Andy Wilcock - doc@thewru.co.uk (Home Missions - Development and Outreach Consultant) Report Back Holiday Bible Club - at Moira - Rocky's Plaice - Martin Ludbrook (our YPD worker) Overall went very well.. Lots of willing helpers from church. 2 parents helped with sessions. Party Thursday lunchtime, visited by Mr Twister - magic and balloon modelling (Christian). Children were able to tell him about what we'd looked at in some detail. Pray for continued contact through puppetry work and good morning services. Holiday Bible Club - Bethel Community Church - Bradford Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - 10am to 2pm We have a fantastic time this week. 30 excited, well behaved kids came every day to the club. They listened well to the teaching and were great at encouraging each other in the various games and activities. On the last day one of the mothers cooked homemade pizza for everyone, which the kids loved. The people at Bethel have put a lot of hard work in week by week in local schools and two weekly kids club. Easter Events Rushden High Street Family Craft Afternoon Good Friday , Queen Street. All welcome. Rushden Mission Church Good Friday morning we will be joining with the other Churches of the town for a March of Silent Witness followed by an Open Air Service. Saturday morning will again be visiting about 100 families living in the vicinity of our church building with a gift of an Easter Egg and an invitation to our Easter Services. Ebenezer, Langley Village Steve Karma Free Easter Community Breakfast Sunday 9am cooked breakfast for the local community. We have just been knocking on doors, giving out hot cross buns and inviting people.

Easter story. We had our Passover exploration meal last night it brings home the full meaning of communion.

2 Stonedge Good Friday Gospel Service with choir - followed by Pie x Pea supper - fully booked - about 70 coming - Church members with guests. Mayfield Saturday Coffee morning - serving buttered cold cross buns and the Chapel will be open from 10 till 1 PM for contemplation and prayer with Bibles open for people to read for themselves the Easter story. We had our Passover exploration meal last night it brings home the full meaning of communion. The church has its Cross outside, Syresham We have had a series of Lent meals with Bible Studies over Lent and a Passover meal this week. We are looking forward to Martin Ludbrook leading a Holiday Club at the beginning of the Summer holidays and value your prayers for that. Bedworth We have a service on Good Friday at 7pm, led by Rev John Leslie. On Easter Day we will have 8 am Communion, followed by breakfast, then our Easter Day Services at am & 6.00 pm. For the coming month, as we continue through our Centenary Year, we look forward to the ministry of Rev John Williams on May 1st, Rev Colin Braithwaite (who was of course a previous minister of our church) on May 15th, and Rev Peter Lolley (our last minister) the following week. May 8th is Connexional Sunday and we do not know at this stage who will be with us. Richmond we have an Easter Sunday family service and it will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for the children and a lunch for everyone. We are hoping that we will have one or two visitors, especially people/families on the fringes of our church but who sometimes come to special events. Looking a bit further ahead, we have Derek Cleave of Bristol with us for Sunday services on 5 th June and then we are holding a meal on the Monday evening, 6 th June, concluding with a gospel talk by Derek, so again we are hoping that people will be drawn in. 3 Knit & Natter is on going and currently knitting sweaters for Africa WOMENS KINECT 2 nd Tuesday of the month 2pm In July WOMENS KINECT will host a Regional Event Fellowship Invite a friend JULY 12 th 2pm-4pm - An afternoon of fun & Testimony A year on from God s calling It is now a year since my visitation by Christ during my stay in Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, following a heart attack in November I still recall vividly that moment of His coming unto me and informing me that I had been saved from death. It was indeed a sacred and life changing moment. The Almighty God is a merciful and loving God who created everything, whose power is endless, there is nothing that He cannot do. To those blessed to know, through spiritual intimacy, that He truly exists, who unhesitatingly commit themselves unto Him, who place complete faith and trust in Him, anything is possible to achieve through prayer. He knows our innermost feelings and can sort the wheat from the chaff, there is no deceiving Him, so appearing outwardly righteous and good is insufficient, we must also be spiritually committed for miracles to be performed. As a recent convert to Christianity I know by word from God that He saved me, and I am blessed to have that deep and close spiritual intimacy with Him. He is constantly walking with me, watching over, guiding and protecting me, and whilst I never forget that I am a servant of His, and revere, honour, obey and worship His greatness, I also share friendship with Him, as an Abba Father/child of God relationship where during walks in the countryside He demonstrates through teachings His will. How have I progressed in my faith during the past twelve months? I have completed my first reading of the Holy Bible and now am further reading and studying it in depth. I attend the Dorrington Chapel every Sunday morning and evening together with my wife Kathy to worship and share in Fellowship with the other members of the Chapel, including Bible studies. Although small in number, the Fellowship is fully committed to the Christian faith and strives to be proactive in proclaiming the Lord s glory through missionary work. Recently we undertook delivery of a card, offering support and prayer, to each home in the village. The Fellowship meet on Tuesday evenings for prayer and hold open Chapel coffee mornings the first Wednesday of the month, all of which I actively participate in. In 2003, I attended an Alpha course. After just three weeks I withdrew from the course as I felt that my argumentative scientific reasoning was proving to be counter-productive! Now, seven years later as a Christian I am in week ten of completing an Alpha course and my belief and enthusiasm appears to be encouraging others to becoming more receptive to Christ. I am truly blessed and privileged that The Lord continues to use me as a messenger to further glorify His name. May God bless you Hugh Kinnard

