Core Values Bridal Paradigm and Seven Longings of the Human Heart I. What is the Bridal Paradigm? The Bridal Paradigm is the discovery of the Biblical view of Jesus as the Lover searching for and rescuing His Bride. This revelation of love will dramatically impact your devotional life resulting in the believer encountering the heart of God in amazing new ways. Paradigm: A set of rules and regulations (written or unwritten) that does two things: Establish or define boundaries Tell you how to behave inside those boundaries in order to be successful 1. The way we perceive the world 2. The lenses that we are looking through 3. A shared set of assumptions 4. It explains the world and helps us to predict its behavior 5. To see with new eyes To understand what the Bridal Paradigm is we have to understand what it is not. A white dress Dynamic sexuality between Christ and His people God is the masculine before which all of us are feminine. - C.S. Lewis What the Bridal Paradigm is: The touch of the God upon the human heart, empowered by the Holy Spirit A holy romance Being delighted by God s beauty Feeling the spiritual pleasures of the Word Feeling the Spirit resonating on the inside Understanding what it means to be loved by God Also called the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11) Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

The Bridal Paradigm can be compared to the disciples encounter with Jesus: John declares that this is the one for whom he has been waiting. They begin to follow Him. He asks them, What do you seek? The answered him, Teacher, where are you staying? - John 1:35-39 This is echoed in the voice of the Shulamite, Tell me, O you whom I love, where do you feed your flock? from Song of Solomon 1:7. It s a call to pursue him with extravagance and passion. They followed him that day and their lives were never the same. The Bridal Paradigm can be compared to the way a godly husband relates to his wife. The way a man pursues a woman is only a glimpse of this passion. It is a picture in the flesh of what Jesus intends to have with us. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. - Ephesians 5:25-27 The personality of an earthly bridegroom and the diversity of his physical, emotional and spiritual qualities conveyed here which are the reasons why two people fall in love. The diverse qualities of Jesus as seen in the 8 pictures of the Bridegroom in the Song of Solomon: The Inviting Shepherd The Passionate Suitor The Challenging Leader The Glorious Bridegroom The Heavenly Husband The Suffering Servant The Majestic God The Consuming Fire Creekside Green. 4 This view of God and of ourselves will equip our hearts in holy affection to endure the greatest trouble in all of human history, and will prepare us to stand in pure love and bright righteousness at Jesus return. It is God-inspired to empower the Church to overcome the coldest, most lawless, fearful, demonic and sexually perverted generation in history. A life characterized by affection-based obedience is a life in which a person knows he or she is so loved by God, and so loves God in return, that obedience is the only reasonable response to anything God wishes. As we view ourselves and position our hearts in the spiritual identity of voluntary lovers, rather than timid or manipulated workers, something powerful begins to be awakened. This is truly who we are. And this is the Bridal Paradigm. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

II. Why the BRIDAL Paradigm? Jesus is coming for a Bride The Lord is not coming for a victorious army, a functioning body, or a flock that has united He is coming for a Bride that has made herself ready His wife has made herself ready (prepared) to walk in mature voluntary love and holiness. God has zeal in this hour to train and purify the Church on the earth as a Bride that is fully ready. This is glorious and terrifying that God would be zealous in His commitment to see that we are ready. The Bride will prepare a place for the coming of the Lord to dwell individually, corporately, and geographically, as she invites Jesus to come near us, to us and for us (Psalm 132:1-5). How he (David) swore to the Lord: I will not give sleep to my eyes until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." - Psalm 132:1-5 It is the last paradigm Jesus emphasized at His First Coming and it will be the final one the Holy Spirit emphasizes to the Church worldwide before Jesus Second Coming. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let the one who hears say, Come. And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. - Revelation 22:17 This passage records a cry that will arise from both the Holy Spirit and the Bride of Christ. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart This age will end with a worshipping and praying Church in a bridal identity. This passage is the most significant, comprehensive and clearest End-Time prophecy. It reveals to us what the Spirit is saying and doing. The Church will be in unity with the Spirit, as she will be anointed with power, engaged in intercession, established in her bridal identity and effective in the harvest Creekside Green. 6 He s coming back in response to the Spirit-led cry of the Church in her primary identity as the Bride. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain King who arranged a marriage for His Son. - Matthew 22:2 Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. - Revelation 19:7-8 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. - Revelation 21:2 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. - Revelation 21:9 Marriage of the Lamb God's eternal purpose for His creation is to provide a family for Himself and an equally yoked bride for His Son as His eternal companion (Jesus inheritance). The LORD's portion (reward) is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance. - Deuteronomy 32:9 That the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of revelation that you may know (experience) what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints... - Ephesians 1:17-18 Intercessors with a Bridal Paradigm Experience Enjoyable Prayer You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will name. You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called Hephzibah for the Lord delights in you. For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. I Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent. - Isaiah 62:2-6 Understanding our new name refers to understanding our new spiritual identity as being delighted in by God. The very heart of Davidic revelation is the way God delights in us even in our weakness. This reality of being dark in our hearts, but lovely to God is also seen in the Song of Solomon. We must grasp the truth that He really loves and enjoys us even when we are immature in love! I am dark but lovely - Song of Solomon 1:5-6 The strength to the end-time prayer movement is rooted in having a new paradigm or a new picture of God. It is a new view of God and who we are in God. The night and day intercession of Isaiah 62:6 is fueled by the assurance of God s delight in Isaiah 62:1-5. Through this we can partner with Him in intercession not only for ourselves, but also for every situation for which He gives us the strength to pray. In this prophetic portrait called the book of Esther, He is inviting us to approach intercession through the doorway of romance, to dial up all His daring and passionate emotions, to tell Him all over again that we say Yes to his proposals, that we choose Him again even as at the first. He wants us to presume upon His grace and mercy, to enter the Holy of Holies with confident boldness, knowing that His scepter of righteousness is extended toward us at all times because the King is in love and we are His Bride! - Gary Weins, Bridal Intercession Out of His heart of love, He draws us to the place of prayer, that He might communicate His intentions. He is our great reward (Genesis 15:1) The word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision saying, Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your exceedingly great reward. The first Person of the Trinity is a tender Father and the second Person of the Trinity is a passionate Bridegroom. The subjects of the Father s beauty, the Bride of Christ, and the Song of Solomon are vital to the End Time prayer movement. We are intercessors, those who are standing in the gap, and watchmen, those reporting on what they see and hear. We are called to do this night and day, and we need the Bridal Paradigm to experience this type of enjoyable, sustainable prayer. Our spiritual identity is found first in being lovers of God before being workers for God. We are lovers before we are workers. Lovers will always outwork workers Creekside Green. 8 Mary of Bethany: We must understand the importance of doing the first things first so that the secondary things can be done with effectiveness and joy. Jesus was not telling Martha that her ministry was invalid. He was saying that there is a first thing without which the second things will burn us out. - Gary Weins, Bridal Intercession I believe we need a paradigm shift once again among God s people with regard to prayer. In the activity-addicted performance-oriented entity that is the Church, we have largely lost sight of the experiential intimacy with Jesus to which we have been called, and we need a restoration of that understanding. The new perspective makes room for believers to define their lives before God not on the basis of what they do for Him, but on the basis of the declaration of His ravished heart as the Heavenly Bridegroom. - Gary Weins, Bridal Intercession Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

III. Bridal Identity & the Seven Longings of the Heart Where did our longings come from? These longings are a roadmap to viewing the Lord as our Bridegroom and us as the eternal companion that He has chosen. In order to fulfill them we must see Jesus as our Bridegroom, and in order to see Him as Bridegroom, we must come to Him to satisfy our longings. Our longing, our love and desire for God are His gift to us. It takes God to love God. They are an expression of His desire and love for us. Each one is a means by which we can understand God more deeply. We have cravings built into our spirits as an integral part of our divine design. When a longing is created it will not stop until it is satisfied. (thirst) He created it in us and He is the only one who can completely fulfill it. (broken cisterns) 7 Longings of the Human Heart 1. The longing to be fascinated is satisfied by the revelation of the beauty of Bridegroom King (Psalm 27:4; Isaiah 4:2; 33:17; Psalm 145:5) We need to marvel and experience wonder and awe in order to function emotionally. The power to be deeply moved is something we all long for. One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD - Psalm 27:4 In that day the Branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious - Isaiah 4:2 Your eyes will see the King in His beauty - Isaiah 33: Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

Secular entertainment builds on this human need. It exploits and then destroys our heart if we partake of it in wrong ways. We have the opportunity to enjoy tokens of the deep things of God: His vast beauty, mystery, and splendor. The Holy Spirit is described as searching and discerning the very depths of the hidden beauty and splendor of God s Being. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, and the deep things of God - 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 We are invited on a Holy Spirit treasure hunt to search for the deep treasures of His splendor that is purposefully hidden in the heart of God. This is the most intensive treasure hunt imaginable in this age and continues forever in the age to come. To marvel in the mystery of God's beauty creates holy curiosity that knows no boredom. It takes God s activity in us to know God. There is nothing more exhilarating than when God reveals God to the human spirit. When God the Spirit reveals Jesus to our hearts something very powerful begins to take place in our emotions. To marvel and to be fascinated, awestruck and filled with endless wonder. Without a sense of awe, we live aimlessly and become spiritually bored thus becoming vulnerable to Satan s tactics. 2. The longing to possess and feel beautiful is satisfied by the revelation of the Divine beauty imparted to the redeemed (Isaiah 61:3; Psalm 90: 17; 149:4) God s beauty is transferable to us in the highest measure in created order. A beauty that is far above the great beauty of the angelic host. Our culture has an obsession with physical appearance and vanity as it seeks to answer this longing in a wrong way. to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. - Isaiah 61:3 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands. - Psalm 90:17 We pursue carnal beauty because we feel so unsettled and unhappy when we feel ugly Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

Glorious news: the beauty of God is not just something He possesses it is something He imparts through redemption to His bride. 3. The longing to be great and successful is satisfied by the revelation of the redeemed as enthroned with Jesus at His right hand. "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. - Revelation 3:21 We will fully experience the nobility and honor we long for. We are enthroned in the highest position of government in created order entrusting us with the most significant tasks in the eternal city (Revelation 3:21 SS 6:8). Jesus enthrones His bride. You can only repent of seeking greatness in a wrong way, because in Christ you are great. We ll reign together with Him (Revelation 3:21). We share His throne; ruling over the vast eternal empire called the Kingdom of God. He said, As I have overcome and sit on My Father's throne, so you will overcome and sit with Me on My throne. He's sitting on the Father's throne and we are sitting with Him on His throne. You will live among the royalty in the New Jerusalem. You are royalty. You married into royalty and wealthy. You will possess unimaginable wealth. You are among the aristocracy of eternity. The humility of the Bride is based on gratitude and over sickness. This lovesickness is a holy preoccupation that subdues all pride among heaven royal class. We long to be successful and noble. We cannot repent of the God-given longing to be great only of pursuing it in a wrong way. We were made for greatness and honor. Revelation 3:21- Jesus declares His people will one day be exalted to His very right hand, sitting with Him on His throne. In Jesus, we have married into the ruling class, extreme wealth, extreme power. When we grasp this truth, our lives will portray a divine inner strength and a fierce determination to be wholly His. 4. The longing for intimacy without shame is satisfied by the revelation of the tender affections of the heavenly Bridegroom Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

We partake of bridal affection that enables us to experience intimacy with the Godhead beyond all others in creation. The Bride experiences deep mutual sharing. Jesus with affection reveals holy secrets. For He Himself knows our frame - Psalm 103:14 For the choir director. A Psalm of David. O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all. - Psalm 139:1-4 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. - 1 Corinthians 13:12 but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. - 1 John 3:2 To experience bridal affection from Jesus. These affections tenderize our hearts so that we feel some of what He feels (Ephesians 3:17-19) The main prayer of her life is to receive an enlarged capacity to experience passionate affection from Jesus. This is one of the most significant renewal prayers in our personal devotional life. We pray, Father let Your Son kiss me. Let Your Son put His hand upon my heart. Enlarge my capacity to experience affection from Jesus. Sometimes in a corporate worship time (regardless of what worship song is being sung) I pause and pray, Father let Him kiss me. Let Your Son enlarge my capacity to receive His love. To fully know Him intimately: trusted with unique secrets of transcendent beauty. Secrets that even the highest ranking in the angelic host do not know (Ephesians 3:10). To be fully known without shame: to have no fear of being left to experience the mysteries of life alone Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

Intimacy in our life experience He understands all our secrets. The parts of our life that are unknown, unnoticed and misunderstood by all others. Rejoice with those who rejoice weep with those who weep. - Romans 12:15 Intimacy in our pain and struggle. He knows our sin and shame. He has walked us through every sin in our life. He treats us with honor in this. He forgives us, feels our pain in failure, and protects us by not disclosing the vast majority of our sin. Then He believes in us. Intimacy in our victory and prosperity. He knows our true greatness and the full implications of our spiritual identity. He sees the heights of our nobility. He shares all our joys in victory in difficulty. Intimacy in our heart passions. He knows the depths of our longings, dreams and intentions to do good. God wants us to find the deepest satisfaction in experiencing intimacy with Him. We long to know and be known before the Lord. The reciprocal intimacy Jesus wants to entrust the secret things of His beauty and personality to us He also has knowledge of our secrets He understands them. He treats us with honor as we walk through every aspect of life. He knows the depths of our longings, dreams, and intentions to love Him. Even our failed intentions to love him are seen in His love. 5. The longing for the assurance of being enjoyed is satisfied by the revelation of the finished work of the cross and God s emotional capacities. She feels pursued, desired, sought after (approved and forgiven) and delighted in. "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. - Luke 15: Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them does not go after the one which is lost until he finds it? "And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. - Luke 15:4-5 "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not search carefully until she finds it saying, `Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' "Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." - Luke 15:8-10 Many believers are not yet able to experience the fundamental reality that God enjoys them. He wants to give us the ability to feel enjoyed and delighted in by Jesus in our weakness. This one truth will revolutionize your life. But the very powers of darkness are set on obscuring this truth in the heart of God's people. This one truth will set you on fire. This is the gasoline inside the engine, so to speak. This is the fuel that aids the growth process. Craving to be pursued delighted in and enjoyed first by God, then by our families and friends. It is so integral, that we feel emotionally crippled when we feel rejection and shame. Initially satisfied by the cross, but God wants to touch this area in a deeper way. Only experiencing a revelation of the affections of God will satisfy us. When we are assured through the revelation of the Spirit that we are deeply loved and enjoyed, something powerful is awakened within us. 6. The longing to be wholehearted and passionate is satisfied by the impartation of divine love to our hearts. We deeply long to be empowered to be abandoned and to know the joy of lovesickness. that the love with which You loved Me may be in them..." - John 17: Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit - Romans 5:5 We desire the power to give the deepest affection of our heart back to God (Matthew 22:37). She longs for the grace (supernatural ability) to enlarge our capacity to give our deepest affections to God. The cry for the kisses is a mutual kiss. She wants the power to give God her whole heart. It takes God to love God. It takes God s power for us to love God. It is exhilarating when God, by His power, gives us the capacity to love Him back. It is His pleasure and responsibility to impart this Divine love to us. It is a supernatural ability to give the deep things of her heart back to God, to know the joy of lovesickness and to experience the exhilaration of wholehearted love. When she prays let me know the kisses of your mouth, she is asking for help to give her whole heart to God. By nature we detest being bored, passive, disloyal and compromising. We can not be happy until we have passionately given ourselves back to Him. Love is not satisfied until it is fully given back in a reciprocal way. Think of the person you love most in this life. You will never be satisfied until you have the capacity to love them in a healthy way. We long to avoid spiritual boredom, disloyalty, and compromise that leave us broken and discontent. We do not function properly until we have passionately given ourselves to something. If we don t have something to die for, then we don t have anything to live for. If you don t give it to God, you become vulnerable to the lust of the flesh that consumes passive hearts. 7. The longing to make a deep and lasting impact is satisfied by the anointing for service that results in eternal rewards. We delight to share things that cause others to be exhilarated. We enjoy making significant contribution and relevant sharing Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

