2 Worship and Praise Service November 16, 2014 Welcome to worship at First Christian Church! Each week we offer two different worship services: 8:15 am service features traditional worship and 11:00 am service features modern worship. Greg Taylor will share the communion devotion and Ed Bacon from God s Shelter of Love will share during the offering time. Our Thanksgiving offering for 2014 will go to God s Shelter of Love. When communion is served, we invite all Christ Followers to participate, partaking of the bread as it is passed and retaining the cup until we can all partake together. Greg Taylor will continue our journey through The Story. We will be studying Chapter 11-1 Samuel 16-2 Samuel 7. Signs and Songs teen choir will share a special.

New Executive Director Ed Bacon will be with us today, November 16th to share about the impact God s Shelter of Love is making throughout Central Illinois. Please give generously this Thanksgiving season!

6 Proverbs 31 will be preparing & cooking foods for the freezer on Tuesday, November 18th at 6 pm in the downstairs kitchen. Please join us as we fix meals for many different needs in our community. Men & women of all ages are welcome! This outreach ministry is for all, church & community! Want to try something different? Join ladies from our church as they travel to the Christian Village, Lincoln, IL, to help fold laundry, clean off tables after breakfast or lunch, give out water or just visit with the residents. Leave at 8:30 am on November 20th & return around 2:30-3 pm. It is open to anyone. You will be blessed! DIAPER DRIVE FOR GRAB N GO - Dec 13th We need all sizes of diapers and also wipes for our Grab n Go, which is Sat, Dec 13th. Please place them in the crib in the foyer during the month of November. If you would prefer to give a monetary donation, there will be envelopes in the crib. Many families benefited from your generosity last year! FOOD PANTRY UPDATE Let us give thanks! We are so blessed to have caring people in our church and community and beyond. This past month the food pantry has received: Boxes from Miller Container. 40 sacks of groceries (plus a monetary gift) from Wagon Wheel Pumpkin Patch. 6 boxes of food from Clinton Jr. High dance donations. About 20 (50-lb) bags of potatoes brought over from Mason City by Jim Rich (Carl & Norma s son). Our own church children bringing donations for Thanksgiving boxes. Families/individuals remembering the food pantry in their giving of food and money. Fresh eggs brought in periodically by Debbie Judd. GOD IS GOOD!!!! And YES, deer hunters the food pantry will gratefully accept donations of deer meat again this year! Thank you all for your concern for others and generosity in helping to fulfill the needs. 7 We have copies of The Story plus books for children available. If you would like to purchase any of these books, please stop by the church office & we will be glad to help you. The children s books, priced at only $8.00, make great Christmas gifts. The Story, for adults & teens, is still only $ Junior High Mission Trip The junior high mission trip will be going to Tulsa, Oklahoma, June Right now the plan is to leave early on June 22nd and return late on June 27th. See Cody for more information. YOUNG AT HEART - DECEMBER 3RD Silent Auction for Angel Tree No gift exchange, will do a donation to Angel Tree Meal will be provided! Grab n Go is coming! The diaper drive has started, volunteers are signing up, people are wondering what this year will bring. There is still a place where you can serve. Please fill out the volunteer form included with this bulletin and we will get you plugged in with this great ministry. Many people have been blessed by this community outreach. Praying for our missions: Darryl & Carol Krause - Here are some specific needs from the Krause s news letter: Please pray for the new & older growing churches that they may prepare to have an evangelist to help them win more souls for Jesus & grow into strong churches. Please pray for Darryl as he recovers from a very bad cold & respiratory infection. Please pray for Carol as she suffers from swelling fee & is seeking treatment. Please pray for our financial support as it has fallen this last quarter but God continues to provide what we need and we are thankful to Him and to all our supporters like you folk. Please pray that God will continue to help us reap a harvest of souls in this time when the harvest is great but the laborers are few. Help FCC to be thankful for faithful missionaries across the world! Praying for our church: - Thank the Lord for Tim Hoyt & his group of volunteers that make sure we have communion, not only for our church service but also for shut-ins, the hospital and nursing home. Praise Him for others who give of their time to serve the Lord s supper to individuals who cannot participate in our weekly worship service.