4 Resources Bible Explorer Walk Through the Bible by Ian Fall. Walk Through the Bible course called Bible Explorer. Bible Explorer is an exciting and interactive way of teaching children the truths of the Bible. It has long been known that people learn in different ways, visually, audibly and kinaesthetically (through touch) and Bible explorer employs all three ways of learning and is fun at the same time. How does it work? The course is split into 5 one hour lessons for the Old Testament, usually spread over 5 weeks, and the same for the New Testament. It is taught by a trained Bible Explorer presenter. The course is geared towards 10 and 11 year olds (years 5 and 6) and meets the requirements for the national curriculum for RE. Each story from the bible has an associated key word and hand signal. So as the children learn the story, using drama or video or poems, etc. they can recall the key word for that story and the associated hand signal. After the 5 lessons, for the Old Testament, they have gone from Creation to Christ and have learnt 77 key words and hand signals. In addition they have also learnt the layout of the bible geography from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. The whole experience brings the bible to life for these children. They get to act out some of the stories, and if the other presenters are anything like me they get to slay the teacher. (I ought to explain that I get the smallest child in the class to play David and the teacher to play Goliath!) There is nothing quite like the sound of a child exclaiming in an excited Yes when they realise that the next lesson they are coming in to is Bible Explorer. In between the lessons the children have worksheets to complete which reinforce what has been taught that week and give the children a prompt to practice the hand signals. In the UK alone over 440,000 children have been taught the bible through Bible Explorer. I have been a presenter for 5 years and have taken 240 children through the Bible Explorer experience. In order to become a Bible Explorer presenter you need to have gone on a training course. This can be done in two ways, either on a 4 day residential course or on-the-job training alongside a specially trained Bible Explorer presenter. In addition you can see video of part of a lesson and find out details of the Walk through the Bible seminars for adults with an endorsement from Rev Steve Brady. The Walk Through the Bible Adult Seminar is used at Moorlands bible college as a means of providing the students with a Big Picture overview of scripture. You can arrange for Walk Through the Bible presenters to come along to your church to lead the seminar. Puppet Training Day by One Way UK Moira,Swadlincote, Derbyshire Saturday June 25th 10am to 4pm Registration starts at 9.30am This training day is designed to give you hands on experience of puppetry within the following areas: basic and some advanced puppet manipulation skills, how to start a puppet ministry (including, finances, equipment, recruiting etc), props and scenery and much more!

5 The day is for adults and young people, schools workers, church leaders, Sunday school teachers, youth/children's workers, puppet team leaders or puppet team members. It is not suitable for children under the age of 10, unless they are an active member of a puppet team. A large range of resources will be available for you to purchase, please contact us if there is anything specific you would like us to bring. There will be performances and demonstrations throughout the day to give you plenty of starting ideas. Fees: if booked 10 days prior to event, or thereafter. The day will commence at 10am and finish at 4pm.. Refreshments will be available but please bring a packed lunch and a puppet if you have one. We will have a selection of practice puppets available for you to use if needed.
