2 A word from the President February turned out to be a pretty nasty month with all the rain and cold weather but I know that good weather will be here soon. The ride season is almost upon us which means we will be able to put some miles on the bikes. I know you will be just as glad as Jean and me. There are already many opportunities lined up for our chapter to begin reaching out to the biking community and our local community as well. Check the online calendar, the events section of the monthly newsletter, and watch your for updates and reminders of those opportunities. Our focus for the chapter last year was to build relationships in the chapter through fellowship opportunities and rides. I am very pleased with the success I feel we made in that effort. We will continue to pray that God will grow our chapter in both numbers and relationships as well as to use us to minister to the lost as we go. Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission says, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. I often wondered why the passage included the word therefore between go and make. I heard it explained recently like this: Without the therefore the emphasis would have been on GO but with the therefore included the emphasis is shifted to the verb MAKE. So what does that mean? It means that the go is understood that it is something we are already doing, in other words the passage more clearly stated would read As you are going, make disciples Simpler put, as Christians the go should be a constant in our lives, it means that we are living the Great Commission, we weren t called to sit but to do and that means that we have to be active in sharing the faith. Have you ever heard the words Changing the World One Heart at a Time? Sure you have, but we can t do that if we aren t GOING. Let s make 2013 the year that the Victory Riders make disciples as we GO, and wear your colors. 3 Road Captain Report I'm thankful that February has had some good days for riding. On the 2nd we rode to Buhlow Lake for the fly-in and a great breakfast where we ate out on the deck in the beautiful sunshine. We enjoyed talking among ourselves and with others. We met a nice gentleman and blessed his bike in the parking lot. We then rode on to Natchitoches down the Cane River National Heritage trail enjoying the beautiful countryside. We stopped at a service station for gas, where we spoke with some people. We rode on down to Cane River Lake to watch the ducks, take photos, and we saw a grey egret. Then it was on to Winnfield via 84 East/El Camino East Corridor. We passed a beautiful old church along the way. We enjoyed a buffet lunch at the Panda Restaurant. Those enjoying the ride and fellowship were: Bill and Norma, Mike and Pat, David and Jean, Rudy, Dennis, Rita and me. SAFETY TIP: On a long ride be sure to take frequent breaks to stretch your legs and hydrate yourself. It's all about JESUS. James Dedman, Road Captain On February 4th pizza and salad was enjoyed at B.J.'s in Ball by Mike and Pat, David and Jean, Rita and me. Two of David and Jean's friends from Pollock who ride joined us there. We had a great ride to the V.A. nursing home in Pineville on the 16th to visit and pass out valentines and candy to the residents and express our gratitude to them for their service to us and our country. Several of the veterans came outside to look at our bikes and talk; they were really impressed with Bill and Norma's sidecar. We had lunch at Fant's Seafood in Tioga, where seafood, po-boys, burgers and fried pickles were soon devoured. Those enjoying the day were Donnie, Jeanie and Dillon, H.O. and Paula, Bill and Norma, Mike, David and Jean, Rita and me and were joined by Jimbo from the Jonesville chapter. We had a great day of fellowship. I m hoping we can set up some times for us to visit the veterans more often. With Spring just around the corner, we are looking forward to some great rides in the days to come. Just like Christmas, the real meaning of Easter seems to have been forgotten. For those of us who are Christians, we understand what Easter is all about. But for those who haven't experienced this 'new life' in Jesus, it seems to be more about bunnies, baskets and boiled eggs. While these things are not intrinsically bad, let us make sure that our children and grandchildren see that our focus this season is on Christ, not the Easter Bunny.
4 PLEASE!!! Bring the list of your CMA activities to the chapter meeting, or call, or text it to me. This includes rides, rallies, hospital visits, witnessing or prayer opportunities. You don t need to include details, just the month and type of event. I must report these on my quarterly report. I try very hard to remember who is present at things I attend, but I also need to report your individual activities. Thanks, Jean Run for the Son May 4, 2013 Victory Riders meet the 2nd Monday of every month at Rick s Pizza on Oak Street in downtown Jena. Come early, (around 6) to eat and fellowship and we will begin the meeting at 7:00 P.M. Don t forget Bible Study on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Bring your Bible and a desire to grow in the Word. (Also bring some food!) Inquiring minds want to know Why does the date of Easter move around and is there any way to know years in advance what date a certain Easter will fall on? The Council of Nicaea (A.D. 325) set the date of Easter as the Sunday following the paschal full moon, which is the full moon that falls on or after the vernal (spring) equinox. We know that Easter must always occur on a Sunday, because Sunday was the day of Christ's Resurrection, but why the paschal full moon? Because that was the date of Passover in the Jewish calendar, and the Last Supper occurred on the Passover. Therefore, Easter was the Sunday after Passover. The exact date of the paschal full moon is not used, but an approximation, because the paschal full moon can fall on different days in different time zones, which would mean that the date of Easter would be different depending on which time zone you live in. For calculation purposes, the full moon is always set at the 14th day of the lunar month (the lunar month begins with the new moon). Likewise, the date of the vernal equinox is set at March 21, even though it can occur on March 20. Both approximations allow a universal date for Easter. So, Easter can never occur before March 22 or later than April 25. More simply, Easter usually falls on the Sunday following the first full moon after the first day of Spring. If you are not yet fully confused try Googling date for Easter ; you will get well over a million results!

7 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. James 1:2-3 I avoid pain at all costs. That is why I don't run. I have tried running, and it hurts. People have told me, "Just run a little. Walk, and then run from here to there." So I do it, and I hate it. For me, the most ideal workout would be a pain-free one. I don't want my muscles to be sore the next day. But as the expression goes, no pain, no gain. And what is true of working out is also true of life: no pain, no gain. If you are looking for a pain-free life, then you are not going to gain spiritually. You see, pain reminds us of a deeper need. Adversity teaches us eternal truths that we would not otherwise learn. I experience a certain kind of pain every day. I don't know if I would call it pain, but it is a hunger pang. From the moment I get up, I want to eat. And by 10:00, as lunchtime begins to roll around, I am basically hungry. So I wait, and I tell myself that lunch is coming. And that hunger pang reminds me of a deeper need. When I have pain in my life, it reminds me of a deeper need, which is a need for God. And He will teach us lessons in those valleys that we would never learn on mountaintops: things we need to know and things we need to share with others. when the Lord came through for you. And that is why we need to understand that God is in control of all these things. By Greg Laurie Taken from Harvest Ministries The First Easter 1 After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb. 2 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow. 4 The guards were so shaken from fear of him that they became like dead men. 5 But the angel told the women, Don t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples, He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there. Listen, I have told you. Think about your life and about some of the greatest lessons you have learned. They have come through adversity, haven't they? Those are the things you pass on and share with others. You remember those times
