3 Preface The study of the nature and character of God is considered by the authors of this workbook as one of utmost important and greatly needed in the church today. There is, perhaps, no greater subject the human mind could contemplate. Every lesson was written with these considerations in mind. Each individual lesson was written by one of the authors of this workbook, and then reviewed by the other. The author of the individual lessons is as follows: Don Hastings Lessons 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 13 and Marc Gibson Lessons 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12. We should see God s providential assistance for others and ourselves in all things for we know He loves us and desires what is in our best interest even though He is working behind the scenes. Being spiritually minded can help us avoid many dangers in this life because we will be alert to danger and avoid trouble. 3. How does the providence of God make us stronger as we encounter and experience the evil and suffering of this present world (consider 2 Cor. 12:7-10 and Jas. 5:10-11)? So Paul would not be filled with pride, he was given a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble (2 Cor. 12:7-10). Job s faith in God grew stronger by suffering through severe trials (Job 42:5; Jas. 5:10-11).
