Coffee/Fellowship Hosts: Etta Barner Flowers: Alana Mapes Bethany Presbyterian Women MARCH-OUT-TO-LUNCH: Last Tuesday s February lunch was great with fourteen breaking out after five snowy days. Next week you may make reservations at Sign-Up Central for the Olive Garden. Here are all the details: When: Tuesday, March 11th at 11:30am. Where: The Olive Garden Beaverton in the Town Square by Fred Meyer. Cost: Order from the menu individual tickets Reservations: February 23rd March 2nd Sign-Up Central, call Molly or mollyscamp@comcast.net by March 7th. FOOD BANK: Three weeks ago the food from our baskets and cash collected since early December was taken to the Food Bank 93 pounds of food and $75. Thank you for helping your Washington County neighbors through these lean times. The March item will be canned meat (tuna, chicken, Spam etc.). The monthly food items are suggestions to give you some idea of what is needed; it is not intended to limit your donation to just those items. Please check the expiration dates on food that you donate. Food that is past the expiration date or very close to expiring will have to be thrown away. If you would rather donate cash, put it in an envelope marked Food Bank or make a check payable to the Oregon Food Bank and put it in the offering plate. Special Musical Treat Today Scott Johnston, our tenor saxophone soloist today, was introduced to us by Deirdre Layzell. Her sons, Peter and Eoin, take lessons from Scott through the M.U.S.E. (Musical Understanding through Sound Education) program. Scott has been a band teacher since the late 80 s and has been with the M.U.S.E. program since He is also an active performer and plays with a variety of bands including Professor Gail, The Mike Curtis Jazz Project, and Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts. Be sure to give him our warm Bethany welcome!

5 Progressive Dinner Is On For March 1 Plans for the Youth progressive dinner are progressing! Our goal is that the youth can get to know some of our wonderful church members better! Please contact Amanda Jones if you are willing to prepare a course for the meal and/or share a short story of faith with the youth group. March 1 is the date, so please mark your calendars and sign up at Sign Up Central to pitch in! Fellowship Hall Kitchen Remodel Completed The moment we have been waiting for many months has arrived! Come join us after church for the ribbon cutting and opening fellowship time UPSTAIRS in our new kitchen! We are asking our wonderful Bethany Trustees to cut the ribbon (after their hundreds of hours of work) and we will officially begin serving out of our Fellowship Hall kitchen. Come have a cup of coffee and join us. The Life and Ministry of the Messiah AN ADULT CLASS ON SUNDAY MORNINGS 9:00-9:40 CE Room 1 Video series led by Andy Lindahl Filmed on locations in Israel and throughout the Middle East, the Faith Lessons series is an adventure in biblical learning. You will discover why Jesus turned the world upside down with his compelling call to follow him. Teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan brings together history, culture, and geography as you walk with Jesus through the days of his ministry on this earth. These illuminating 'faith lessons' give deep insights that will transform your reading of the Gospels and inspire a deeper faith commitment. Save the Date for VBS The date for VBS 2014 has been set...july Mon-Fri, so mark your calendars and get ready to have a blast! Details will be forthcoming in future bulletins and the Summer Open Doors. Volunteers Needed During Spring Break Jody Jones and the Youth are taking a break from Glisan Street Transition House dinners for spring break in March. The Outreach Team would like for Bethany to continue this fine work while the youth enjoy spring break, and are offering this for everyone else. If you have not had the opportunity to participate in this mission project, you will find it very rewarding. We prepare the food in Bethany's kitchen, load it into vans and car trunks, and take it downtown to the center for serving. We serve dinner and then eat with the residents. You can cook, or serve, or both. Sherry Labavitch will chair this event, and will have sign-up sheets available in March. Try it! It's fun! Final Sunday to Claim Extra Items Moved From Fellowship Hall The Trustees have moved numerous items from the Fellowship Hall over to the CE Building storage closet. There are bulletin boards and lots of other stuff that need to be claimed or disposed of. Committees and individuals - please check this Sunday for anything that belongs to you and move it out as soon as possible. All unclaimed items will be properly disposed of. And to keep things spic and span in the remodeled Fellowship Hall, please do not put any items in the Fellowship Hall janitor s closet without prior permission from the Trustees.

6 Free Is A Very Good Price! The church is offering a free upright piano (located in the Activity Center) to anyone who would like it. Look for the one marked free. There are two pianos in the Activity Center and we want to keep one of them! If interested, please contact a Trustee and be prepared to make your own arrangements for removal. The Trustees would like you to know that the piano should be placed next to an indoor wall in a warm room for at least a month before having it tuned. March Book Club Book Selection The Bethany Book Club consensus seems to be that our March 2014 Bethany Book Club selection will be: Intervention by Robin Cook. Son of God Movie Opening This Friday, February 28th, the movie "Son of God" opens in our local theaters. From reading the reviews and watching trailers on-line, it appears to be a wonderful way to share the gospel message with people who may be hesitant to go to church and also to bring alive the wonder of our Lord for youth and teens. It may only be in theaters for one or two weeks, but personally, I would urge us all to preview it, invite a friend, and be prepared to share the hope that is within you! (1 Peter 3:15) This is the first movie in 50 years that shows the life of Jesus from birth to resurrection. It is rated PG-13 due to the violence of the crucifixion. Current Evergreen Theater Showtimes: Noon, 3:10pm, 6:30pm, 9:40pm. Starts Friday 2/28. Please check start times on the day you are attending-times may have changed! Preview showing at 10pm on Thursday, February 27th. Merica Fooks will be attending the preview if you wish to phone her to ask about the appropriateness of content for children.
