Isaiah 41:17-18 Lynch, KY Newsletter 2012 Meridzo Ministries Overview Meridzo Center, Inc. has experienced many changes already this year with more on the horizon. God has relocated two of our staff couples: Jamie and Rachael Reynolds have resigned from Calvary Campus and taken a position with the Local Association; Rick and Kristi Hunter have resigned from Solomon s Porch Retreat Center Directors and have taken a Church in South Carolina. They represent over 13 years of combined service with Meridzo Center, Inc.!!! They did an amazing job in fulfilling their ministry and we trust our Lord will continue to expand their ministry and they will be better ministers because of the time spent in Southeast KY!! The Good News is that the Lord has sent Paul and Mary Jo Radosevich and their nine at-home children to serve as Directors of Calvary Campus!! They come to us from First Baptist Church Decatur, AL. They have been getting adjusted and have already seen marvelous things from God. We have added Jennifer Creech as Ministry Assistant doing bookings for Solomon s Porch and other duties. We are adding Pete and Stephanie Broersma and their four children as the new Project Development Coordinator. They will be coming on staff within the next few weeks. Pete will be working with material handling, job assignment and project completion. He brings an extensive history of carpentry and management skills that will surely add to the effectiveness of the ministry. The Lord Jesus showed a particular interest in those less fortunate and spent much time with them and ministering to them. The volunteers serving with Meridzo offer Hope through Jesus Christ by sharing and loving the people of Appalachia. They give their time, talent and resources for the extension of His Kingdom. All made possible by the faithful labor of these choice servants of our Lord who have decided to be on mission with God. More good news...this month we are involved with the legal exercise of transferring a facility called Maytown Center at Langley KY into the family of ministries of Meridzo Center, Inc. It is a former High School in Floyd County near Prestonsburg, KY. We are excited about being a part of the future of this beautiful area in Southeast KY. We are presently interviewing a possible staff couple to oversee the work there. This will require more mission teams and perhaps your group would like to try something new if you have been ministering with us for some time. We will keep you posted through the website: ON A PERSONAL NOTE: The Lord began early this year to speak to me about completion. Philippians 1:6 states being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; I estimated the total cost to complete all the projects we have been working on for years. The grand total was $250,000.00!!! I nearly fell out of my chair! I said, Lord I have never attempted anything like this before. This is much too big for me!! Then the Lord took me to Numbers 11 where Moses had the dubious task of providing meat for the Israelites. Moses said if this is what I must do just kill me now! Then the Lord instructed him to gather 70 men around him and He would take the Spirit that was on Moses and put on them. Now I m watching and waiting for the Lord to raise up the seventy men!! If seventy men gave $3,000-$5000 the completion would be finalized. I have been sharing this with some mentors of mine to make sure that this is God and not me. One man has already sent a check for $9,000 to be used as a matching grant!! I haven t even told many people yet!! A brochure is being printed and I will soon set up meetings to come and explain this Stewardship Campaign that we have entitled: FOR- WARD IN FAITH: OPERATION COMPLETION!! Pray with us concerning this as the Lord leads you to pray. Should you want me to come to where you are just give me a call and we will set a date. After over 13 years of ministry, our Lord continues to expand the horizon. As you read the ministry sections of this newsletter, I m sure you will see that you are involved in something much bigger than all of us. Who are we..just servants following our Lord. 2 Page 2 Meridzo Center, Inc. Shekinah Village It has been an exciting year here at Shekinah Village. The Lord continues to develop the Village with great anticipation. The Village has seen the four small cabins completed as well as the opening of the Village Shoppes. The Village Shoppes include: Scents N Such Candles, Transforming Imaging Screen Printing, and the Village Cantina featuring Sioux City Sarsaparilla! We are also building our bunkhouse which will be used for housing our youth for camps as well as retreats. It is very exciting to see this being built and will be in its final stages of construction soon. God has used the facility in a mighty way this year. We have had several schools here for field days. That gives us an incredible avenue to share Jesus when the students are on our property. It has also been a year of firsts. We had our first youth camp in June. It was called Hooked for Life. The camp was geared toward fishing, teaching kids the basics while sharing Jesus through each step of fishing techniques. We had 24 students from12 years and up. There were 3 salvations that week and 2 more have accepted Jesus as there Savior since the camp. God is working on the hearts of our kids! The village also hosted its first 4 th of July Celebration featuring a 30 min firework show with over 325 people in attendance. It is awesome that we can come and celebrate our freedom in Christ! We continue to work with the local schools and are excited to see what God has for us through that as well Ryan and I have become the youth leaders at Dione Baptist. We are basically rebuilding the ministry. It started with a couple of students and we are now up to 15 in a month. Our students are hungry for a relationship with Jesus. We have called the ministry Aftershock based on Acts 4:31. It will be exciting to watch God incorporate Aftershock with Shekinah Village. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers! We have seen God change the lives of both children and adults through VBS, sports camps ( Basketball, Volleyball and Archery), ASL Signing Camp, worship services and hands on activities in the community. Meals were given to hospital employees, first responders, and firefighters. The Clothing Room was established and is ready for back-to-school needs. Two burned out families were ministered to. God has sent teams with gifts that have continued and completed renovations in progress on the campus inside buildings and out. The mini-farm is drawing visitors on the campus to take the time to stop and enjoy watching the animals. Three fully furnished suites are available for mission teams or retreats. So many times we have heard from community that they love seeing the "lights on at the campus." We baptized seven people who had received Christ in the pool at the Lynch Country Club -Pastor Joe Jenkins Community Christian Center This has been an exciting year for Community Christian Center. We have seen the addition of several new families to our congregation. We have hosted two animal clinics, one free dental clinic and one free dermatology clinic at the church for our community. Many people were blessed through these clinics, spiritually, physically and financially. This summer's Baptism, Barbeque and Pool Party was a tremendous success. Several local churches participated in this event. There was a worship service, pulled pork barbeque, a crawfish boil and a local band providing entertainment for everyone. Most importantly, we baptized seven people who had received Christ in the pool at Lynch Country Club. We started a new bible study for college age adults. We hope to see them deepen their understanding of the word of God and see them express this in their daily lives and community. Our congregation is looking forward to the things that God has in store for our future. Joe Jenkins Pastor Joe and Senta Jenkins Scents N Such Scents N Such Candle & Gift Shop, a division of Meridzo Center Development Corporation, opened at the Western Shoppes at Shekinah Village on February 9, We were very excited to reopen at this location and see how God can use this shop to further His ministry in our community. The shop carries hand poured soy candles made from soybeans harvested in the USA. We also have many other scented products including soy tarts, room sprays and several bath and body products that are manufactured on site. We have been able to employ two people and hope to employ more locals while sharing the Gospel of Christ, teaching job skills and development while providing a top quality product from the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky. We were blessed with many volunteers from across the country to help us put on four horse camps for our local kids and teenagers.

