Dear Trinitarians, Every move of God requires a response of faith. Faith pushes us forward, faith empowers us to persevere, and faith enables us to see the promises of God fulfilled. That is the story of Trinity Christian Centre a journey of faith as we followed God s leading to various premises from During our nomadic season, the congregation faithfully carried, set up, and took down equipment week in and week out. It was a tedious process but despite all these inconveniences, Trinitarians served with passion knowing that every sacrifice was not in vain. Since then, God has blessed us with three freehold properties that we can call home for the years and generations to come. It s time to move once more The BIG Move so that we can upgrade and upsize Trinity@Adam to be a storehouse for the future harvest. On August 20, 2016, we will come together to worship as one church in Trinity@Paya Lebar. Trinitarians, the cloud is moving. Let s choose to look and move forward together to the greater things that He will do in and through this church. 5

Let Trinity s journey of faith inspire you to move forward into God s plan for this church. 6

Year: 1970 Average attendance: 10 Premise: 2 Hillcrest Road Rev and Mrs Glenn D Stafford missionaries from the Assemblies of God, America desired to be a Pentecostal witness in District 11 of Singapore. To do that, they started prayer meetings in their home (1 Greenleaf View) in September There were 10 in attendance at the first prayer meeting, including five from their own family. Several months later, in April 1970, the Stafford rented 2 Hillcrest Road and launched our first Sunday Service the birth of Trinity Christian Centre. Within several months, Trinity s activities grew to include Sunday School, evangelistic services, and mid-week prayer meetings. By July 1971, Trinity s average attendance grew to 50. The year was Pastor Ferguson had just taken over leadership from Pastor Busby. On Sunday, November 10, Pastor Ferguson announced that a second offering would be taken that day to buy Trinity s first air conditioner. The price: $990. There were less than 70 people attending Trinity (at Hillcrest Road) that morning and 75 percent of us were students, mostly young teenagers whose weekly allowance was around $10/week. This second offering was a real stretch for us. How many really believe that we could collect $990? he asked, challenging our young faith. About 15 hands shot up. He asked again, How many believe that the amount would be over $1000? Now, there were only 10 hands in the air. After the offering bags passed, collected, and counted, Pastor Ferguson asked us one more time, How many believe that the amount collected is over $1000? Fewer hands went up. But our God is a great God, Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. That morning, we collected an additional $1,313 for the air conditioner. Praise the Lord! Though we came with little faith and gave what we could, we left with faith that could move mountains. We felt so blessed by His richness and glory, His faithfulness to take our little and turn it into much. Early member of Trinity Joined Trinity in 1970, Hillcrest Road 7

Year: 1974 Average attendance: 98 Premise: Hotel Equatorial Year: 1977 Average attendance: 260 Premise: Regional English Language Centre With Rev Naomi Dowdy s appointment as Senior Pastor in 1976, Trinity began an era of spiritual revival and extraordinary church growth. In 1977, to accommodate Trinity s growing attendance, services moved to the Regional English Language Centre (RELC) building. In July 1971, Rev and Mrs Raymond A Busby took over leadership of the church, grounding her in the Word of God. This season saw many young people coming to Trinity and giving their lives to Christ. In February 1974, Rev and Mrs Robert E Ferguson continued the work of leading Trinity. Their ministry saw rapid growth in church attendance to the point where a larger service location had to be considered. By the end of 1978, our attendance grew to 475 and Trinity had to hold a second Sunday Service! The Board had concerns of paying the bills for the use of Hotel Equatorial. But they took a step of faith and moved out from the back alley into Hotel Equatorial believing for growth. Not long after, buses were chartered for three bus routes to bring people to church. Trinity s attendance grew and the ballroom that seated 300 was packed with men and women hungry for God. 8

On our Pentecostal beginnings I (Willie) met a Trinitarian during my army days and he was a different kind of Christian on fire for Jesus and actively talking about the power of the Holy Spirit. I had never heard about the move of the Holy Spirit but I was attracted to his contagious faith. I came to Trinity when it was at Hillcrest Road. Through teachings and bible studies, I became infused with a new understanding of the Holy Spirit and eventually received a baptism of the Holy Spirit. My walk with God was never the same again. I grew in the Lord and in evangelism, visiting homes to share the Good News. On leaving a lasting legacy We were married in 1975 at Hotel Equatorial and have three children. All our children grew up in Trinity, attending Sunday School and youth ministry. These platforms left an indelible mark of faith in their lives. Today, they re all grown up, raising their own children in the ways of the Lord, and serving the Lord faithfully in various ministries. On moving from place to place The fellowship! It didn t matter where Trinity moved to because there we had such strong bonds with each other. We looked forward to meeting every weekend and weekday bible study groups. We would meet before and after services many times late into the nights too! On being a stakeholder There was a time the church needed to service a loan for 21 Adam Road. At that point in time, I (Willie) was out of a job but still had a deep desire to give. With no experience in sales, I took on a job that required me to sell exhibition spaces. Long story short, the Holy Spirit led me to various people that allowed me to close one deal after another, coming out as top in sales. The commission from this period enabled me to give to God s house! I had nothing except a desire to give to God. He took that seed of faith and multiplied it many times over. Willie and Lily Wee Joined Trinity in 1973, Hillcrest Road 9

Year: 1981 Average attendance: 1,200 Premise: Singapore American School I was looking for a church and told my elder brother about it. I wanted a place that had the presence of God and vibrant with life. After visiting a few churches, he came across Trinity. He was so excited because he had found the church that fit my description! Church attendance continued to grow by leaps and bounds with worship services conducted in various locations across Singapore. The nomadic life was exciting but became challenging as we got bigger in size. Thus the search for a home to call our own began. In 1981, we purchased our very own land at Adam Road (the Adam Road bungalow ). The congregation, which composed of many young adults, rose to give sacrificially. We came to 21 Adam Road when it was still a bungalow. The moment I stepped in, my tears flowed like an opened tap I just couldn t stop crying. I was touched by God s Spirit and experienced His tangible presence throughout the service. God has turned my life around. I will never go back to my old ways and will continue to serve Him all the days of my life! Linda Ong Joined Trinity in 1983, Adam Road bungalow We then moved our main Sunday Service to a larger premise at the Singapore American School (SAS) to accommodate the growing congregation, while Chinese and Youth services moved to the Adam Road bungalow. Trinity continued to grow and home cells were launched to develop strong relationships with one another on a smaller platform, as well as provide pastoral care. 10

Year: 1982 Average attendance: 1,500 Premise: NTUC Conference Hall I had only been a Christian for a year when I decided to serve in my first Trinity production as a member of the choir for the 1982 Singing Christmas Tree. In those days, Adam Road became a hub of activity every December weekend in preparation for the event. Besides choir and orchestra rehearsals, there were also drama rehearsals, counselor trainings, and briefings for the tracting and witnessing teams. By 1982, Trinity outgrew the Singapore American School and our services moved to the NTUC Conference Hall. That year, Trinitarians arose in evangelistic fervor. Crusades were held at the National Theatre (with a seating capacity of 3,500) and the first Singing Christmas Tree was held at Orchard Road (staged again in 1983, 1985, 1986, and 1987). Trinitarians also actively engaged in personal evangelism. As a result of Trinity s corporate and individual efforts, church attendance grew as many gave their hearts to the Lord. During the Singing Christmas Tree, Spiritual Parents, dressed as shepherds, mingled with the crowds and shared the Good News with spectators along Orchard Road. What struck me about the Singing Christmas Tree was God s faithfulness. Though it rained during the presentations, everyone came together believing God for open heavens. Many came to the Lord despite the downpour. I will never forget how God moved tangibly in our midst. It was absolutely glorious. Witnessing the salvation of men and women brought tremendous joy into my heart. Since then, I have been serving in most of Trinity s major productions so that I could be a part of showcasing this real and faithful God in creative ways. Chong Leong Hin Joined Trinity in 1981, SAS 11

Year: 1984 Average attendance: 2,000 Premise: World Trade Centre I was saved during the Sunday service before the (1986) Singing Christmas Tree. At the service, my sister gave me the Steps to Peace with God tract and told me to read it. By then, I was ready to give my life to God and went to the altar for prayer. Trinity had good preaching and solid follow-up classes! I attended six months of Foundations of Faith classes that really anchored my faith in God. In 1984, the NTUC Conference Hall became too small for Trinity and our services moved to the World Trade Centre (WTC). Lay leadership and Trinity School Bible and Ministry (TSBM) classes were introduced to provide Trinitarians with a strong foundation in their faith as well as to disciple them. In those days, you could see many many discipleship groups taking place at the lobby areas of WTC before and after service. It was a season of spiritual growth! I also attended the youth service where the awesome youth pastor modeled passion for God in worship, prayer, and the Word. The Youth Bible Class (YBC) was instrumental for me to grow in the Word. We had Bible lessons that were on par with TCA College classes, fueling my passion for the Bible. The YBC teachers openly shared their walk with God and through their example, I learned how to live a life worthy of my faith how to honor my parents, cope with exam stress, and boy-girl relationship issues. I am so blessed that I had good spiritual mentors from the start. Lina Tan Joined Trinity in 1986, WTC 12

