Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... One of the blessings of having children is that you get to go through different phases of life with them all over again. You watch them go through grade school from the perspective of having already done that, and you remember so much about that phase in your own life. Then you go with them through middle school, high school, college, etc., with the perspective of your own experiences. When you look back on different phases of life, do you ever think of things you would change if you could do it over? Most of us would change something if we thought hard enough. When our entire lives are over and we look back on them, what things do you think we would change? I know we would change anything that drew us away from God or was embarrassing before Him. We would change the things that hurt other people. I am sure that our values would be different and we would get rid of the things that were a waste of time, resources, or effort. We would be determined to live life with eternal values and a godly perspective. One of the keys to wisdom is to look at our lives from the perspective of eternity. The things that will matter out of this life will be our relationship with God, and our transformation to be like Christ to be the people God created us to be. Everything we do to build His kingdom, to build up believers, and minister to the lost and hurting in the world will matter. These are the things that matter. Unfortunately, what most people have spent their lives pursuing in this world will be meaningless. As we ask everyone at Harvest to form a Plan for Spiritual Growth, we are asking you to live wisely. To ask God what He wants you to focus on this year that will bring lasting transformation and matter in eternity. To get to know God better, allow Him to transform us, build the kingdom of God, and minister to people. We plan to focus on the main things. We will focus on this over the next couple of Sundays, and when we look back in eternity we will be glad we did.

Plan for Spiritual Growth We have identified five habits of successful Christians throughout the centuries: Sunday Worship, Personal Growth Habits, Giving, Small Groups, and Ministry/Service. Some of us are taking the important first step to grow by attending Sunday morning worship. Others of us are already practicng all five spiritual habits. Pray about your plan for this coming year. On Sunday, September 25, we will offer to God our personal commitments for growth. Fall Renewal Conference 2011 October Bryan Collier will be our speaker. 4 Services: Sunday morning, and Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights at 7pm. Clear your calendar, and be praying for our main event of the fall! Spiritual Life Conference 2012 May 6-9. Bill Ury will be our speaker. God speaks to us as a church during our conferences. 3 Sean Nix Small Groups Cycle III begins soon! Registration for new groups will begin on Sunday September 18. Group Leaders will be available at the Ministry Fair to answer questions about their specific group. We will have new groups for Parenting, Marriage, and Spiritual Growth, as well as our Harvest Church Original Discipleship Series including Phases I-V. If you are not currently involved in a small group, this is your chance to Join One and Grow! Group Life Orientation - Wednesday, September 7, 6:30-7pm, Worship Center. This will be a special event where, for the first time ever, Pastor Sean invites everyone group leaders, group members, and those interested in joining a group to gather with him in the Worship Center for this important everyone together meeting! We will be encouraged by the Word of God and reminded why being connected in a small group of believers is critical and Biblical. Groups that choose to attend can either meet together afterwards or join the Wednesday Kingdom Life Group immediately following the orientation. Celebrate Recovery - Are you ready to celebrate your recovery in Christ, from any of life s hurts, hang-ups, or habits? CR is the place for you! We meet every Friday at 6pm in the Harvest Youth Room. Adopt a Harvest Family The Angel Food Ministry (AFM) team working alongside the Congregational Care of Harvest Church invites small groups or individuals to adopt a Harvest family and commit to purchasing an AFM box for an entire year (you may also choose to purchase a food box once a month or on a quarterly basis). Through this ministry, you or your small group will be able to minister to individual people or families throughout the year or other commited time frame, serving alongside them and supporting them as an accountability partner, prayer partner, and friend. Ministry Fair - Sunday, September 18, 5:30-7:30pm. Once a year we have a Ministry Fair to showcase all of our ministries at Harvest. Ministry team leaders and members are available to answer questions and explain the important part they play in the ministry of the church. For the first time we will be in the Worship Center with lots of room to check out all the ministry opportunities available at Harvest. This is the best the opportunity for you to see firsthand all the different ministries, and find one you want to be part of. Our theme this year is Activated for the Harvest, Free to Serve. If you have been coming to Harvest for a while, you have probably noticed all the people volunteering on Sunday morning Keith Frith helping with the vision to reach the unchurched. Come see how the vision is accomplished! Tropical Sno will be there this year offering free snow cones for all who sign up for ministry teams. There will also be pizza and snow cones available for everyone to purchase. Ministry Opportunities: There is an urgent need for a volunteer who can change the roadside sign on a weekly basis. Things have settled down, and class numbers are in, so to keep everyone safe and happy. We are going to rearrange the Elephant, Bison, and Ark rooms in order to best accommodate each age group. At the 10:45 service we have had 45 to 50 children in the Ark (3 and 4 yr olds), plus the teachers and helpers. In the next couple of weeks we will allocate the Elephant room for the 2 s, the Bison room for the young 3 s, and have the Ark for 3 s and 4 s.
