1 RE: NEO Student Leader Program Application Greetings Youth Pastor and Youth Leader, It s our goal to help you identify and train leaders within your ministry. Students can apply to be an NEO Student Leader by April 15 th each year. Each year new or current student leaders must complete an application and have their Pastor or Youth Leader s recommendation. If you would like to recommend any of your students who meet the requirements listed on the application, please have them fill out the enclosed application in ink along with your signature of recommendation. All forms must be postmarked by April 15 th and sent to : NEO Student Ministries Board Attn. Athena Edwards 237 New Milford Road Ravenna, OH The applications will be reviewed by the NEO student Ministries Board and will be followed up with a letter to each student. If the student is approved, there will be a meeting date and time included in the acceptance letter. Our goal is to help equip students who are already showing leadership qualities within their local churches. We hope this process helps you in selecting those leaders. The ones I cannot attend, I will take it upon myself to contact one of the Student Ministries Board Members to stay updated on current events and my involvement in those events. Be sure to allow them time to mail it in before the scheduled due date (April 15 th of each year). NOTE: Please be sure that all your contact information is printed clearly with an ink pen. What happens now that I ve completed my application? 1) Your Youth Leader, Youth Pastor or Pastor will complete their recommendation portion of the application. 2) Youth Leader, Youth Pastor or Pastor will mail your application and their recommendation to the NEO Student Leader Coordinator. 3) NEO Student Board will review your application at their May meeting. 4) You will receive an or text notifying you to that status of your application. 5) If you are accepted into the NEO Student Leader Program, your time of service will begin in June (current year) and end the following year in August (next year).

6 A STUDENT LEADER IS A Student Leader Is a servant to others. always ready to help. an encourager. a person who finds good in everything. a team player in sports and games. a good loser in competitions, who congratulates others on their accomplishments & abilities. someone who participates in everything. someone who works for group unity. someone who keeps confidences. someone who shows new people around and makes them feel comfortable. someone who accepts positive suggestions and constructive criticism from other peers and adult leaders. someone who works well with others on projects and assignments and includes their ideas and suggestions. A Student Leader Is Not the boss of anyone. ever to busy for anyone. one who criticizes & puts others down. a person who finds fault in everything. a show off, drawing all the attention to himself. a poor loser who argues and complains that others cheated or that the game was unfair. someone who sits around and watches, refusing to get involved in activities. someone who causes dissension. someone who gossips about others. someone who ignores new people and lets them find their own way around. someone who will not accept or consider helpful suggestions from others. someone who takes over a project and does not allow others to incorporate their ideas and suggestions.