Year: 1993 Average attendance: 2,151 Premise: Singapore Labour Foundation I recall how we were constantly on the move. In those days, there were no /sms reminders so if we missed the announcement in the bulletin (for a change in service venues), we would be lost sheep! Moving together, as the Lord provided different venues, was a journey of faith! For me, each move was akin to a family moving to a larger home to accommodate new family members. We (Trinitarians) did the same as one church, one big spiritual family. I went wherever Trinity went because this church was my spiritual home. Donald Yeo Joined Trinity in 1983, NTUC Conference Hall In 1990, Phase 1 of Adam Road was completed. While some of our services moved to Adam Road, the large and growing congregation required Trinity to continue holding multiple services in WTC. In 1993, Phase 2 of Adam Road began works for a larger auditorium and we moved into multiple services at four locations in WTC, Adam Road, Singapore Institute of Management, and Singapore Labour Foundation. 13

Year: 1995 Average attendance: 2,696 Premise: After living the nomadic life for 25 years, Trinity finally moved into Adam Road in A year later, God used the new auditorium in a powerful way. Heaven s Gates and Hell s Flames, a confrontational Gospel drama, was staged. Its one-week run was extended to four weeks as 17,000 men and women came from every part of Singapore to watch it, leading 4,700 of them to make decisions for Christ. Trinity@Adam continued to be a place of transformation, enabling individuals and families to encounter God. As Trinitarians grew in fervor and faith, God continued to open doors to build more storehouses for the harvest, enabling the church to purchase Trinity@Lavender and Trinity@Paya Lebar. I remember marveling at the new pieshaped section of our once-rectangular auditorium when 21 and 23 Adam Road merged. This meant greater capacity for a larger congregation, and, more importantly, a larger venue for more to be added to the Trinity family! Excitement filled Trinity@Adam on the first Saturday of every month, known as Power Weekend. These evangelistic dramas and mini-musicals were additional opportunities to share the Gospel. Long queues could be seen on the ground floor tailing to the Meeting Place, and sometimes to the main entrance along the road! The auditorium and the mezzanine were packed to the brim, but it didn t matter. Trinitarians willingly availed their seats and stood at the back so that more lives could be transformed. I also have fond memories of Trinity@Lavender where the East District anchored the Ministry Expressions there and though it was a smaller place, it was Trinity with a kampong feel. After service, Trinitarians gathered downstairs for a bite at the café, mingle and chat. Nobody rushed off! Trinity@Adam and Trinity@Lavender will always have a special place in my heart. Afterall, it was where I started serving and where I still serve with my husband and family. I m so excited to see how God will enlarge our capacity to serve and reach out through the new Trinity@Adam! Charlotte Yong Joined Trinity in 1984, Adam Road bungalow 14

Year: 2007 Average attendance: 5,341 Premise: Lebar In 2005, Trinity celebrated a new season of leadership as Rev Dominic Yeo was appointed as the new Senior Pastor and steered the church toward new frontiers and new levels of growth. In 2007, Phase 1 of Trinity@Paya Lebar was completed and we multiplied into two centers, Trinity@Paya Lebar and Trinity@Adam. In 2009, Phase 2 of Trinity@Paya Lebar was completed and the congregation moved into the new 3,000-seat Sanctuary. Today, Trinity s average weekly attendance has grown to 7,500 people. More than just a numerical increase, we have also grown to become a greater blesser, hosting many events, and impacting the larger Christian body in Singapore and the world. We are honored to be the host church for World Assemblies of God Congress in March After living overseas for several years, we were searching for a church where our children could learn and grow in the Lord. When we came to Trinity@Paya Lebar and brought our daughter, Dorothy, to DiscoveryLand, she gladly released us for the main service! She enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere there so much. Our teenage son, Dominic, also became active in the IGNYTE ministry. We are so delighted to see our children find their own place in Trinity and learning to take ownership of their walk with God. Trinity is truly a church for everyone. My sisterin-law is grateful that Nursery gave her the opportunity to attend service worry-free. Our parents are growing in the Chinese Ministry, happy for the opportunity to learn about God in their own language. When we had a helper from Indonesia, we introduced her to the Indonesian service where she accepted Jesus into her heart and eventually got water baptized! With every Trinitarian under one roof in The Big Move this year, we look forward to seeing a greater sense of unity in the church and a breakthrough experience of the Holy Spirit as we worship together.
