PRAYER & PRAISE After the morning service, if you have prayer needs, please visit room 1 on the north side of the sanctuary. Rev. Lee Koning continues to be resting comfortably under hospice care. Ken Van Byssum, Jr., had some scans last Friday and has doctor s appointments this week to decide the next steps in his treatment for esophagus cancer. He continues to have some difficulty getting food down. Pray for increased strength for Ken, for good results from the tests, and for a good treatment plan. Keep Garry Wieringa in prayer as he has another round of chemo treatments this week. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Bill Finniak who lives in Saratoga Grove. ANNOUNCEMENTS A New Members Orientation Class will be offered next Sunday, September 28, after morning worship. This is an opportunity to learn more about Faith, to meet others who are newer to our church, and to talk about next steps for membership. Talk to Pastor Greg to attend. Children's Church would love to use your gift of piano playing if you are willing to share it! Please talk to Christy Hooker or Nelly Groenewold if you will play piano for us a couple of Sundays a quarter. Added bonus: get your heart filled while listening to some of our youngest members praise God! The Shoebox Committee is collecting coloring books, crayons, and markers for the pediatric ward (Ronald McDonald wing) at Loyola Hospital. Please place NEW items in the "Shoebox" bin in the Fellowship Hall from August 31 - September 21. Thank you for helping these children!

4 Our mom s ministry, Mom2Mom meets most 2 nd and 4 th Thursdays, from 9:00-11:00 AM. Excellent childcare provided. Mom2Mom provides a beautiful and nurturing environment where Titus 2 relationships are encouraged the older women mentoring the younger women. This year, we will be reading the book, Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe, by young mother, Sarah Mae, and her mentor, Sally Clarkson. Desperate is the story of one young mother s trials and one experienced mentor s priceless exhortations. Desperate is not a book about despair, nor is it a rule-laden mothering manual. It is a life offering filled with encouragement, help, and answers to some of your heart-wrenchingly honest questions. Please register at New moms can join at any time. Morning study meets from 9:00 11:00 AM at church and offers excellent childcare. Evening study meets from 7:30-9:00 PM at the house. All women welcome invite a friend! If you have never done a Beth Moore study, this is your opportunity you won t be disappointed! We ll be studying Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent, which explores Psalms Please register at so that books can be ordered and childcare planned for. Our theme for this year will be Promises Kept, and we ll be looking at various promises that God made and fulfilled over the course of the Bible. Bring your latest craft project to work on for an informal evening of working on your hobby or sign up in the narthex to make a set of 3 wooden pumpkins to display inside or outside (approximate cost $6.50). Come, bring your friends, exchange tips and tricks with other ladies and enjoy an evening of fellowship and crafts. 5 TODAY Children s Church, for kids 3 years old through Kindergarten, during the morning worship service. Sunday School begins at 10:45 AM in the sanctuary. Dismissal is at 11:45 AM to the Fellowship Hall. Catechism classes for grades 7-12 will meet at 11:00 AM today. 7 th & 8 th graders will meet with Brad Wieringa and Lambert Bronger at the house, 9 th graders will meet with Kelly Cornelisse in Room 1, 10 th graders will meet with Ken Folkerts and Ted Vander Naald in Room 2, 11 th graders will meet with Dave Voss in room 3 and 12 th graders will meet with Rev. Lanser in Room 15. Dismissal will be at 11:45. Catechism classes meet from 11:00-11:45 AM for grades PADS signup sheets are in the Fellowship Hall.
