2 Dr. Maribeth Westerfield Minister Carrie Whipper Disciples Church Extension Fund Christian Church (DOC), Indianapolis, IN Palmetto Project North Charleston, SC Our featured Conference Key Note Speaker, Minister Denise Bell took us on a journey of insight and inspiration into the depths of imagining and understanding Letting God s Love Be Seen! Minister Denise Bell Regional Minister Christian Church (DOC) in Georgia We extended the ministry of Christ through Disciples Letting God s Love Be Seen through the midst of the flood rains that hit the state during our Regional Conference. The Poplar Hill Christian Church exhibited excellent hospitality. We thank Pastor Deveta Brown and the outstanding Co-Directors, Regina Collier and Michelle Ravenell! We extend the ministry of Christ through collective giving and participation in several congregational clothing & food distribution ministries. The New Beginnings Outreach serves about 175 persons a month with food, clothing and other necessities in the name of Jesus in through with the Christian Church (DOC).
3 Leadership Development: Our leadership development is lodged with districts and the fellowship group ministries. Districts: District 1 Convener is Lucille Kinard, Luray Christian Church, Luray, SC ; District Union 1 Moderator is Freddie Lawton, Sr., Antioch Christian Church, Varnville, SC; District 2 Pete Cosgrove; District Union 2 Moderator is Deveta Brown, Poplar Hill Christian Church, Cross, SC; and District 3 Convener position has not been filled at this time Group Ministries: Disciples Men Presidents Morgan White, New Galilee Christian Church Holly Hill, SC ; Disciples Women President is Frankie Walters, Luray Christian Church, Luray, SC; Disciples Women Staff Person is Gloria Gilliard, Poplar Hill Christian Church, Cross, SC; Disciples Youth Coordinator is Lula Richardson, Poplar Hill Christian Church, Cross, SC; Ministers Wives and Husbands Fellowship President is Sandra Tucker, New Galilee Christian Church, Holly Hill, SC; Commission on Ministry Chairperson is Melvin Brown, My Father s House Ministry, Moncks Corner, SC. Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism: Ms. Betty Turner of Poplar Hill Christian Church, Cross, SC gives leadership as chair of our True Community team. The Regional leadership is living into God s call to become one church functionally as well as spiritually. PRAY WITH US AS WE GROW! Regional Commission on Ministry. The chair of the Commission on Ministry is Bishop Melvin Brown of My Father s House Ministry, Moncks Corner, SC. The Commission hosts an annual Open House for pastors, ministerial candidates and laity. It coordinates and convenes a series six hour sessions once a month encompassing the specific areas of ministerial practice as outlined in the Theological Foundations and Policies and Criteria for the Ordering of Ministry (TFPCOM) in the Christian church (Disciples of Christ) in the United Staten and Canada. It has proved to be an effective team in our efforts in developing ministerial leadership in commissioned ministry.
