2 2 15 Welcome to another edition of Mt. Zion s self-produced Sunday School Lessons! For February 2019, we continue to focus on a study of some Names of God. We hope that you will gain a greater appreciation for coming to know some Names that you can call God in your time of want and need. God can be and will be whatever we need Him to be. Sunday School Lesson Notes As for Bible Study, we will continue to focus on God Responds to Our Faith: Developing Our Christian Faith. We will go through the Gospels and the rest of the Bible to show how Jesus responded and God continues to respond to our faith. We should be dedicated to developing our faith in God as that will make us more victorious in this Christian walk. The only way that we can grow in God is to grow in His Word. We implore you to attend every teaching session that you can so that we may grow together at Mt. Zion. We thank God for the following for the preparation of these lessons. Both meetings are great opportunities to learn more about God s Word and grow as a Believer. If you are not currently doing so, we strongly encourage you to become active in weekly studies. We trust that these lessons will be beneficial in your growth in God s Word and your Christian walk. Remember, you can only be as strong as the amount of Word that is in you. That is done by studying God s Word and consistently being taught. We implore you to regularly attend Sunday School, Bible Study and invite others to come as we seek to grow together in the Lord. The Peace Equation Scripture: Colossians 1:16-17 Date: February 10, 2019 Scripture Verse(s): 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. Lesson Objectives The purpose of this lesson is to ensure that the students understand and appreciate the following: 1. No one or nothing is above God! Questions/Check Your Learning 1. What is the difference between man s peace and Godgiven Peace? 2. What is meant by the term Shalom? 3. State the 3 principles discussed in today s lesson regarding the characteristics of living a truly peaceful Christian life. 4. State the equation used in today s lesson for obtaining true peace. 5 12 5 Principle 2: Principle 3: Backstory Who/what created the Creator? How can something be created from nothing? How was the universe created? How were the things in the universe created? What are some invisible things that were created? How were powers created? How did God determine who and what would be created? How smart is the smartest? How powerful is the most powerful? How high is the Most High? Have you ever thought about the answers to these questions and others? Today s Lesson gives us some insight to a fact that we must accept as a foundation nothing or no one is higher than God. Introduction El Elyon speaks to the supremacy of God. He is above all. El Elyon means the strongest of the strong and the highest of the high. Certain religions mention God as part of the universe. God is not part of the universe. He is transcendent. He is above all. He is the Most High God. God is above all things. Jesus is our El Elyon.

6 6 11 Introduction (*Instructor will provide directions) Life Lesson(s) God was, is, and will always be Who He is. He is God The Most High. He is the Creator. He created all of the universe. There is no power that exists unless He allows it. He was here before anything or anything else was. There is nothing above Him. That s Who He is! No matter what we need God to be, He can and will be that for us. Let s simply let Him be all that and more. He is above all. He is our Most High God! Questions 1. What/Who is God to you? 2. What does it mean to you that God is The Most High God? 3. If God is The Most High God, and He is, why would we put anyone or anything above Him? Life Lessons I. 7 10 7 Lesson 11: Jehovah-Shalom ( The Lord is Peace ) Scripture: Judges 6:23-24 Date: February 24, 2019 Scripture Verse(s) (KJV) 23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. 24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah-Shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. Lesson 10: El Olam ( The Everlasting God ) Scripture: Psalm 90:1-2 Date: February 17, 2019 Scripture Verse(s) 1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Lesson Objectives By the end of this lesson, you will learn: 1. Principles for living a truly peaceful Christian life 2. The mathematics for obtaining and maintaining Shalom in your life Backstory There is no doubt that turmoil and drama impact our lives on a daily basis. High crime rates, political craziness, addictions to drugs/alcohol, health problems, relationship issues, etc. are contributing factors to a world gone mad. So, what can we, as Christians, do to mitigate the impact of these factors and live more truly peaceful lives? Well, as you will soon discover, we can call on the name Jehovah-Shalom to provide, restore, and/or help us maintain the wonderful Peace that only HE can give! For Jesus said in John 14:27 (KJV), Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Lesson Objectives The purpose of this lesson is to ensure that the students understand and learn the following: 1. We are to dwell in God. 2. God has kept all generations. 3. God is everlasting.

8 8 9 Backstory No matter your age, have you ever really focused on the fact that you are alive. Who kept you alive? Have you ever thought about the rough times in your life? Who brought you through those times? What about our ancestors? Who took care of them? If your ancestry is one of slavery, how did they make it? How did they survive? There must have been someone before our ancestors. That Someone has stood the test of time and will stand. That is God Almighty, and He is everlasting. To Him, there is no end. People have come and gone. God created them. Animals have come and gone. God created them. Insects have come and gone. God created them. Empires have come and gone. God is still here. He is not going anywhere; so, it would help if we learned to trust and depend on Him and not anything else. Introduction God never changes. It is a wonderful thing to know that in an ever-changing world that God does not change. Time does not alter God (See Psalm 90:4). There are no surprises to God. God does not panic in any circumstances. God knows the past, present, and future all at the same time. Jesus is our El Olam (See Hebrews 1:8). Life Lesson(s) Would you buy something that you knew was not going to last long if you had other options? We invest in a lot of things. Houses come and go. People come and go. Jobs come and go. Money comes and goes. God is everlasting. We need to invest in Him as He is not going anywhere. That is the safest investment that we can ever make. Invest in a relationship with God. God is and will remain everlasting. Question(s) 1. On earth, what guaranteed investments have you ever made? 2.
