before the Lord;; for he is coming, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth Old First Presbyterian Church 125 Main Street, Huntington, NY Phone: Fax: Podcast:
