3 We are having a: A Message from Pastor Shue By the time you are reading this, Mary and I will have been in Santa Emilia, Nicaragua for several days. We cannot begin to tell each of you how very grateful we are to have each of you as members of our church family. The Christian love that we have felt in this congregation has been amazing. We have experienced truly remarkable brotherly love since we first walked through the doors of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) here in Fredonia, Ks. Almost 2 years ago this month. We believe that this church and this congregation are just beginning to scratch the surface of what kind of servants we should be for the Lord. I am excited to come to work each day in this church to see what God has planned for us. The challenges are great at times, but the rewards are even greater. It is our hope, God willing, to be here in this church for many years to come! When: February 14 th After Church Meat and table service will be provided. Bring your favorite covered dish and enjoy good food and fellowship. If At First You Don t Succeed, Persevere I told several people what the members of Santa Emilia, Nicaragua call your mission group. It translates into Planting Hope. I really like that name. It really captures what we are trying to do down there. We are trying to be God s feet and hands. We are just trying to glorify God s name in a place that is struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis. If something needs immediate attention while I am gone please get a hold of the office. Cheryl has Pastor Nixon s address. I will see about getting a burn phone when I get down there so I can call back in an emergency. I plan on being back here for the Church Board meeting on Feb. 10 at 8:00 p.m. If for some reason I can t make it I will call the office and let Cheryl know. I hope each of you have a blessed week. Your Servant in Christ, Pastor Claude Photo by Claude Shue The first lift that was obtained to change the light bulbs up front in the Sanctuary proved to be tall enough, but it was not able to be moved over far enough for the electrician to reach the bulbs to change them. Merlyn then made some calls and was given permission from USD 484 to borrow their portable elevator lift which was able to be maneuvered so the job could be done. The first lift was scary enough, but the second one was even scarier.

23 We are having a: A Message from Pastor Shue By the time you are reading this, Mary and I will have been in Santa Emilia, Nicaragua for several days.
