1 NEWSLETTER Faith Lutheran Church Eaton, Colorado November/December 2015 Pastor s Journal Thanksgiving Meditation One thing I m thankful for is this year s Community Harvest Dinner, which took place on Nov. 7th at Galeton Elementary. I got to meet a lot of great people and interact with different clubs and organizations. It left me with a sense of gratitude for being surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses! I want to give thanks to all the people and groups who supported the Harvest Dinner. The Planning Team for the Harvest Dinner was guided by Faith s Outreach Team, and Bonnie Graham, Nomie Ketterling, and John Wolfe served on the Planning Team. The team also included these members from other churches: John Erickson, Bill Erickson, Debbie Helzer, Amy Fetzer, Butch Helzer, Sue Ambrose, Judy Scott, Curt Emery, and Bob Sexton. Also on the planning team, and playing a crucial role were Becky Lawhead and Rose Fouts who gave many hours in the kitchen before, during, and after the dinner. Twenty-one people from the community cooked a turkey, and 70 pies were donated. At least nine different clubs/organizations helped set up, serve, and clean up afterwards. The youth in our community were well represented by the Heart and Hands 4-H Club, Galeton 4-H Club, Faith Lutheran Youth Group, and First Cong Youth Group. Other groups helping were the Dairy Women Assoc, Galeton Baptist Church, Galeton Elementary School, Gill Lions Club, and the Galeton Fire Dept. When I began to work with the Harvest Dinner in Galeton, I never expected it would be a source of joy. I think being part of so many good people working together to do good, with no want of reward - that delivered the greatest reward of all, doing God s will! We will leave the church around Noon on Dec. 20, and expect to finish around 2:00 p.m. We will be visiting Fox Run, Kenton Manor, and Bonell nursing homes.

A reading from Exodus: The LORD said, "I am going to send an angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared." (Exodus 23:20). When you came to this congregation we rejoiced to welcome you into the mission we share as the people of God. God has blessed you, and God has blessed us through you. Eternal God, we thank you for John and Alice, and for the time we have shared with them. As they have been a blessing to us, so now send them forth to be a blessing to others; send an angel before them and may their feet always walk in the Light of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. 3 Faith s Christmas Adopt-A-Family In the month of December, a Christmas Tree in the narthex will have gift suggestions for each member of our adopted family. Cash donations will go toward a gift card at Heritage Market. Traditional Christmas Eve 4:00 p.m. Communion Service 8:00 p.m. Communion Service Congregation Council Highlights Your church council met 11/8/2015. The Treasurer s report showed unified giving as $8, during October. Total income including rents, designated offerings and anniversary income was $50, Expenses totaling $15, If you are interested in the details of this report, it is available in the church office on Monday mornings. The anniversary church offering will be split $1, to the church and the youth group of Faith Lutheran and UNC Campus Ministry will receive $ The youth sponsor reported that they continue to have a good attendance at the Sunday evening meetings. They would like to have at least 2 children attend the youth conference. Plans were made to service the copier, purchase new phones for the office. The council will meet on 11/12/15 to discuss next year s budget. Church Women Women s Thankoffering The thank offering raised $472, which will be sent to the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Thank you for your support! Annual Women s Advent Service Women in the Northern Colorado Cluster are invited to an Advent Service, today at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Windsor. Women s Advent Luncheon / Mary & Martha Circle All ladies are invited to attend a potluck at Joan Peterson s home on Friday, Dec. 11 at Noon.

4 Faith s Sunday School PreK - 5th Graders Bible Bucks Store Faith s Sunday School is collecting donations of simple toys and candy for the store s opening on Sunday, Dec. 13. The children have been earning Bible Bucks for attendance and remembering to bring their Bibles. 5 Faith Youth Group Grades 6-12 From the Youth Team 6-10 teens have been meeting on Sunday Nights. The parents are taking turns with providing meals, and we hope that members of Faith will want to provide an occasional meal. There is also a rotation of adults leading devotions on youth nights. Youth fast Menu On the first Sunday of the Month, you can enjoy a great breakfast with your friends at Faith! fast is served from 9:00-9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. On Dec. 6 we are having French Toast Casserole, and Jan.3 we are having Bagels and Muffins. Small donations support the youth group at Faith. Youth Laser Tag All teens are invited to attend Laser Tag on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Time and Location to be announced.
