June 2017 volume 25 issue 6 A Note from the Chrysalis Community Lay Director Thanks to the Columbus Area Emmaus and Chrysalis Communities for your wonderful support of our recent Chrysalis weekends at the end of April. 33 teens had a wonderful time as they focused on their journeys with Christ. As you enjoy easing into your summer activities, remember the next Chrysalis flights taking place September 2-4 at Camp Hilltop in Brown County. That weekend will be here sooner than we think! The flights are open to high school freshmen (as of August 2017) through college freshmen. Do you have a child, niece or nephew, grandchild, or special young person at your church who would enjoy going on a Chrysalis flight? Send in an application soon to the registrar John Shoemaker. Applications can be found at columbusareaemmaus.community. In these summer months as we perhaps have a chance to get away some from our everyday activities, I hope we can all focus on those three legs of the stool and have times of quiet prayer, reflective study, and joyous Christian action. 2 First of all a HUGE THANK YOU to every person that assisted in making these Walks and Flights possible! You all know the hours of service that go into a walk/flight are too numerous to count, and every aspect is vital to all of the events. We are the Body of Christ, and it s an honor to be a part of this community and watch each person grow as they are involved in each walk and flight. As we begin our summer, remember to spend time each day in God s Peace to further your relationship in Him, pray about who God is placing on you heart. Most importantly enjoy those you LOVE.!!

4 Sponsorship The Fall Walks will be here before you can say De Colores! Lay Directors for these Walks, Karl Evans and Brenda Stoner, have met with the Team Selection Committee and have started their work on seeking God s guidance on who He is calling to participate in the Walks as a team member. If you are feeling called to be Gods servant on one of these Walks, please go to the website and pull down a Team Member Application. You can it to me at: pnewton@columbusareaemmaus.community and I will get it to the Lay Directores. Please don t wait thinking the fall walks are a long ways off it will be here sooner than you think! We all have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of God when we sponsor a pilgrim for one of the Walks. Who is God laying on your heart to sponsor? Who has God pointed out to you in your family, your church, your work place or your small group, that they are ready to experience the Walk to Emmaus. Remember this may not be the time for some, so please pray to God about your talking with someone prior to asking them if they would want to attend a Walk. Also, please remember to ask both spouses if they would be willing to spend a weekend getting to know God in a more personal way. Please share some of your remembrances and how it has impacted your spiritual journey with God. Remember, there are no secrets regarding the Walk. It is a spiritual journey that cannot be explained in one meeting, so meet with him/her or them on several occasions to explain what the Walk experience has meant to you. Plant the seed and then let the Holy Spirit do the rest. Remember, God has called each of us to be the Shepherds of his flock. Be praying for who he has laid on your heart to sponsor for the Fall Walks. Start praying now and prepare to speak to your potential Pilgrim over the summer so you can get their application turned in prior to the cut off date for the Walks. 5 Update about the Emmaus Database Hello Emmaus friends! We have a new database for our community and it is only as good as the information that we have. Please me any changes that you may have had over the past year. Have you changed your address, no longer have your home phone, have a new cell number, moved or changed churches? The Columbus Area Emmaus is blessed with some talented musician. Thank you to those folk who has answered His call to serve. 6 Note from the Spiritual Director... A new Emmaus Community! There is a new Emmaus Community forming in the South American nation of Bolivia. Their 1 st Walks will be July 5 th to 8 th, and 10 th to 13 th. We could be of support to those teams & pilgrims by: including them in our own prayers, and signing up on their Prayer Chart by ing lourdesmc@gmail.com The Upper Room currently has leadership teams forming in Bulgaria, Peru, Poland, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, & Chile. We can begin now to lift up those teams in prayer as they lay the foundation for new Emmaus communities around the world! Mike Seaney, Community Spiritual Director
