June July 2016 Vision Statement Our vision is to be a church that encourages people to worship God, to belong in fellowship, to grow in faith, to use their gifts and to be equipped for mission. BIBLE CROSSWORD

News of friends Jean Hyde continues to have good and not so good days but thanks everyone for their prayers and good wishes. On the 5th May she sent this text: You are never too ill or too old to set another goal or to dream another new dream C.S.Lewis Karen should be wrapped in bubble wrap as she had another fall (down the stairs this time!) She came for a short visit May. By taking her & her mum s cats to vets we managed a natter. Thinking of friends - Lacey aged 7 made me read one of her Felicity Wishes books by Emma Thomson and I found this quote: Good friends won t mind what you can and can t do as long as you are YOU! Do you think it includes wobbly Grandmas too? Books - Do you know that we have some religious books and magazines for you to borrow or keep? They are on the shelves as you come in the front church door on the right. Please help yourself. Used Stamps, postcards etc. for Leprosy Mission I will stop sending them off in September. I have been doing this for 30 years. Now due to the high cost of postage I think it would be better if individuals sent them off directly. Leprosy Mission Phil & Eileen Jarman 26 Drift Road, Clanfield, Waterlooville, PO8 0IL
News from Mary B. Hi Folks, We give grateful thanks to God for the safe delivery of Baby Koa. A son born to Aaron and Kirsten. (I don t think there is anyone at Church that doesn t know my grandson Aaron) They say thank you to all of you who sent cards and gifts and hope to be able to come and see you all soon. I can t wait to go and see them all on the 4 th June in Leeds and hold my latest Great Grandchild. So many thanks for all the prayers and love for the family. Mary xxx I would like to say a big thank you for all your prayers and support when we haven t got a preacher and I have to take the service. It s not an easy task, but with God s help, I can always put something together and with the feedback I get I must be getting something right. So thank you all God Bless Mary B. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meet Fred the Foster Dog Black dogs are considered unlucky in Cyprus, and poor Fred was found with his back paw severed... He has been rescued and brought over to the UK. My sister has been fostering him since January whilst funds were raised for him to have a prosthetic back foot fitted. He needs this as he tries to walk on his short leg, which is making his spine twist. They have almost raised enough money, and he will then be going to a vet in Hitchin who is a specialist in this field. After rehabilitation, he will go up for adoption. He has his own Facebook page so take a look. Sue
Holiday Club 2016 At Church Meeting Sue mentioned the situation with Holiday Club and questioned if we will be able to run it for Our main issue at the moment is staffing levels, even with the expected reduced number of children, we still need adequate coverage. We will let everyone know as soon as we can. FUTURE EVENTS So far we have dates for the following: Work Morning (To be confirmed) Bike n Hike (To be confirmed) Christ Church Annual Ceilidh Saturday 24 th September pm Saturday 10 th September Saturday 10 th September Christ Church Christmas Fayre Saturday 12 th November 11.00am 2.00pm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meeting with the Moderator Christ Church and St. George s are due to have a joint meeting with the Moderator, Andrew Prasad. The purpose of this meeting is to explain the Vacancy Procedure. Two dates were agreed between us and St. Georges, 5 th & 19 th June with the meeting held here at Hatfield. At the moment we are still waiting to hear back and as time passes it now seems very unlikely we could make the 5 th June due to Elders holidays. Will let everyone know as soon as possible.

REFUGEES They have no need of our help So do not tell me These haggard faces could belong to you or me Should life have dealt a different hand We need to see them for who they really are Chancers and scroungers Layabouts and loungers With bombs up their sleeves Cut-throats and thieves They are not Welcome here We should make them Go back to where they came from They cannot Share our food Share our homes Share our countries Instead let us Build a wall to keep them out It is not okay to say These are people just like us A place should only belong to those who are born there Do not be stupid to think that The world can be looked at another way (now read from bottom to top)
