2 Each and every time you sit down to read God s Word, make sure you go to Him and ask Him to read His words to you. Ask Him to explain what He is saying to you. Ask Him to grant you knowledge. Ask Him to open your eyes to behold wonderful things from His Word. And then believe what you hear! The priests and the Levites wanted to know who John was if he wasn t the Christ so they made a couple of suggestions. What were they? What did John answer to each suggestion? John had not yet told the priests and the Levites who he was and they needed to take an answer back to the Jews who had sent them. Therefore, they urged John just to tell them exactly who he was.