It is absolutely amazing to see how God brings His children together to accomplish a certain goal even if it is as simple as a horse camp.

Two of the camps are Lil Buckaroo Boot Camps for children 12 and younger and two camps are Wrangler Camps for teenagers 12 and older.

And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no man may boast.

5 Lynch, KY Page 5 The Stables at Creekside Glen Upon arrival of the summer our hearts were leaping in excitement for the upcoming opportunities God had for us through the use of sharing His creation, the horse, with others. Now that the summer has drawn to an end we are left in awe of what God has done and how mighty He is. We were blessed with many volunteers from across the country to help us put on four horse camps for our local kids and teenagers. We were also blessed with two summer interns to help with the day to day chores around the Stables; Rachel McBroom from Jackson TN and Jennie Baldwin from Brentwood, TN. It is absolutely amazing to see how God brings His children together to accomplish a certain goal even if it is as simple as a horse camp. Our horse camps are something we look forward to each year and by God s Grace has grown bigger than we ever could have imagined. We have now had to expand into four horse camps. Two of the camps are Lil Buckaroo Boot Camps for children 12 and younger and two camps are Wrangler Camps for teenagers 12 and older. Our theme throughout these camps was that God s Grace Changes Everything and what an important lesson that is to learn. For by Grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no man may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 Each of the Lil Buckaroo Boot Camps brought 75 to 80 local children that we were able to invest in. During these camps we were able to teach the children horsemanship lessons as well as share with them the most important TRUTH of all and that was the love of Jesus Christ. We also were able to host a family night on the last night of camp that was full of excitement, Food, and Fun. The family night gave us the opportunity to show parents/guardians what the children had learned and to also teach them about the Grace that Changes Everything. Each of the Wrangler Camps brought teenagers out to learn barrel racing, roping, bull riding, and goat tying. You want to talk about some Rodeo fun, now this was it. It was really cool to see how these kids went from knowing hardly anything about riding a horse one day to the next day running barrel patterns on horseback. These teenagers were not only taught how to do rodeo events but were also taught the most important lesson of all and that was that God cares about them and loves them and desires a relationship with them. We were also able to teach their parents/guardians the same message the last night of camp at our Wrangler Rodeo. In the midst of the summer events and Horse Camps we were discipling 12 young teenagers through our Stable Internship. These teenagers would meet with us twice a week to do Bible Study and then Stables chores along with riding horses. They also along with their families helped us greatly with our Lil Buckaroo Boot Camps and any other horse related events we had. We also had the privilege of seeing two of these interns come to know the saving Grace of God through the work of Jesus Christ in their lives. As you can tell it was a very busy summer but such an awesome experience that we would not trade the world for. Being right in the middle of where God wants you doing what He wants you to do is the ultimate satisfaction. Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement throughout the summer.