" whoever gives one of these only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward." - Matthew 10:42 There is an eternal reward. But there is an immediate one, we feel good when we help others! For unclean spirits came out of many and many that were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city. - Acts 8:7-8 She longs for grace to walk in mature bridal partnership with Jesus and run with Him. He wants us to be yoked together with Him as a partner in service in the great mandate that the Father has given Him to disciple the nations. This redefines our life in a very powerful way. We are desperate for a life of meaning. We experience great joy in bringing pleasure to others. As we reject our tendency toward self-centered isolationism and walk out the second commandment at our Bridegroom s side, we will satisfy the longings of our hearts. How our longings are fulfilled in our Bridegroom We long, His presence comes, and when it lifts we are left more in love, with more longing for Him than we had before. He then answers the longings in part, giving us just enough satisfaction to sustain us in the pursuit, and leaving us just enough of an ache to keep us on the journey. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart The revelation of God s beauty fascinates our hearts. (Psalm 34:8 We have tasted and seen ) A combination of His qualities draws irresistibly our attention and interest. What is created in us is a longing for more, for our One Thing, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord all of our days. (Psalm 27:4) This preoccupation with His beauty, the essence of who He is, will fuel the end-time prayer movement Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

When we allow Him to fascinate our hearts we are drawn deeper into the intimacy that He longs to have with us, into the place of His chamber, His banquet hall (Song of Solomon 1:4) where we can hear his voice clearly, where we can see the expressions on His face and know the desires of His heart. Your longings, if you let them, will be what draw you into the Divine. Like separate streams, each of these seven longings is an escort into the eternal ocean of God s fiery affections. There is nothing more beautiful than when all your longings unite as one holy, raging river of yearning that drives you to God. - Mike Bickle, The Seven Longings of the Human Heart He is coming for a Bride that has made herself ready, that is expectant and watchful for His return, who has a heart that is tenderized to this reality and devoted to seeking Him out night and day. The world will become darker that even before, but His plan is to bring us through in victory. We need a history of intimacy with Him so that we will not be offended in that great and terrible day. We need to see with new eyes! Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

IV. Preparing the End-Time Church as a Bride God s Mission Statement: To Provide an Eternal Companion for Jesus I heard the voice of a great multitude saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." To her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. He said to me, Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'" - Revelation 19:6-9 Marriage of the Lamb God's eternal purpose for His creation is to provide a family for Himself and an equally yoked bride for His Son as His eternal companion (Jesus inheritance). The LORD's portion (reward) is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance. - Deuteronomy 32:9 That the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of revelation that you may know (experience) what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints... - Ephesians 1:17-18 His wife has made herself ready (prepared) to walk in mature voluntary love and holiness. God has zeal in this hour to train and purify the Church on the earth as a Bride that is fully ready. This is glorious and terrifying that God would be zealous in His commitment to see that we are ready. He granted her to be arrayed in fine linen these are distinctive wedding garments that are given individually to each believer according to their behavior (acts of obedience). All saints receive the robe of righteousness because of Jesus death on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21; Isaiah 61:10). For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. - 2 Corinthians 5:10 There is one glory of the sun another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. - 1 Corinthians 15: Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)

The Bride s garments will be comprised of different elements: glory, fabric, color, fragrance, etc. A Bride chooses her wedding garments with great care and love. This is different than the way that she chooses her other clothing. We will resist the temptation to sin (compromise), to quit (lose heart), to neglect diligence (laziness) because of love for Jesus as our Bridegroom God. The wedding garments that we will possess forever are being formed now by our obedience that is done in the spirit of love. We are making choices now that we will literally wear forever. What we do now has impact far beyond our natural lives. Our choices before the wedding are preparation for the life of the redeemed after the wedding. Lord God Omnipotent God is praised for releasing His power to prepare the Church (v. 6) Creekside Green. The Woodlands, TX (281)
