Our staff will be praying for traveling mercies for all who will be away. While you are out of town, you can access our website and stay in touch with our current messages. I d like to encourage you to join us in June for a series of messages on the stories that Jesus told. These "parables" spoke to the relentless love of God, and the meaning and purpose of life. Jesus spoke of good Samaritans, prodigal children, rich fools and unforgiving servants, lost sheep and sprouts that were choked out by weeds--and with each story he answered the questions we ask in life. Jesus' parables changed his hearers 2,000 years ago, and they still have the power to change our lives today. Join us as we explore these life-changing stories that lie at the heart of his proclamation of God s kingdom. In Christ, Rev. Larry J. Bergstrom
2 WHAT IS A SMALL GROUP MINISTRY? One of Hollywood Hills 3 focus areas that came from the Destiny Summit last year was Discipleship. A main component of Discipleship is the further development of our existing Small Groups and the creating and building of additional new Small Groups within the church. As we endeavor to grow our Small Group Ministry it is important for all of us to know exactly what a Small Group Ministry is. A Small Group Ministry is a congregational ministry supported by The United Methodist Church to provide an excellent way for every congregation to fulfill the mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Small Groups are the best way to accomplish the goals and priorities of the congregation. Offering a structure and process that makes spiritual formation and disciple making simple, effective, lasting and meaningful is our purpose. Small Group participants practice regularly the spiritual disciplines of prayer, scriptural study and acts of service to others. In the upcoming weeks and months, Hollywood Hills will continue the process of building our Small Group Ministry. Through effective communication, training and congregational support, our Small Group Ministry will flourish as we endeavor to live out all our missional targets. These include Passionate Worship, Intentional Discipleship, Extravagant Generosity, Salty Service and Radical Hospitality. Membership Vows What Membership is in the United Methodist Church Persons who join The United Methodist Church make sacred commitments to God and to the community and promise to be held accountable to their commitments. Through these vows we accept God s free gift of freedom and power to turn away from evil; to profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; to believe in the Christian faith as contained in the Bible; to live a Christian life; and to: faithfully participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. If you are a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer s disease or a related dementia, this group can help you. It is designed to provide emotional, educational, and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. This activity is open to the community and will be provided by the Alzheimer s Association. Group begins on Wednesday, June 26 th, nd & 4 th Wednesdays of the month 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Room 217 (Conference 2 nd floor) (Sign up on the blue sheet)
3 Kaebnick Korner The following letter is from Kelly Errico who is the daughter of Sherri and Rick Errico. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida and will graduate in December Dear Church Family, I cannot believe that senior year is finally here! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was packing my bags for Warren Willis and heading off to camp for a week. Time surely does fly. This year has been quite a change for me both personally and academically. In the fall semester I was still active at Central Florida Wesley Foundation, but as everyone grows older and finds their own niche and small groups in Orlando you start to find your own path. Central Florida Wesley had become my home away from home, my freshman small group (Freshley) were my friends in college and many of them will be my friends for life. Through CFL Wesley I was able to travel to both Ireland and the Bahamas on mission trips that forever changed my perspective of the world and my faith in what the Lord is doing in other countries. It is truly beautiful. This year I was really active in the Delta Zeta Sorority at UCF as President. My Greek family consists of our sororities Chaplain, so she plans prayer groups and offers volunteer work for anyone in the sorority who is interested. I still attend the church, Summit, which is a community church located about 20 minutes from UCF. I go to the 6 PM service on Sundays and it is such a wonderful experience. I am very comfortable there and I plan to volunteer with their staff this Summer since I have the time on weekends now to contribute. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make it home to HHUMC or Hollywood in general within the last year due to my busy schedule, but I was able to make it home for Easter service. I was very happy to finally see my mother again and my church family. Anne Masters squeezed me so hard when she saw me! It was very nice and welcoming. I was also able to make it back for the Candlelight service in December I love coming home for the holidays and being greeted so kindly, I know that many are not fortunate enough to come home to a church like that and that is a shame. I am extremely blessed. In the Spring of 2013 I was offered a promotion where I currently worked at as a leasing consultant, Emmer Development Corporation. They offered me a position as Assistant Property Manager for a two year minimum contract post-graduation. Considering that I was very unsure of what I was going to do post-graduation I am now confident in my direction and will continue on with the company until I find a new path. My parents are doing well. My mother, Sherri Errico still attends church and volunteers when she can as always. I am grateful to have such supportive parents who will guide me and care for me in whatever way they can even when they can t contribute to me in monetary ways. I do not stress though, God has a path for me and I give thanks every night for what I have been given each day. I will continue to volunteer with Summit and help out with the CFL Wesley as an Alumni. I am forever thankful for the support I have been given from HHUMC and I will continue to visit when I can and contribute to the Methodist Church as often as I can. Thank you for always being there for me, Kelly Errico
