2 Pastor s Message The Four Seasons 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Romans 1:19-20 KJV) Ah, spring is in the air. If fact, by the time you read this, Spring will be official. I have always loved the four seasons. I must admit, that now that I m older, I m not such a big fan of winter, or whenever the cold winds blow, but still I m blessed to live to see each season come and go. For us here in NW Ohio, spring is, or has, pun intended, sprung! We are beginning to see the green of the grass and wheat. Soon the buds will form on the trees like little cocoons, to give birth to the leaves. Then, the corn and beans will pop above the warming earth as spring gives way to summer. Summer, everything is alive and growing. Deep greens are everywhere, the gentle soft summer winds which allows us a relative comfortable evening sitting outside without too many bugs while we sip our cold drinks. But oh, too soon, summer begins to give way to autumn. Autumn is one of my favorite times a year, for it is the time God brings out His paintbrush. The trees turn gold, red, yellow, then we see the brown of death slowly appearing, and then, it s time for the harvest. The harvest lasts only a little while before the full-blown death of winter arrives and buries under the blanket of snow all the plant life, till, yes, you guessed it, spring arrives again. Many people do not like the passing of the seasons, for it reminds them of their own demise. You see, we will all die. We were born, (Spring) we lived, (Summer) we begin to falter, ill health and old age, (Autumn), and then we pass from this life, buried under the ground, (winter) till the time of the resurrection. As one fellow Christian remarked, the time of that great getting up morning. God tells us that in nature, in the passing of the seasons, He has reveled His great love, and all who miss it, all who deny it, all who fail to see His Beloved Son, will be without excuse on that great getting up morning. Those who do will arise to joy and happiness, those who deny, who said that there is no God, to their everlasting shame and torment. Wait a minute pastor, did you say we were supposed to see Jesus, God s love in the passing of the seasons? Why yes, I did! A Greek word occurs that is not directly translated in the King James Version. Greek Strongs: 3739 Greek Strongs: 5037

3 Spring, Jesus is born as the Babe of Bethlehem! Summer, Jesus, the Messiah has come! He goes about healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, making the lame to walk, the dumb speak, the deaf to hear, and restoring life. Autumn, we see Jesus arrested, ridiculed, beaten, mocked, scourged, and nailed to a tree. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Winter, Jesus taken down from the cross. He is dead and laid to rest in a borrowed tomb. But Oh, Spring comes again, for He is alive! He is risen! He is risen Indeed, Alleluia! 1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. 9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. 10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. (Matthew 28:1-10 KJ) This year we have been especially fortunate, why, the day of the Resurrection is April 1 st. And we have been able to walk with Jesus though the seasons of His life. We celebrate the Resurrection, with the divine service. Confessing our sins in the beginning, we receive His Absolution. Hear His Word proclaimed, remember our Baptism, and feast upon His Body and Blood. All the while remembering, we are sinners, and deserve nothing but His wrath, but through His gracious gift of faith, restored, renewed, reclaimed, we are bold to proclaim, He is risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia! Amen! Now the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, amen. Oh, by the way, Did you notice how we began Lent on Valentines Day, and how Lent ends with the Day of Resurrection taken place on April Fools Day. On this day we, in faith remind the World, Satan, and our sinful nature, that God is not dead, lie you thought, and believe, He is alive! He is Risen! God s gracious Peace rest upon all of you. From Joyce and I, we wish you a very blessed and Happy Easter, the day of the Resurrection. 4 HOW THE INTERNET STARTED, ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE Please do not Google or check this with Snopes. They will lie to you. Trust me! In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a healthy young wife by the name of Dorothy. And Dot Com was a comely woman, large of breast, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com. And she said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, dear?" And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price. The sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)." Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. And the drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent. To prevent neighboring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew. It was known as Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures - Hebrew to the People (HTTP). And the young men did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land. Indeed he did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates' drum heads and drumsticks. And Dot did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others." And Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel, or ebay as it came to be known. He said, "We need a name that reflects what we are." And Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators." "YAHOO," said Abraham. And because it was Dot's idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com. Abraham's cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated Kid (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot's drums to locate things around the countryside. It soon became known as God's Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE). That is how it all began. And that's the truth. I would not make up this stuff.

On the lighter side of things... Internet according to the Bible Sometimes we feel as if technology has passed us by, with all it's techniques & terms. But I came across this explanation that made me feel much better... that it was all according to the Bible! I feel comfortable about it now, and can express an all knowing command that's irrefutable to kids & grand kids that have expressed that I just don't get it... amen!
