3 *Call to Worship, Responsive Psalm 16, The Message The psalmist prays: Keep me safe, O God; I ve run for dear life to you. Be my Lord! Without you, nothing makes sense. And these persons who have chosen you what splendid friends they make! The psalmist witnesses to his friends: Don t just go shopping for a god. Gods are not for sale. I swear I ll never treat god-names like brandnames. The psalmist prays: My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I m your choice! You set me up with a house and yard. And then you made me your heir! The psalmist witnesses to her friends: The wise counsel God gives when I m awake is confirmed by my sleeping heart. Day and night I ll stick with God; I ve got a good thing going and I m not letting go. The psalmist prays: I m happy from the inside out; and from the outside in, I m firmly formed. You canceled my ticket to hell that s not my destination! The psalmist prays: Now you ve got my feet on the life-path, all radiant from the shining of your face. 4 *Prayer of Confession, Unison Book of Common Worship Heavenly Father, when we honestly look at who we are, and what we have done, and what we have, we scarcely can imagine that we re your heavy hitters in this community that we re your faith-drenched apostolic emissaries in and for this community that we re your key operatives in your mission to retake and bless the world. Today, again, we confess this lack of understanding as sin. Lord, forgive us our sins all of them and restore our view of ourselves to your view of ourselves (continue in a time of personal confession) *Assurance of Pardon Friends, hear the good news: in Christ we are forgiven. You are God s chosen and beloved. And the revolutionary movement of Jesus continues in this community with First Presbyterian Church, and with you. Thanks be to God! Amen! A beloved presbyterian pastor, theologian, and writer, Eugene Peterson entered the church triumphant on October 22, 2018 at the age of 85. 5

READY TO SHARE Our Stewardship / Funding Ministry Campaign 2018 for 2019 completes today. Ready to Share (1 Timothy 6:18) has been our theme. Besides two mailings rich in information and inspiration from the Finance Committee, we ve had speakers each Sunday. Today is Pledge Dedication Sunday. THE ADA ECUMENICAL COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE will be held next Sunday Nov. 18 th at 6pm at First United Methodist Church.
