May 1 31 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) 20 June 25 Mar 8 Nov Materials green background paper white paper yellow paper (optional) markers (black and colors) patterns on pages 6 and 7 tape or stapler scissors Directions 1. Cover the board with green paper. 2. Print the caption at the top of the board and the Bible verse at the bottom. 3. Enlarge the patterns. Color the hen and chick yellow or copy them on yellow paper. 4. Attach the hen to the center of the board with the chick close by. 5. Attach the hatchling to the left side of the board. 6. Cut out an egg for each child and hand them out. 7. Have the children write their birthdays on their eggs, then attach them to the bulletin board. Suggested Activities Discuss the Bible verse. Ask children what they think it means. Are God s plans for us in the new year good or bad? God does not say we won t have trouble in the new year, but He promises we will prosper or do well. Tell or review the Bible story of Joseph. Point out how God watched over him in trouble and blessed him. God s plans for him included both good times and hard times, but God definitely prospered him. You will find the story in Genesis Ask children what they would like to do for the Lord in the coming year.
