If you need yard work done, windows washed, garages cleaned, or tasks of this sort, please speak to Stacey Ramos (563) FROM PASTOR KYLE Grace and Peace to you from the Triune God! While we have had many opportunities to celebrate our shared ministry together and say goodbye, I write to you all one last time with a deep sense of gratitude for the life that we have shared together. In these past few weeks, I have been especially grateful to have been able to celebrate with you all after having received a call, rejoiced with you as Bishop Michael Burk and other clergy came to lay hands upon me to ordain me in the presence of so many gathered faithful souls, and celebrate Eucharist among this community. Every time we gather together to worship, we are gathered by the Holy Spirit around God's word and the sacraments before being sent out into the world. I am now being sent to serve the larger church. Your mission, in many ways, has been accomplished. "Well done, good and faithful servants!" I have shared many words with you all while I served among you. But I leave you with the same words I shared on my last Sunday from The Canterbury Tales: "If I have done any of you any good, I ask you to give thanks to God. If I have failed any of you in any way, I ask you to credit it to my lack of ability, and not a lack of will, for I surely would have done better if I could." 4

8 VBS DONATIONS Donations are needed to help with Vacation Bible School supplies. If you have any of the following items, please bring them into the church: Empty, plastic water bottles Balloons Plastic straws (250 count) Red tissue paper (2 packages) Yellow tissue paper (2 packages) Orange tissue paper (2 packages) Tall, plastic containers with lids/empty peanut butter jars Empty soup, vegetable, or fruit cans Empty paper towel or toilet paper tubes Brown paper Index cards 5/16 flat washers (125 count) Thank you all for you help and support with Zion s VBS! MCSA DONATIONS Social Ministry is always collecting toiletry products for MCSA Residents. For all travelers, this is where you can drop off any of those goodies you never use when staying at a hotel. MCSA Residents need and appreciate all those soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion items. For those who don t travel as much, if you happen to pick up any toiletry items previously listed or any other items that you use on a daily basis such as: toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, shaving gel, etc., you can drop them off also. A Social Ministry member will ensure that MCSA receives these products to give to their Residents. There is a gray tote that is located on the counter underneath the church mailboxes. It is labeled, DONATIONS of TOILETRIES for MCSA. The Residents at MCSA are grateful! *Please note, that we no longer are collecting Campbell soup labels. THANK YOU S Zion, thank you so much for the donation of hats and mittens for our students. We are grateful for your contribution and so are the students! ~ Franklin Elementary School Thanks to all who donated to the Water, the Witness project AKA the Sampson Project. We have reached our goal and gone beyond. We are accepting donation until May 7th in the office. ~ Stewardship Committee We would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and cards. A special thanks to Ruth for the beautiful flowers and Vicar Kyle and Pastor Steve for their visits and prayers. We can always count on our Zion family and God. ~Ron and Karolyn Subbert I would like to thank Diane Emlet and Bob Nicolai for bringing me communion every month. I look forward to our visits. Also, thanks to joy Circle 6 for the greeting cards and also thanks to Ruth Starkweather for the flowers. God loves you and so do I. ~ Ellen Tietje 8
9 GARDEN OF EATEN APRIL NEWS Garden of Eaten is gearing up for the 2018 season. This will be our third year and again there are new additions. We ve added two more raised beds, thanks to Dave Starkweather, Bob Nicolai and Tom Atkinson (friend from Shepherd of the Cross). The Property Committee moved some of the soil from the existing beds into the new beds which will allow us to add compost and peat moss to all the beds. We re making plans for our planting, adjusting what needs to be changed and trying some new vegetables. Installing vertical gardening on our fence this year will enable us to plant herbs. We also have some small Lilac and Rose of Sharon bushes donated which will offer more definition to our garden space. Along with the marigolds we re considering more flowers to attract bees for pollination. Much of what we are doing right now is done with the help of an Iowa State Mini Grant through the Snap Education Program. Terri Hanson took the Master Gardner classes last fall and will do her volunteer work at our garden, along with Rick Crooks. Because Terri applied for the grant we will receive approximately $ worth of supplies. Along with the grant come guidelines for proper food care when donating it to our food pantry. We welcome anyone interested in being a part of this ministry! One of the first opportunities will be helping to work in the compost and peat moss. Please let Judy Sebbert know if you would be available. No date is set at this time but hopefully in early April. As the weather warms we will be planting and any help is welcome with that phase as well. Sunday, April 22nd, Earth Day, will be the Garden Blessing. Hopefully, we ll have at least some seedlings planted by then and we ll be ready to watch our vegetables grow. With nine beds we will have more generous contributions for the Muscatine Food Pantry. A huge thank you to all the helpers! Judy Sebbert, Social Ministry 9
