1 ORDER FOR THE WORSHIP OF GOD The Lord s Day, April 7,, 2019 To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst for righteousness; and to all who will come, this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. APPROACHING GOD IN WORSHIP Greeting: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Call to Worship: Joel 1:14; Deuteronomy 4:31 Pastor: People: Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God. For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that He swore to them. 2 APPROACHING GOD IN CONFESSION AND SERVICE Call to Confession: Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He Who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Prayer of Confession in Unison: Father, we are a weak people. You have given us the church as a means to strengthen us in Your ways. Yet we often don t take our responsibility to encourage one another seriously. Forgive us for this sin. Help us to be actively engaged in encouraging one another. May each one of us be strengthened in the faith. We ask it in the name of our Lord Jesus. 5 The Commission of Heartland Presbytery, PCA Speaker: James Bebo Elkin is licensed to preach by the Mississippi Valley Presbytery of the PCA. He is a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church, PCA Jackson, MS. Pastor Tim met Bebo when he was a visiting professor at Covenant Seminary (The Seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America) around Convener: Reverend James Baxter is Senior Pastor of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Olathe, KS. He grew up in Olathe Presbyterian Church, which his father Bob Baxter planted. Later Olathe Presbyterian changed her name to New Hope and Pastor Jim was called as Senior Pastor in Reverend Tim Elliott is Assistant Pastor of Adult Ministries at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Olathe, KS. Pastor Tim was in Pastor Tim and Jenny s wedding and has served congregations in Indiana, Ohio, New York, and California. Reverend Jon Dunning serves with Reformed University Fellowship and is Heartland Presbytery s pastor to the Kansas State Campus. He has served as Associate Pastor at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church (Shawnee, KS) in the past. Reverend Brian Hough is Pastor of Manhattan Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, KS. He served as Assistant Pastor of Youth Ministry at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, KS prior to planting Manhattan Presbyterian. Reverend David Upchurch is honorably retired. He served as a chaplain in the Army Reserve, served at Grace Presbyterian Church, EPC in Lawrence, KS as well as starting a church plant in Topeka, KS. Go Wild Cats! Reverend Tony Felich has served Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, KS for over 20 years. He is currently the Senior Pastor and started at the church as their Youth Pastor. Ruling Elder Travis Shanahan is an Elder at Manhattan Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, KS. Travis moved with his wife Amy and their children from Redeemer Presbyterian in Overland Park, KS to help plant Manhattan Presbyterian. Travis is an accomplished computer programmer who works in Bakersfield, CA.
