2 Around the Church SOUND BOOTH ASSISTANCE We anticipate requiring additional help in the sound booth within the next 3 or 4 months. If you are interested please contact Steve Gallup at or at slgallup@comcast.net. OFFICE ART Please stop by the office and view the beautiful quilts that Designing Women have created for the Prayer Quilt Ministry. Please sign up in Fellowship Hall to designate a month to showcase YOUR work: paintings, photography, sketching, needlework, anything that can be displayed on a wall is perfect. THANK YOU to Lorna Bluestein for her assistance with our bulletin boards. Lorna s artistic touch has enhanced the appeal and clarity of our communication and is appreciated. MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE! A community church wide choir is in the beginning stages of coming together. With only 8% of Evergreen residents attending church, this is one way we can reach out and spread the love and joy of Jesus through music. Please call Tanya Ashworth at (303) for more information. Adult Education and Fellowship Opportunities UNITED METHODIST WOMEN will gather on Saturday, March 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Ruthanne Huber and Penny Page are coordinating the gathering. A light brunch will be served, followed by a program, Women in the Bible. Please RSVP to Ruthanne ( ) or Penny ( ) if you plan to attend. WOMEN S WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY Wednesday Women's Bible Study will begin a new study March13 from 9:30-11:30 in the library of the church: NAMESAKE: When God Rewrites Your Story by Jessica LaGrone. As you meet Abraham & Sarah, Jacob, Naomi, Daniel, Peter and the unnamed woman, you will discover that God wants to be just as intimately involved in your story to ponder the purpose for which you were created. For more information and to order a book, contact Jeanne Ambrosier at rjambro@estreet.com. or No Bible Study on March 6th. MEN S BREAKFAST United Methodist Men will meet on April 6 for breakfast at 8 am in the Fellowship Hall. Colorado Court of Appeals Judge and fellow church member JoAnn Vogt will give a presentation on Law and Order: The Life of a Criminal Case. Rich Finney and Terry Vogt will be coordinating the breakfast. All church family and friends are welcome to attend the program session starting at 8:30 a.m. MARCH BOOK CLUB Our Evergreen neighbor, Dale Lovin, will lead the group on Thursday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Menchies in Bergen Village. Dale s recent book, The Mirror in the River, is a fictionalized documentary of political corruption, a kidnapping, and the brutal trafficking of children for prostitution. He plans to give an account of three specific FBI cases he worked on as a former Agent with the Bureau for twenty-five years. Please join us and call Marion Stauffer at for more information. ADULT SUNDAY MORNING CLASS ON THE BOOK OF GENESIS: A study of the Bible s Book of Genesis using a historical and literary approach. As a study guide, we use Prof. Amy-Jill Levine s video presentation. She teaches both Old and New Testament classes at Vanderbilt University. This study meets in Room 11 at 9:30 facilitated by Bob Gerteis. All are welcome to attend any or all sessions. GROWING FAMILIES A discussion group focused on raising mission-minded children. The group is facilitated by Sarah Sailor, and is doing a study on Toxic Charity by Robert D. Lupton. New members welcome at any time!
3 The Women's Bible Study invites you to join them on a field trip to downtown Denver Civic Center Tuesday, March 5 for a mission experience. They will connect with Jerry Herships Methodist minister of "After Hours Denver " who ministers to people in need of help. Socks will be taken to distribute to the needy as they come for a light lunch. We will be leaving the church at 10:15. For more information about this experience, contact Jeanne Ambrosier at rjambro@estreet.com or Please donate socks to this mission. A collection basket has been set up in Fellowship Hall. SHOWERS FOR THOSE IN NEED It has come to our attention that there is an unmet need for assistance to local people who have lost their homes or their ability to pay utility bills. We are partnering with EChO to provide shower vouchers redeemable at the local recreation centers. Charlene Hahn is coordinating a drive to fund this program, covering the $3 per person cost of a shower and a clean towel. You can donate by making a check payable to UMCE with the word showers in the memo line. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN BRUNCH Saturday, March 9 9:30 a.m. at the church All Women of the Church are Invited Ruthanne Huber and Penny Page are coordinating the gathering.
