READING AHEAD Acts 8:14-17 Scriptures for Sunday, January 13 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. Luke 3:15-17, : The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah. John answered them all, I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire : When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.

Jan. 27 9:15 am. coffee with the pastor; informal gathering in the parlor before worship FYI Scammers purporting to be collection agents for utility companies have been calling random ederly residents throughout the metrowest Boston suburbs, threatening immediate shut-off of services unless payment are made in full. They often have residents account numbers, some payment history and a legitimate sounding 800 number with extensions to further confuse residents, but will claim they cannot accept any other form of payment than through a pre-paid credit card or money pack. If you recieve one of these phone calls, DO NOT PAY! Massachusetts Attorney General s Office is aware of these scams and are investigating. Those who are cold deserve a warm, godly smile. Those who are hungry deserve food prepared with divine love and care. Two sign-up sheets are posted as ever in the church parlor and in Parish Hall. After worship on Sunday, please sign up to do your part. Items of need: (5) Sloppy Joes, 4 lbs. from each contributor, prepared (4) Hamburger Buns, 2 dozen from each contributor (4) Potato Chips, 2 large bags (2) Brownies or Cookies, each portion to serve 24 (2) Orange Juice and (3) Milk, 1 gallon each

6 20th Annual Weston Martin Luther King, Jr Breakfast Interfaith Citizens Advocating Racial Equality (ICARE) invites you to join us at the 20th Annual Weston Martin Luther King, Jr Breakfast on Monday, January 21, This uplifting event will be held at St. Peter s Episcopal Church, 320 Boston Post Road, in Weston, MA. From 8:30 to 10:30 am. It will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy community fellowship and reflect on the principles so faithfully demonstrated by the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as we celebrate his holiday. ICARE is a non-sectarian, anti-racism action group formed in 1999 by members from Weston and surrounding towns. Our goal is to honor the legacy of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by supporting diversity programs in the Weston Public Schools and providing training sessions to the community. E V E N T S This year the featured speaker is Vincent D. Rougeau, Dean of Boston College Law School. Prior to his appointment on July 1, 2011, Dean Rougeau was a professor of law at Notre Dame and served as their Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. He is an advocate for change in legal education who writes and speaks extensively on legal education reform. Dean Rougeau s teaching interests are varied including contract and real estate law as well as seminars on immigration and multiculturalism. Please join us to hear his enriching remarks. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and children age 12 and under. The proceeds cover the costs of a full breakfast buffet and the Rev.
